Amazing 90 minute massage with Ron Mitchell. If you are in need of a deep tissue massage, Ron is a magician. He truly can sense all points of tension in your body and relieve the pains. He is very kind, knowledgeable and intuitive. Ruby room is a beautiful spot, tucked off of Division street.

Beautiful tuning fork they have a complete set here at Ruby Room for purchase

I've been an extremely loyal customer of the Ruby Room throughout the years even when I no longer lived here in Chicago and traveled abroad. I have a deep love for all things spiritual based and found some incredible healers here that I had the unique pleasure of connecting with. Over the years I purchased a beautiful frosted quartz chakra singing bowl a traditional metal singing bowl from Tibet and numerous crystals and essential oils. I had a strange shopping experience here last weekend which doesn't reflect the experiences I've had prior. Typically the staff here is absolutely welcoming with an incredible enthusiasm and intense knowledge of the products they carry. However my most recent shopping experience here was not what I would call pleasant. The new staff didn't greet me and when I went to pick out certain items like chimes from Bali; a few products here were unlabeled. They seemed confused and disoriented trying to look up pricing. In the future I suggest the owners make a point of labeling all products to make it easier for their new staff in training. I ended up purchasing a large Balinese wood chime for its excellent sound quality; but I'm upset with the young lady for not allowing me to keep the tag that was attached to my instrument. I think she did this intentionally so I couldn't order one of these down the road online. I also noticed they had chakra tuning forks. I bought one and asked her if she could put one on hold for me till Wednesday. It was a Sunday evening last week and she refused to help me stating she'd only hold it if I pay for it in advance. I'm so glad she chose to treat me this way because I was inspired to do my own research and found the complete set of chakra tuning forks online on etsy for a third of the cost of what they charged me here! Regardless I continued my shopping and found some beautiful new incense cones and rope incense. I've never used rope incense before and asked the young lady wearing glasses how to use it properly. She said : "I don't know. I never used it before. Use your intuition" I mean I literally don't want to waste products by lack of knowledge so I thought her answer was snarky. I ignored the clerk's cold vibes and continued to buy more incense and a tiny tiger's eye crystal. At the end of my shopping my bill came out to over $150. The young lady asked if I'd like a small pouch for my crystal that I just picked out. I asked her if it was free and she said no it's an additional charge of 75 Cents. I told her I'd pass. I mean seriously? After 14 years of shopping here and referring customers here and stopping in for crystals and she can't give me a tiny complimentary cloth bag? The other team members in the past were so much kinder and the previous managers would always hold an item for me for a 24 hour period. Here these kindnesses would be appreciated but they couldn't extend that courtesy with me or even feign a smile. I love the products here and before this one cold shopping experience I'd never had complaints but I'm leaving this review up here in the hopes it's used as constructive criticism moving forward. Oh and by the way I did use my intuition on how to properly use my rope incense I bought here and I also found the following paragraph cited on Google search in case anyone needs to know: [To burn your Rope Incense, light one end as you would a standard incense stick. Once it's alight, blow out the flame to allow the stick to smoulder and release its aromatic smoke. Rest a lit stick in a heatproof dish of sand or ash, or a Rope Incense Burner. Allow to cool before disposing of the ash.] To the owners of Ruby Room please label ALL your products clearly to make it easier on your staff when they are alone. Also advise them on how to properly use the products you are attempting to sell. Maybe let them know it's okay to provide a small pouch to any customer who spends over $100 at your new age store. Let them know it's okay to smile to your customers too.

Screenshot of my exchange with John were he offers to refund 50% if I remove the review.

Ruby Room changed the header image of their Yelp page today in order to remove photos of their Inn to support their claim that the Inn is not part of their business so that Yelp would remove my review. Proof that they are the same business can be found on their website if they have not switched their website after this review is posted: https://www.rubyroom.com/ If you scroll through, you will also find other reviews of the Inn that have not been removed. THIS OVERNIGHT REBRANDING WAS DONE SPECIFICALLY TO REMOVE MY REVIEW. Earlier today, owner Kate asked me to remove the review and owner John offered to refund 50% of my charge if I removed it. I had not accepted. I have attached a screenshot of this exchange with John, as well as a screenshot of their Yelp business page header from yesterday that included photos of the Inn. Luckily I still had the page open in my browser. RUBY ROOM SPA & SHOPS AND RUBY ROOM INN ARE THE SAME BUSINESS. THEY ARE TRYING TO FOOL YELP TO REMOVE REVIEWS THAT THEY DO NOT LIKE. Here is the original review: I've stayed in hotels, inns, and hostels of various quality all over the world, but this was hands-down the worst experience I've ever had. If you are considering staying here, beware: RUBY ROOM INN IS A CATFISH. 1. SAFETY: The keys to bedrooms and access code info for each floor are kept in a mailbox in front of the building on a busy sidewalk for anyone to grab. Additionally, the locks to my room did not work properly. I had to kick the door about 20 times to get the deadbolt to lock. Also, the "garden" is accessible to anyone at all hours of the night, and has a staircase that leads right up to the rooms. 2. FILTHY: The bathroom had not been cleaned. The sink was full of man pubes, the area around the toilet was disgusting, and the bathroom trash had not been emptied. To top it off, the bed duvet had stains. See photos. 3. NO TOWELS: Even though my check in time was 3pm, towels didn't show up until sometime after I left, around 9pm. After my long trip, all I wanted to do was take a shower. I had to use my travel blanket as a towel and a t-shirt as a bath mat. 4. NOISE: On my second night, there was a huge party in the "garden" that lasted until 5am. Club music blasting all night long. People screaming. I was afraid one someone was going to stumble up the stairs and try to get into my room or something. Didn't sleep at all. 5. OWNER JOHN WAS A HUGE JERK: There is no one on sight to help you. If there's a problem, like towels missing, etc, you are out of luck, because your only option is to call this guy John, who will make it very clear that he would rather have you leave "his hotel" than deal with you. When I called about the broken locks and missing towels, he talked to me like he was trying to calm down a dog. As I was trying to get the lock to work, he said I sounded "too frustrated to make happy" and that I should find another hotel. Even after I explained that I didn't have time to find another hotel because my stay was so brief and I had someplace to be in a few hours, he began texting me other hotel options, which I found incredibly tacky. He made it very clear that he didn't want the business of someone who was requesting towels and basic security. Other things of note: The "garden view" they claim to have is really just the view of a slab of cement that is accessible to anyone on the street. See photo. Bathroom electrical socket didn't work and a part of the bathroom ceiling was exposed. See photo. THERE IS NO ELEVATOR. They hide this information in 13px font on the website, which is not even ADA web compliant because it's too hard to read. Upon leaving they say to check out with the "concierge" after 11am. The "concierge" is really just the clerk at the New Age shop/spa under the hotel, and this shop was closed. But this is just more proof that the Spa, Shop, and Inn are the SAME BUSINESS.

This is the most economical, aesthetically pleasing, safe, and pleasingly eclectic hotels to stay at when visiting Chicago. It is a historic property, so there are no elevators and the rooms are up a wonderfully narrow set of stairs or two, but the benefits of being right in the main drag of Wicker Park (just a quick 3 miles to downtown), cannot be overstated. The rooms are modern, with goose down pillows, 500 thread count linens and sheets, and quirky quilts and object d'art that really make it easy to not notice the lack of a tv or a wired telephone (which most of us never use). The prices are downright cheap and that's one of the reasons that we use this place very regularly. It is in a great, central piece of Chi-town surrounded by shops, great breakfast nooks, and unique shops, where you can save money and travel to the craziness of downtown at will. I love this place and everyone we have put up here swears they would use it again. It is a hidden gemstone which, curiously, is also one of the many holistic specialties of the adjoining "Ruby Room" retail store which should NOT be missed. Absolutely, it should be visited.

Pendulums and crystals on the main table

**This review is for Ruby Room's mini location on Delaware.** My god JEFF IS A DREAM. I stumbled on this little crystal and card shop on my way to my office and had no idea what a treat I was in for. It was lovely listening to Jeff talk to a family about crystals, cards, Ruby Room, and life in general. For a store that's so teeny tiny I would expect him (and everyone else) to struggle to move around to look at products, get free readings, and try on tester scents but somehow there was just enough room for all of us. I enjoyed getting to know my fellow crystal-searchers over the main table. The place was laid out so well and prices are comparable to other crystal shops I've seen in Chicago. It felt like a shimmering retreat in the concrete of downtown. Holy moly is this place beautiful. And Jeff is a welcoming, relatable, hospitable concierge guiding you through the whole process from start to finish, no matter your level of experience with crystals or spirituality. He said he wasn't at that location often but I hope to see him again soon. A sparkling store with a sparkling representative. Phenomenal!

I NO LONGER FEEL "SAFE" AT THIS WALGREENS!…read more This is not about the service I received in the Greek town location. It's about what happened after I left the store. This occurred approximately 14-hours ago (12:30-ish am/2/3/24). It was around mid-night that I decided to walk down the street a few blocks to Walgreens. I only purchased cereal and milk... and a small bag of popcorn. For the record, hopefully everything inside the store was caught on the security cameras. While shopping in the aisles, I had spoken to a police officer who was shopping, thanking him for his service. They do a job that you couldn't pay me enough to do. Anyway, after walking slowly through the store (I walk slow due to health problems), I paid for each item then stepped aside to make room for the next customer while I looked at my receipt and put the items in my own (blue & white) shopping bag. It's made of a sort of sturdier than paper cloth. I got myself together and finally exited the store at a slow walking pace. By the time I reached the traffic light at the end of the block (going north at Monroe), I stopped to open my bag of popcorn. I was struggling to open the bag, due to health problems). Suddenly, a slightly taller than me, heavy-set male approached me from behind, demanding in a threatening tone to show him what's in my bag. I initially thought I was being robbed. I slowly turned around asking, "Why? (trying to stall and access)". The street was dark, isolated, and no traffic. Where's a cop car when you need one? Hey. There's a cop inside the Walgreens. That said, the guy kept demanding I show him what's in my bag. Was I being mugged? I asked, "Who are you?" He seemed to get frustrated not answering my question and demanded I show him the contents of my bag. Now, I really think I'm getting mugged. I still asked him, "Why?" He got even more frustrated and said, "Just open your bag!" Once again, I asked "Why?" Was this a hungry homeless person?,,, Retarded?... I mean, mentally challenged. Should I scream? I suddenly thought to myself... Is this a Trayvon Martin/George Zimmerman moment (Feb 26, 2012) when a non-Black guy (hiding a gun on his person) stalks a lone African-American male in a dark, isolated area with no witnesses to start a physical altercation (fight) after which said non-Black guy pulls out the gun he was hiding, to murder the African-American male... Then claim he feared for his life, shooting in self-defense of the altercation he started with a guy who was minding his own business? He then said something like. "There's a box in your bag". A box? I turned to look inside my bag to see what box he was referring to. Before I knew it, he reached inside my bag and grabbed my box of cereal (Cheerios) and walked off real fast in the direction of the Walgreens. Did I mention, I don't walk fast? I walked back to the store to tell the police officer inside (provided he was still there) and the Walgreens that I had just been robbed by a hungry homeless person. He took my box of Cheerios and ran off. I still had the milk. I was willing to risk it sounding funny, By the time I reached the front entrance, the young woman who waited on me at the cash register met the guy just outside the store. She was talking to him. Oh... Is this moron a Walgreens employee who didn't have the sensed to identify himself as such? He was not wearing a Security uniform, and he was not the police. When I got there, the cashier was so apologetic. She told me that after my very slow departure from the store, an alarm went off. Really? It must've been silent because I didn't hear any alarm... and I was walking slow as a snail. I asked, "This is what sent this moron (still standing there for some reason) stalking down the street behind me?"... Oh... I get it now... He was treating me like I was a CRIMINAL. He expected me to blindly do as he said while refusing to answer my basic questions ("Who are you?" and "Why do you want to see what's in my bag?") Had I realized that, this would've ended with me cussing him da'hell out on the street... and probably escalating. Why didn't anyone tell the cop inside the store? Why send an inexperienced, over-excited, don't know anything employee who is not even law enforcement to assault me? OK. Now I can't help this. Was it because I'm black? Although the cashier apologized, this incident is still with me. For all I know, I was targeted, it was done one purpose, and I'm not convinced it won't happen again. Anyway, I just thought I should document this incident somewhere, in case incidents like this happen all the time to black people at this Walgreens location... or any others.

They said I need to go to urgent care for that. I go to urgent care, they find nothing wrong, I go to my primary doctor they find nothing wrong. Months later it is still there, I have a routine cleaning. They tell me I need a root canal and the bump is from a root canal. They went ahead and quoted me thousands of dollars and made an appt for me with the endodontist for this to happen. I thought this was strange, so I wanted to go see an endodontist somewhere else to get a second option. So I head over to aspen dental, the endodontist took X-rays and a quick check, and said nothing is wrong but it looks like you have an overdue filling that caused your gums to swell. Chicago dental was going to preform a completely unnecessary procedure on me. I told them there is a filling I need done, they saw the images and filled it. I'm not sure if it's a money scan or truly a lack of knowledge. They cost me thousands of dollars telling me in the first place the bump I had was nothing they could deal with when in reality it was just an overdue filling. The front desk staff is very unknowledgeable and never should have let this situation happen.

I've lost my confidence, my skinny bbl doesn't look great, can't find a solution because I have skin laxity on my back and stomach, scarring/tethering (again this is from the aggressive lipo she did and how she used the surgical tools), Lipo fibrosis on stomach and back and yes the upper back looks bigger. I followed all the instructions of wearing the compression garment and everything. The problem wasn't the aftercare instructions I perfectly followed, the problem was the poor surgical technique. She did aggressive lipo on me, took out too much fat because I was thin and ruined the look of my skin. I now have 2 rolls on my back that I never had before my procedure and I feel always bloated for some odd reason no matter what I eat healthy or not even though my diet didn't change. I only gained about 10 pounds (still at a weight women would love) but even with that if the surgical skills were good the body would grow out nice and even, it wouldn't look botched. I wish she rejected me and told me to come back in a year or 2 if I want something permanent after I try something temporary. I wish she told me thoroughly and openly what kind of problems can come up (this was only briefly discussed and none of the problems I have now were discussed as potential issues after surgery). I wish she gave me a temporary option or smaller procedure not as damaging as a first solution to see what it would look like. I didn't receive any other options. I think plastic surgeons (especially ones who've had botched outcomes from their work) need to give a couple options and really think about if the contouring will look nice with each option so the patient can have a good long term outcome and more people will trust them for procedures. Dr. Cobbins took away the most thing that made me confident back then and damaged my body. I am struggling in every way imaginable because of this procedure done by Dr. Lorri Cobbins. The most perfect parts of my body were ruined because of horrible surgical technique and now I am left grieving it. I struggle every day to look for a way to fix it and I'm too afraid to go to someone else that may further damage me. I don't take photos anymore like I used to, I don't try on clothes when I shop like I want to. I can't look at myself in the mirror the same way. Please if you want a better/different look try temporary cosmetic things first so they go away if you don't like them and you don't have to live with the permanent result of a botched procedure.
