Unfortunately, my visit fell short of my expectations, leaving me disappointed and dissatisfied. Upon arriving, I was greeted by a friendly receptionist who seemed overwhelmed by the number of clients. Despite this we had an appointment but the wait time was considerably longer than expected. I understand that businesses can get busy, but the lack of communication and transparency regarding the delay was frustrating. Once called in, I was taken to an untidy nail station. The tools and equipment seemed ill-maintained, which raised concerns regarding hygiene and sanitation. While the technician attempted to tidy up, it was clear that cleanliness was not a priority here. During the manicure, the technician's lack of expertise became evident. The filing was rough and haphazard, leaving my nails uneven and jagged. I also had showed her a picture of what i wanted and she said ok confidently and messed them up a lot. She never let me look at the during the process so when i tried to correct her so they looked proper she said ok and just left it. Additionally, the nail polish application was sloppy, with uneven coats. Furthermore, the nail salon's ambiance was far from relaxing. There was excessive noise from loud conversations between staff members and other customers, making it nearly impossible to unwind and enjoy the experience. The lack of privacy added to the uncomfortable atmosphere, as conversations about personal matters reverberated throughout the salon. Overall, my experience at Ruby Nails and Day Spa was far from satisfactory. The lack of professionalism, poor hygiene standards, subpar nail services, and the unwelcoming ambiance left me feeling frustrated and dissatisfied. It was a missed opportunity for a truly pampering and enjoyable experience. I hope that the management of Ruby Nails and Day Spa takes these criticisms constructively and works towards improving the overall customer experience. Actually, the mani pedi was ok, bust just ok. The problem was the individual performing the task. I would expect some one in her position, dealing up close and personal with customers, to be a bit more concerned with her appearance. The girl was dressed in old jeans and tshirt, messy hair, no makeup. I personally make sure to make myself more presentable as the CUSTOMER. I am not saying the girls need to be beautiful, by any means, just make an effort. read more

Walked in to the receptionist just lounging in the waiting area, there were toenail clippings on the floor, and the owner was screaming at people across the shop the entire time. It was so chaotic in there! I had planned to get a fill and pedicure with a friend, my nail tech was very impersonal and on his phone the whole time FaceTimeing someone. He said maybe 3 words to me, kept grabbing and yanking my arm and never asked how I wanted my nails. I got chrome nails ($15 upcharge) and it is flaking off literally 2 days later. My friend and I skipped the pedicures due to the uncomfortable environment and dirty conditions. Save yourself the time, GO TO POSH in Jenison and actually relax with a good conversation in a clean environment. read more

I'm really disappointed. These are the worst acrylics I have ever gotten, they are extremely thick and lumpy. The person doing my nails drilled my skin several times and it was very painful and drew blood. They look extremely messy and are all over my fingers and all the way around my nail. I definitely just wish I could have my money back. They are also very inconsistent, each one is different lengths and different distances away from the cuticle. read more

I really needed to get mine done today so I called ahead to see if they could get me in. They told me I could could come right in and they would take me. First time visiting Ruby's and it was a good experience overall for me! I got the most basic mani/pedi there was for $45-but there are other levels as well. It was busy, but they had 9-10 employees in there working, so I don't think anyone who walked in (or had an appointment) had to wait. While the man who did my manicure took a very long time, his attention to detail was much appreciated. Even after I had been sitting with my nails under the dryer for about 10 minutes he came back over to put another too coat on for me to make sure everything was perfect! Its now been over 24 hours since I got my nails done, and I already have a few chips missing--but I fully blame that on my work, and am not too bothered by it. Maybe next time I will try the shellac nails like he recommended (for longer wear). read more

I drive twenty mins to come here, because I've always had at least a three star experience with their basic pedicure. I decided to splurge due to extra required shifts at the hospital, and chose the level 3 "special pedicure." I was very disappointed. The technician began with trying to grind my regular nail polish, even after I told her it was not shellac. I asked her to please use nail polish remover instead and it seemed to be really upsetting. It is not healthy to use the grinder on nails, as it impairs their integrity, so it should not be used unnecessarily. The parafin wax treatment was an absolute joke. She barely covered the bottoms of my feet with it as she struggled with the plastic bag around my feet. She massaged my legs with lotion while the "parafin wax soaked in," and then massaged the wax off my feet for less than 15 seconds. That was it.... I was out of there in less than an hour- not comparable to an upper level pedicure at other establishments. I would have happily massaged my own feet for 15 seconds and painted my own nails at home if I knew this is what my money was paying for. I left with smudged nails from the technician attempting to fix the crooked nails she left me with- then didn't wait for the nail polish remover to dry. I went in and got the speical pedicure. I wasn't given the full service that I should have. The gentleman who did it wasn't comfortable with scraping my feet ( which is fine) but I did ask if somebody else could and they said no. I also asked for the hot stones wasn't given that either. as we go to check out I was charged for the special pedicure and I told them I didn't get everything that was in the special and they didn't care. So I was charged way more then I should have been. Never going back again. read more

I tried this nail salon because I needed a shellac manicure and my normal place wasn't open. I hate leaving negative reviews, especially when the staff was so nice, but I was very unimpressed. I immediately noticed the station itself was covered in nail dust from the previous clients. The nail tech started by pulling tools out of her drawer, instead if grabbing clean ones...this really concerned me, because places I've been always open freshly sanitized tools. At one point, she reached over and grabbed buffers/files from the next station that they were using on another customer. Cleanliness just wasn't a priority. My manicure itself was disappointing. I had to ask her to fill in big spots she missed, and the edges of my nails are ragged. She snipped at my cuticles on a couple of fingers but didn't really do any cleanup. The strangest part was when she finished the manicure by smothering my fingers in cuticle oil before saying, "All done!" I was left looking for napkins in my car to get all the goo off so I could drive home. read more

I've been coming here for the last 4-5 years since I moved to GR. While I wouldn't say that it's the nicest place around I've always thought the service and prices were good. The last year this place has gone completely downhill. My friend and I came in to get shellac and I wish I was kidding when I say both our manicures chipped the next day. Not only that but the nail stations are always covered in dust, nail clippings and residue from previous clients. I do not feel clean when I'm in there. However, it gets really bad when it comes to their acrylics. Vivian, the manager, is so rough to the point where she filed down an actual cut on my cuticle and I have red lines on my real nail that are visible through my acrylic. When I asked for my acrylics to be removed, instead of soaking them she pulled out an old acrylic nail out of her pocket, then proceeded to slide that under my nail and then rip off each of my acrylics one by one. I was holding back tears the entire time and she kept snapping at me asking if she can continue. My real nails are so sore and damaged. . I wouldn't consider this a professional nail salon in the slightest. I will say that the rest of the staff has always been polite but I would steer clear from Vivian. Not only is she rude and rough but she is on her cell phone the entire time, either FaceTiming or texting which prolongs the time it takes to get my nails done. She does not pay attention to detail either and every time she's done my nails, they're smudged or the lines on my French manicure isn't even straight. She also spends more time screaming at her employees then paying attention to nails. I literally dread getting my nails done here which is why I'm never going back. Getting your nails done should be relaxing and this is not the place where you'll feel relaxed in the slightest. read more

First time at this salon and I had the worst experience. I came in for a pedicure with shellac. they did not smooth out my nail prior to putting shellac on so it came out looking bumpy. I also paid extra for the sugar scrub and the guy only spent about a minute per leg with that scrub. my toe nails were not cleaned properly. the Sides still had excess hang nails and patchy skin. I wasted an hour for absolutely nothing. and at the end of this, they still told me I had to pay 35$ because a pedicure was done. a very very shitty pedicure. Thank you Ruby's for accommodating our wedding party of 6 all at once! We all got manis and pedis, with a few other things thrown in. They gave us a few bucks off our pedis for group discount. Linda, the owner was very nice and they made sure to give the bride special treatment (paraffin feet and hand dips). We all got french tips and they look great! They clean up the french line part as they paint, so it looks a lot better than just freehanding the line (does that make sense?) They have about 10 chairs for pedis, so definitely could have handled a few more people. They worked us well into their schedule and was able to handle our party and their normal walk in customers too. I was afraid we would be waiting around forever, but the whole endeavor only took about 1.5 hrs (a little longer because one girl came later). This is not your fancy pancy typical American Salon/Spa, but I would definitely recommend it for a well rounded Salon experience with very very reasonable pricing. They even have a separate room that is used for massages, whole body waxing, and facials. No over powering nail salon smell here. Design1 Spa & Salon (typical fancy American salon) was close by, but about double the price, so we passed on that. Thanks to all the staff at Ruby's for taking care of us! read more

Got a Shellac mani and just a reg pedi. Pedi was great. Love the color. Got to the mani. Got the wrong color. Tech didn't bother to see if it was the correct color. I didn't know they have a different method to doing nails than other shops did. But overall my nails were okay! I would just suggest to get pedis there. read more

I went there to get my nails done for my bridal shower, I used to go there all the time in high school they used to do a wonderful job. Yesterday I went in for a simple shellac manicure... safe to say I was highly disappointed the lady who did my nails was unaware of what she was doing she started then back tracked taking the nail color off to remember she needed to file my nails down! then did all my nails minus my ring finger on both hands. i woke up today not even 24 hours after my manicure and my middle finger nail is cracked!! highly disappointed and now I have to go get my nails redone. read more

I got my toes done with Acrylic and it burned it was only 33$ and definitely 33$ work I would not recommend coming here and it's 100 for a pedicure. They use things that are not supposed to be in a nail salon. read more

I work full time and barely get a chance to see my parents, so when my mom agreed to get her nails done with me, I was excited. I chose this place because of the high reviews online. We arrived on a Saturday afternoon, and immediately after seating, the manicurists (who did not know that my mother is fluent in Vietnamese) started berating us in front of our faces while wearing a pleasant smile. The female manicurist, who I believe is the owner, said "Oh, the old American [my mom] is disgusting. She has nasty hands and we are losing money serving them". Meanwhile, the middle-aged gentleman doing my nails abandoned me halfway through filing them, because I asked him to shape my nails consistently. The woman doing my mom's nails immediately took my mom's used file and started shaping my nails with it. Thankfully, it was just my mom so I don't really care, but if she had used a stranger's nail file on my hands, I would be disturbed. In fact, we did not see any Barbicide/alcohol being used on the tools at all. My mom is a retired, licensed manicurist, so she is familiar with the sanitation rules. The woman left, and in came a third person to work on my nails. They continued to complain about us, saying things such as "they're wasting time on us" and "should have charged her more because $45 is not enough". My mom had a scowl on her face and looked very upset. I knew something was wrong. We both felt very uncomfortable and she filled me in on the story once we left. Long story short, when you work in the customer service industry, do not berate clients in front of their faces (even in a different language). Hannah spent SO much time clipping my cuticles, filing my nails, and scraping any dead skin off. I also got the best 10 MINUTE leg/foot massage. We finally got around to having a pedicure after a long time without. We saw Ruby Nails and decided to give it a try. They also had a sign saying that as a special you can take $5 off of a pedicure. Score! We walked in and there were 3 other women getting pedicures, but they were able to start our hot water and get us seated right away. We decided to get the Deluxe Spa Pedicure which is normally priced at $33, but with the special we got them for $28. In addition to the normal cutting, scraping and rubbing, the deluxe includes a paraffin treatment and a lot of extra massaging. The paraffin treatment felt so good. We have never seen anyone give these before as part of a pedicure, but it was great. 9 hours later, our toes look great and our legs are nice and soft from all of the moisturizing and rubbing. The ladies were very nice. They always ask to make sure the water is a good temperature, the towels aren't too hot, massages are good, etc. The salon itself is quite large. 5 adult pedicure chairs and 1 small one for little girls. The massage chairs are kind of old and aren't the best, but when they do such a good job rubbing my feet and legs, I don't care that much. They have a waiting area in the front with toys for the kids and magazines for the adults. They play the radio over the speakers with a nice blend of pop music. We will most likely be coming back to Ruby for future pedicures. read more

I took my mom for her first pedicure, and we had a wonderful time. They had a gorgeous selection of colors, their massage chairs are super comfy, and they did a great job cleaning up my callouses. We got the deluxe spa pedis, and the price was very reasonable. They're also near the mall, and were able to take us as walk-ins right before Christmas. read more

I initially thought my biweekly fill went off without a hitch. I was able to get into the salon, sit down, pick a color, and get my nails started in less than five minutes. When I left, I was generally pleased with the experience. However, over the two weeks that passed, I grew more and more upset with how my nails appeared. I first want to talk about my experience during the fill itself. I didn't have an appointment, and the salon was fairly busy, but a woman sat me down to pick a color. But after I selected the color she moved me to get my nails done by another person. This didn't really bother me at the time, I've been moved around before. But in hindsight, I wish I had asked for a better nail tech. The man that did my nails did not talk to me much at all, instead making multiple calls on his cellphone, and even facetiming with his son on two separate occasions during my fill. I understand that sometimes calls to the family must be made, but these calls took up a majority of my fill. I also asked for my nails to be made shorter and rounder than what they were, and he acted very annoyed that he had to change their shape. The nails were also VERY short afterward - not at all like I had asked. But, I do work at a computer typing all day so I didn't really complain at the time. When I left, he refused my tip, which I thought was strange, but I had assumed that they didn't take tips as this was my first time at this location. After I left the salon and returned home, I noticed many bumps and smudges on my nails. Some nails were much rounder than others. It wouldn't be noticeable unless you were looking for it, but a salon should provide better services than that. As my nails grew out, I could tell something was VERY wrong. As my natural nail got more visible, so did a red line under the acrylic. The acrylic also looked like it was just sitting on top of my natural nail, kind of like a cheap press on nail would look. I have never had the red line during a fill, and when I got my latest fill at a different salon, he told me this red line is due to damage caused to my natural nail. This new nail tech said that in his 14 years of nail work he's never had that happen, and this person would have to be either uncaring or severely inexperienced to not notice this was happening and fix it. Because of Ruby's, my nails will take months to heal themselves. I will never give them my money again. read more

The techs are super nice and I once came in 40 minutes before close and they did my nails with no complaints! At first I had a great experience getting a pedi and acrylics from Ruby's. But the more I went, the more problems I had and saw of other customers. My acrylics began to fall off even after I got a fresh set. During a pedi with my friend, my friend got her toenails cut so far back they started to bleed. When I was getting a fill the lady next to me was getting her acrylics taken off and the salon tech took the tool to take off her acrylics (it's suppose to go in between the acrylic and your real nail to pop them off) and shoved it under her REAL NAIL and she began to bleed profusely. I went to have my acrylics taken off and they left so much on still you could see the thickness in my nail. I do not recommend this place to anyone anymore.
