Bright, cheery, creative space with delicious breakfast options and friendly service. We love establishments that excel at breakfast-brunch, and this place does that in spades. The menu offers something for everyone, but in this family an entire menu section devoted to benedicts is always a win. And they were perfectly cooked which isn't always the case. Plus the signature 'ruby mimosa' was a nice change with a splash of pomegranate juice. We arrived early so seating wasn't an issue, but it was packed by the time we finished so plan accordingly. OMG, we travel over and hour a few times a year leaving our home at 7am just to get there early so we can beat the crowd. I'm addicted to their Migas, I order them every time, but my wife mixes it up with between Migas, French toast and their sausage gravy and biscuits. This place is loosen your belt southern cooking with flash. Big portions of flavorful food are delivered in a restaurant nicely decorated or you can sit outside and dine al fresco. We had to wait 30 minutes when we stopped in on a Sunday morning after church. I wish I had known that you can seat yourself at the bar, if room is available. A couple of savvy locals snagged them before I realized that was an option. Even though I had plenty of time to look I struggled with so many choices of standard southern meals but also the many eggs Benedict choices. My cousin ordered pancakes and I got 'Peacemaker' which is a choice of two eggs Benedict's. This was super flavorful and the sauce was to die for. I also got the rosemary breakfast potatoes. We both really enjoyed our meals and took the time to relax from running around the Big Ears festival. We got coffee and they sell the red slipper mugs if you want a souvenir to take home. We took two. The only downside is the food took awhile to be delivered to our table. We had a fun and attentive server so no complaints there. It was just I was really hungry after waiting for a table. I definitely will be back and remember to save up some calories for the splurge. read more

If you do, that's on you because the portions are large enough that we almost always have leftovers. Like I said, I love their Eggs Benedict selection so I usually choose The Trifecta. It features three different servings of Bennies - Eggs Cochon, Chicken St. Charles, and Bayou Shrimp. This time I decided to try the Anita Beer Braised Beef Benedicts with a seasonal red velvet pancake on the side (as if I needed any more to eat). I couldn't resist. Got my favorite Migas again, this time with crawfish. My chips were crispy for the first time so I actually got to eat them! I had to get back home to work but the server put my order in quickly and I got my food fast. :) The girls got French toast bites and the seasonal Beignets. I went here around 1 o'clock ish, walking in the hostess was on her phone and took a minute to get to us. No big deal, it's slow and a cold day. As we get seated, our server was nice and helped us decide what to get. We place our order and I notice the bartenders kept touching their face and nose without washing hands after. I'm not super picky when it comes to that. although she kept repeating touching her nose. Not to mention she also grabbed a cup and other dishes after doing so. Soon later we get our food, it was lukewarm warm at most. It wasn't anything special. Not worth what I paid. Not to mention they don't have ranch, which did upset me as that's my go to as someone with autism and find comfort into the basic condiments. I got the Chicken St. Charles - which was my absolutely favorite; the fried chicken was fresh, crunchy and so moist! I got the OG as my second benny and it was fine. My husband got the peace maker. It's an order on the menu that allows you to chose between two different meals and have it portioned. It was delicious! Although we could taste that everything was made from scratch, we had a hard time reconciling the meal to the portion. We're assuming we're paying for convenience of having two different meals in smaller sizes. I got the banana and raisin French toast. I asked to remove raisins. I also got side of eggs and bacon. What should be a 3.5 star review, I'll give them a 4 due to it being a holiday. We were able to eat outside and didn't have to wait to be seated. The service was average, a little slow/longer of a wait for our food to come out than usual but overall a solid visit for breakfast. At the table we indulged ourselves with a peach Bellini, a duo of specialties: bananas foster French toast and biscuits and gravy, and a duo of omelets: Florentine with cheddar grits and the gulf shrimp with pepper Jack grits. The bananas fosters French toast was stellar as always, could've used a tad bit more syrup but overall solid dish. Both omelets were given tasty reviews and the gulf shrimp omelet surprisingly had many pieces of shrimp mixed in. The grits we creamy and had great texture. The letdown was the biscuits and gravy. The food wasn't the most warm when it came out and the gravy had an interesting favor and texture. The dish overall could've used more gravy as well. The eggs were nicely cooked and bacon was fine. After having 3 other strong and tasty dishes at the table, it was just a disappointment, especially since it was listed as a speciality. I would continue to return just because it is a staple on market square for brunch but if you're looking for savory biscuits and gravy, I'd look elsewhere or opt for something different on the menu. read more

First thing is that this restaurant is woke! Now if you are ok with that you should know that this restaurant is terrible. I would have had better food at a waffle House. We had to wait 20 minutes for our table. I was ok with but when we get our table it so Small there was hardly any room for our plates and our drinks. Then I ordered the original French toast with fresh strawberries came with two strawberries no syrup I pretty much finished my whole meal before they even brought us syrup. Nothing too spectacular about it I could have made it in my kitchen in my house. Probably would have tasted better. I also asked for crispy bacon came out raw. They did remake it and it did come out better.My husband ordered the BLT that came with a fried green tomato on it no seasoning bland. "dog food"! The service was awful no one came to refill our drinks no one asked us however Mia was they left dirty dishes on our dinky small table so we had nowhere to put anything. L we started with a pinapple mimosa and Bloody Mary- both delicious and a side of candied bacon bites YUMMMM I ordered biscuits and gravy with over easy eggs. They were delicious. What a delightful spot on the edge of Market Square! We were quickly greeted and seated (by masked workers, FYI). Our server was super sweet and patient and we were checked on just the right amount. Hubby was so glad he ordered the side of sweet heat chicken, though, as it was the star of the breakfast show. -The Peacemaker=great for the indecisive (ME) and allows you to choose 2 of the 8 benedicts to mix-and-match. After viewing Yelp pics, I knew I needed Chicken St. Charles and then opted for the Corned Beef. The biscuits were halved and soft and buttery. The eggs perfectly poached. The Chicken St. Charles was absolutely my favorite, as the chicken is amazing and the tasso cream addicting. The only things we would have changed were the luke-warm temp of the benedicts and the biscuits and gravy. The chicken, eggs, and french toast bites were fresh and hot. I would not order the corned beef again, as it was incredibly salty and we couldn't finish it. And that's coming from a salt lover. ;-) Overall, we really enjoyed our experience. I've been here a half dozen times and this visit was by far, my best experience to date. If you're in a rush, this isn't the place for you, as this location for brunch will typically set you back a 30-45 min wait for a table and then another 20-30 min food wait once you put your order in. However, although this is a chain restaurant, the mimosas are quite nice, the staff is incredibly friendly and professional, the environment is inviting and relaxing, and the food is great. Although this visit I didn't get any apps, I've had most of them on the menu, and I would recommend any of them, so try away. If you're looking for a place local to Knoxville, this isn't the place, but if you want a good biscuit-based brunch spot, this is the place for you. read more

My family was visiting for Easter weekend and haven't been to Knoxville in awhile. My sister and I wanted to take them to brunch so we decided to try Ruby Sunshine. We looked up their Yelp page to see if they needed reservations since I had heard that their Saturday brunch time is very crowded. It had a link to their reservation page so we decided to be safe than sorry and put one in. There were going to be 9 people in our party and the reservation app stated that parties larger than 8 may be seated at separate tables and separate times. We really didn't want to have to do that, so we called first thing in the morning and spoke to someone at the restaurant. The man my sister spoke to was happy to accommodate us by putting in our reservation and said we would be able to be seated at the same time and at the same table, which was fantastic! When we arrived around 11, there was already a bit of a crowd waiting to be seated. We only had to wait about 10-15 minutes before we were taken upstairs to our table. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive to everything we needed. She also happily provided me with a menu that lists all their items and dietary/allergy labels. I have a gluten allergy so the gluten-free portion of the menu was such a big help! We began with drinks and some beignets. Three of us shared the mimosa flight which we all enjoyed the various flavor juices it came with. It was the perfect amounts to share between 2-3 people. While I couldn't eat the beignets, everyone else said they were very good! Once we ordered our entrees, they came out in decent timing and cooked how we ordered. Our waitress was very good especially since my order was a bit more complicated due to my food allergies and I needed to make several substitutions (egg whites instead of regular eggs and tomatoes instead of mushrooms). The waitress also asked if I wanted to keep the GF toast or trade it out for the potatoes or grits. I don't care for GF breads so I went with her suggestion of the potatoes and I'm glad I did--they were very good! We all had a wonderful meal and enjoyed our time at Ruby Sunshine. Everybody mentioned how delicious their food was. The prices aren't bad either for the amounts you get. Since our party was larger than 8, our gratuity was included in our bill so make sure to keep that in mind if you also come here with a larger group.
