We visited at 10:00 on Mother's Day, but as we were "wait listed', there was no wait. The place was busy, but our server, Kirra", was great. The menu is slightly shorter than the one on-line however. The food was delicious, and although busy, we weren't hurried at all. Seated near the hostess stand, I watched as a menu fell to the floor. A server immediately picked it up (without looking around to see if she was observed), sanitized it, and put it where it belonged. A more unprofessional server would have just picked it up off the floor and put it back in the stack. I give them extra points for this! read more

As a huge fan of Ruby Slipper in NOLA and having none in NY, I had to visit while in town - my second time at this location, my first back in 2024 - which was great! This time felt the food wasn't up to par - my eggs cochon cold, replaced and eggs not cooked correctly - ugh - but I wasn't sending it back a second time! We were seated upstairs and out of the way, there was a stench from the bathrooms - which I don't think have been deep cleaned EVER - wafting throughout the downstairs!!! Please, please improve as I do love your food and don't ever want to be disappointed!! I'd been to Ruby Slipper in New Orleans before, so I knew what to expect with the menu at Ruby Sunshine. This chain is expanding and it seems that they're moving forward with the Ruby Sunshine name as they do so. They're known for their southern brunch dishes, and brunch happens to be my favorite meal, so I was happy to stop by before heading back home. The restaurant was empty when I arrived around 9 am on a weekday morning. They were doing quite a bit of takeout/DoorDash. I got the Southern Breakfast, which is their take on the classic breakfast plate, with two eggs any style, stone-ground grits, Applewood-smoked bacon, fried green tomato with a buttermilk biscuit. My server was very sweet and helpful. The food didn't take too long to come out, and everything looked great. The eggs were cooked perfectly over medium and I loved the crispy bacon. The grits were cheesy (upcharge for cheese) but a little bland - some Crystal hot sauce helped. I loved the fried green tomato! It was super crispy and the breading was nicely seasoned. The biscuit was delicious - I'm not normally a big biscuit person but it's true, they taste better in the south. Plus the honey butter was amazing. I saw this restaurant featured on TikTok and I was so excited to try it. We were downtown for a morning show on a week day and I insisted on eating here. There was no wait and it was pretty empty. Probably because of it being a week day. Our waitress was nice and helpful with the menu. The food was just ok. I was expecting more for the price. The beignet appetizer was over cooked. We had the trifecta, a breakfast sandwich, a breakfast bowl and kids pancakes. The biscuits were hard and the pork in the trifecta and bowl was dry. The kids pancakes were good. We did go about 45 minutes before they closed so that may be the reason for parts of our meal not tasting fresh. I would definitely give it another try! read more

This is my favorite breakfast spot in the down town area since it opened. They have the best pancakes in town. Always fluffy and thick. Then you add the applewood bacon to it and you really have a good meal. I am a simple breakfast person, eggs bacon and pancakes and Ruby Sunshine hits all the buttons for me. Bright, cheery, creative space with delicious breakfast options and friendly service. We love establishments that excel at breakfast-brunch, and this place does that in spades. The menu offers something for everyone, but in this family an entire menu section devoted to benedicts is always a win. And they were perfectly cooked which isn't always the case. Plus the signature 'ruby mimosa' was a nice change with a splash of pomegranate juice. We arrived early so seating wasn't an issue, but it was packed by the time we finished so plan accordingly. This place is loosen your belt southern cooking with flash. Big portions of flavorful food are delivered in a restaurant nicely decorated or you can sit outside and dine al fresco. We had to wait 30 minutes when we stopped in on a Sunday morning after church. I wish I had known that you can seat yourself at the bar, if room is available. A couple of savvy locals snagged them before I realized that was an option. Even though I had plenty of time to look I struggled with so many choices of standard southern meals but also the many eggs Benedict choices. My cousin ordered pancakes and I got 'Peacemaker' which is a choice of two eggs Benedict's. This was super flavorful and the sauce was to die for. I also got the rosemary breakfast potatoes. We both really enjoyed our meals and took the time to relax from running around the Big Ears festival. We got coffee and they sell the red slipper mugs if you want a souvenir to take home. We took two. The only downside is the food took awhile to be delivered to our table. We had a fun and attentive server so no complaints there. I'm addicted to their Migas, I order them every time, but my wife mixes it up with between Migas, French toast and their sausage gravy and biscuits. What should be a 3.5 star review, I'll give them a 4 due to it being a holiday. We were able to eat outside and didn't have to wait to be seated. At the table we indulged ourselves with a peach Bellini, a duo of specialties: bananas foster French toast and biscuits and gravy, and a duo of omelets: Florentine with cheddar grits and the gulf shrimp with pepper Jack grits. The bananas fosters French toast was stellar as always, could've used a tad bit more syrup but overall solid dish. Both omelets were given tasty reviews and the gulf shrimp omelet surprisingly had many pieces of shrimp mixed in. The grits we creamy and had great texture. The letdown was the biscuits and gravy. The food wasn't the most warm when it came out and the gravy had an interesting favor and texture. The dish overall could've used more gravy as well. The eggs were nicely cooked and bacon was fine. After having 3 other strong and tasty dishes at the table, it was just a disappointment, especially since it was listed as a speciality. I would continue to return just because it is a staple on market square for brunch but if you're looking for savory biscuits and gravy, I'd look elsewhere or opt for something different on the menu. read more

Then I ordered the original French toast with fresh strawberries came with two strawberries no syrup I pretty much finished my whole meal before they even brought us syrup. Nothing too spectacular about it I could have made it in my kitchen in my house. Probably would have tasted better. I also asked for crispy bacon came out raw. They did remake it and it did come out better.My husband ordered the BLT that came with a fried green tomato on it no seasoning bland. "dog food"! The service was awful no one came to refill our drinks no one asked us however Mia was they left dirty dishes on our dinky small table so we had nowhere to put anything. What a delightful spot on the edge of Market Square! We were quickly greeted and seated (by masked workers, FYI). Our server was super sweet and patient and we were checked on just the right amount. There is a nice outdoor seating area and a spacious interior. We ordered: -French toast bites: yessss! Great for a table to split, as it is a hearty heap of fried french toast squares. The cream cheese drizzle is amazing and the praline sauce tastes great with it. -Biscuits and Gravy + sweet heat fried chicken: If you order biscuits and gravy and it's not a meaty gravy, it really has to deliver...and this one was great! Two biscuit mountains topped with a flavorful, thick, savory, and perfectly-seasoned gravy. The eggs and bacon were perfectly cooked, too. Hubby was so glad he ordered the side of sweet heat chicken, though, as it was the star of the breakfast show. -The Peacemaker=great for the indecisive (ME) and allows you to choose 2 of the 8 benedicts to mix-and-match. After viewing Yelp pics, I knew I needed Chicken St. Charles and then opted for the Corned Beef. The biscuits were halved and soft and buttery. The eggs perfectly poached. The Chicken St. Charles was absolutely my favorite, as the chicken is amazing and the tasso cream addicting. The only things we would have changed were the luke-warm temp of the benedicts and the biscuits and gravy. The chicken, eggs, and french toast bites were fresh and hot. I would not order the corned beef again, as it was incredibly salty and we couldn't finish it. And that's coming from a salt lover. ;-) Overall, we really enjoyed our experience. I've been here a half dozen times and this visit was by far, my best experience to date. If you're in a rush, this isn't the place for you, as this location for brunch will typically set you back a 30-45 min wait for a table and then another 20-30 min food wait once you put your order in. However, although this is a chain restaurant, the mimosas are quite nice, the staff is incredibly friendly and professional, the environment is inviting and relaxing, and the food is great. Although this visit I didn't get any apps, I've had most of them on the menu, and I would recommend any of them, so try away. If you're looking for a place local to Knoxville, this isn't the place, but if you want a good biscuit-based brunch spot, this is the place for you. read more
