Chicken St Charles is the way. Beautifully seasoned. I love tomato's so One Tomato Two Tomato was delicious. Shrimp n Grits is something you need to try once. It's amazing even if it's not your style.

If you're anywhere near Metairie and not stopping at The Ruby Slipper, you're doing brunch wrong. We came in with a large party, and not only was the food out of this world, but we had the absolute pleasure of being served by Ronnie--who is, without question the best server we have ever had. Ronnie was phenomenal from the moment we sat down. He handled our big group with grace, humor, and a level of attentiveness that truly went above and beyond. Clever, funny, and completely on top of it--Ronnie made sure every cup stayed filled and everyone was happy (and laughing). Now, let's talk food--because WOW.

The Eggs Cochon were melt-in-your-mouth delicious, the French Toast Bites were addictive, the Peach Beignets were dreamy, and the Mix and Match Benedicts let us try a little of everything. And the drinks? Perfectly crafted and...

I would say, I do wish the fried chicken in the sandwich was seasoned, but hey, it was still good! Great service and looking forward to having another breakfast here soon!

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Great casual brunch spot with a cozy, laid-back vibe.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The biscuits were fresh, buttery, and easily the standout of the meal. The coffee was excellent too...smooth and flavorful. Perfect place for a relaxed breakfast or brunch, and I'd definitely come back for the biscuits alone.

Was recommended by a local to try this place out and was not disappointed AT ALL!! The fried green tomatoes are a MUST GET, I mean they were just absolutely DELICIOUS! The toppings on them with their sauce is just perfection!! Coffee was solid as well--the vanilla iced latte was just right! When it came to the other food, everyone practically loved their choices! I would say, I do wish the fried chicken in the sandwich was seasoned, but hey, it was still good! Great service and looking forward to having another breakfast here soon!

The place was PACKED so I feel it would be better to let guests know there's an hour wait BEFORE seating them at a table & taking the order. We waited an hour before getting our food. I wouldn't have minded as much if the food was great but the chicken sandwich was overcooked and hard and the fries were soft droopy and not crispy! On the other hand my husband enjoyed his breakfast especially the surprise fried green tomato! The waitress was exceptional & super friendly. The food was good per usual, but geez- the wait! We put our name on the list before arriving to the restaurant so no issue there. When we sat down, our server greeted us and offered drinks immediately- no issue there. But then... we waited about 30-45 mins just to get our appetizer and then another 30 for our food. The waitress did apologize many times and let us know how many orders were ahead of ours and we overheard her telling the table next to ours that most of the kitchen staff had called out so they were very backed up. Overall the experience wasn't terrible because we were patient and not famished. The table next to ours was quite upset and anxious because they said they were starving which i understand... i wish they would've let us know the kitchen situation before we sat down so we could make a choice.

I think I've officially visited all of the Ruby Slipper locations, and I can honestly say I love every one of them. This spot has a great location right off Vets and offers the same fantastic menu options I've come to enjoy. On our recent visit, we ordered the Spanish Omelette and the Country Breakfast--both arrived quickly and absolutely filled us up. I highly recommend this Ruby Slipper!

Ruby slipper is my go to when I come to NOLA. The bread pudding pancakes were rich and delicious. With them being bread pudding they were a little doughy but not bad. Super sweet. The latte was delicious not too sweet but good espresso. Service was mid, we had to send back some cold food but they were prompt with correcting the order.

Great spot to get brunch around New Orleans. They have a big menu with all tasty options. I came late on a Saturday morning and was promptly seated. I got the bacon bite things as an appetizer and let me tell you, it was delicious. I forgot to snap a picture of the biscuits and gravy, but it was great. I got a plain biscuit and fried green tomatoes to go and they were good. Reasonable prices. Been here a few times but there's never really a wow factor. It's convenient when I don't want to go deep into the city, and reasonably priced. Today service was exceptionally slow. The waiter blamed it on the kitchen being backed up but I saw people getting food that came after us and ordered after us. It's ok but not the "go to".

My server was wonderful - I forgot her name- I purchased gift cards and her manager had to show her how to do them since it was her first time. Her other table had gotten upset although she kept in constant communication with them and brought their items out in a timely fashion. The food was delicious as always! Whenever I come to New Orleans, I go to a Ruby Slipper for breakfast - it's the best. This was my first time at the Veterans location. We went during a busy time and parking was a bit of a nightmare, no space in the lot and not much room on surrounding streets unless you're willing to take your chances and park in a spot where you could be towed. The food took longer than expected, but our waitress stopped by frequently to update us on status. When the food came out, it was worth the wait! I always get the cinnamon roll pancakes with a vanilla spice latte - delicious! read more

I'm not a breakfast person. Everyone seemed to like what they ordered. I just got an overpriced pancake. It was ok. Could probably get the same quality at ihop for less. My husband ordered a sausage biscuit. They gave him links. It was difficult to eat. Patties on a biscuit make more sense. It's extremely noisy in the restaurant. Parking was a nightmare. We parked across the street and walked. Kind of inconvenient. read more

VERY DISAPPOINTED! We have visited several times with mostly positive experiences, but this time was totally off. The service was slow despite not many patrons. The food wasn't fresh. The french toast were cold. The biscuits tasted old and stale. My husband had the breakfast taco which were stuffed with scrambled eggs but the taco shells weren't grilled and the toppings of pico de gallo & avocado weren't fresh. A friend and I stopped at this place one day a couple weeks ago (sorry I'm moving and trying to catch up) Was empty when we arrived but by the time we were leaving it was filling up. Our waitress was ok, food was good and plentiful and sadly I forgot to take pictures. My friend had French toast and I got French toast bites, we both got the candied bacon... yummmm I'll be back! Came in on Saturday morning at about 11:30 and waited 30-40 minutes to be seated. Once sat we were greeted by our server and put an order in for an appetizer, entree and kids meal. Between 20-30 minutes later we got the appetizer which was drowned in oil/grease and topped with boiled pork balls. We asked it to be taken back, it was absolutely terrible. Our chicken st Charles came out and the kids chicken biscuit. The fries that came with the biscuit were about 10 fries which were soggy and cold. The chicken for the biscuit was overcooked, dry and had a bald spot from being fried too hard. As did the chicken on our chicken st Charles. Service was good and our waitress was very apologetic and sweet, food was absolutely terrible and super slow coming out. I hope they get some help and try to fix this for future customers. Things are too expensive now to just throw money away on them. The restaurant was pretty packed as expected and seemed to be kept pretty clean by the floor staff which again were all very nice. Clean restaurant, great bussers and wait staff but subpar food. read more

Just had the best breakfast. I literally cant ever remember better. Imagine that! Had amazing peach beignets. The best ever. Soo different and creamy than the famous tourist ones. Then has shrimp and grits with fried green tomato. Best of that I've had too! Came with a beautiful biscuit and I also ordered a creamy vanilla iced coffee and ate outside on this beautiful day. My waitress Jeney was smiley and nice and responded cheerfully to my cheerfulness and so made my breakfast perfect. Btw, I was here cause our new car is in the shop getting something check out, so this meal sure lightened my mood. Will surely be back whenever my car calls me to! read more

I was disappointed- my husband ordered biscuits and gravy-- limited gravy asked for extra gravy- they brought a small bowl of gravy. I had the Southern breakfast- asked for the eggs to be cooked dry - the eggs were so greasy and the biscuits were cold . I checked the receipt and there was an extra charge for the gravy! First time here...had visited the magazine location once before...many issues with this location tho...first off...ordered the pig candy bacon...the bacon was soggy and undercooked...very disappointed as a bacon lover...ordered the breakfast potatoes on the side (recommend by waitress)...cold and undercooked....my wife's biscuit was hard as a rock...could've used it as a hockey puck On the bright side...My main course meal the Peacemaker and the rest of my wife's meal were good...and both had a great flavor...and saved this review from a one star review Maybe it was just a bad day for this location...but I won't be back (might just stick to my mom and pop diners for breakfast)...but will definitely visit the magazine location if I ever want Ruby Slipper again read more

Greeted upon arrival. This was my first visit to the new location on Veterans in Metairie. I often frequent the Old Metairie location. Ordered my usual, custom banana pecan pancakes, scrambled egg and grits. The pancakes were undercooked, batter was oozing out when I cut into them, the eggs were over cooked and scalded, but the grits were the life saver of the meal. I ate the grits and some of the eggs, a few bites from the edges of the pancakes until I got to the center and tasted nothing but pancake batter. I waited for the waiter to come around for me to show her the pancakes. She even said "ugh" when she saw how much batter was there. She took the pancakes back and they offered to remake them for me. They did not offer to comp the undone food or anything. Only said they would remake them. I'm not one to throw a fit, so I said ok and asked if they could make them to go, because at that point I didn't have an appetite. I have been to numerous Ruby Sipper restaurants and this was by far the worst experience. I will say my waiter was very friendly. read more

I decided to try this place for the first time and came at around noon. It was understandably busy. We were greeted by our server quickly, she took our drink and starter order and then eventually came and took our food order. We got our drinks quickly. It took about 20 minutes for our starter and about 45 minutes for our food to come out. One of the other workers brought us our food and we had zero utensils. We asked the host stand if they had utensils and they said we should wait for our server, we waited probably about 5 minutes just staring at our food, winded up asking the bar for utensils and at that point, our eggs were cold. Our server never checked on us once. No refills, nothing. She came and picked up our plates, and we asked for the check. She came back with a piece of receipt paper of a bill and just placed it on our table and walked away. We were confused thinking that we pay at the host stand. So I went to ask and they said no, wait for your server... She came back about ten minutes later with the tablet to check us out. It was incredibly frustrating considering that the LOWEST tip option is listed at 22%!!! You can select custom but she was staring us down waiting for us to select an option. I work in the service industry and all of this was UNACCEPTABLE. The food was amazing. Was it worth the experience? No. Maybe we just had a bad server? I did notice another woman and man who were prompt with their tables. read more

When your food comes out in 2 seconds it's going to be bad. Food literally came out 1 minute after ordering. Poached eggs came in a cup of cloudy water. Ordered Costa Rican breakfast with fried eggs and the eggs were so overdone i could've knocked someone out with them. Most importantly as another reviewer mentioned, the scrambled eggs were fake! They were either powdered eggs or liquid eggs so disgusting and crazily overpriced for mid quality food. read more

We were seated and ordered in a decent amount of time since I used the online waiting; however, our food came after an hour of ordering! We see people seated after us and got their food before us. Wonderful! they were super busy, I got there around 10 put my name down it was about 20 minute wait. We were called back exactly the amount of time that was told. Friendly and professional staff. There was a lot less shrimp, the sauce had the same Cajun flavor but was clumpy as if old and the crab cake we ordered--something we also loved on our last visit--was much smaller, but increased from $5 to $8. For a place in New Orleans, where the food scene is such a huge draw, that was pretty disappointing. That said, not everything missed the mark. Ashley, the bartender, was fantastic--friendly, attentive, and really added to the experience. Also, the gentleman opening the door was incredibly kind and welcoming. Their hospitality ended up being the highlight of the visit. I still have great memories from my first time here, but this visit just didn't hit the same. Hoping it was an off night. I spoke with the manager Kelly on the same day of service but I was not satisfied with the resolution of offering a free appetizer on my next visit when purchasing an entree. Sad to say but that was my last visit. Kelly was really nice and listened but maybe her hands are tied with how the restaurant is ran and what she can offer. I didn't need a refund or a total order replacement but something else could've been recommended. $30 is a steep price for 9 shrimp in a pasta that was clunky/lumpy and not smooth as times in the past. Maybe it was because it was a togo order but most of my orders from this business had been to go, not all but most. In all, this falls on the chef that prepared this meal and I was informed by Kelly that the chef started everything was weighed and correctly accounted for however it was the cook on the pasta and lack of shrimp. Ruby Slippers is a must-try brunch spot in New Orleans, and for good reason--it's a local favorite for a reason. There's something on the menu for everyone, the food is consistently delicious, and the service is top-notch (shoutout to our server John). Be prepared for a bit of a wait during peak brunch hours, but trust me, it's totally worth it. On this visit, we made sure to try the ROASTED SWEET POTATO SEASONAL BEIGNETS, and they were absolutely amazing--definitely a must-order. For an appetizer, we went with the FRIED GREEN TOMATOES, which were topped with lettuce, tomatoes, and bacon jam. Honestly, this could've been an entrée on its own! By the time my main course arrived, I was already pretty full, but I went ahead with the PEACEMAKER, which lets you mix and match two of their benedicts. I opted for the BAYOU SHRIMP and ST. CHARLES, and while I may have bitten off more than I could chew, everything was so delicious that I'm glad I had a chance to try it all. I stopped by Ruby Slipper for lunch and was thoroughly impressed. The Gouda grits, fried chicken, and Brussels sprouts made for a fantastic midday meal. The creamy grits were full of flavor, the fried chicken was crispy and juicy, and the Brussels sprouts were perfectly roasted with just the right amount of seasoning. This was a special moment for me. I was getting brunch with my niece. i haven't seen my niece is 5-6 years. I am not from the area so this was my first time here. Desiree' hooked us up with the French toast bites and they are amazing!!!! My frat brothers are in town for the 85th anniversary of our chapter at Dillard University. So glad this location opened on vets. Our server Mia was attentive and kept our drinks filled. We had the biscuits and gravy with add on of fried chicken, loaded tots and classic breakfast.
