Came here for the first time and it didn't disappoint. There were about 4 cars when we came at 11:30am and by 11:40 there were 25+ cars and all spots taken with line out the door. Solid 10/10 on the Grilled cheese panini with chicken - it's a 20/10 for me personally Solid 6/10 on the Tomato caprese baguette - if you add some kind of beef, chicken or turkey to it it'll be a 10/10 Overall very nice people, great service, no complaints! 5/5 stars! Cute little luncheon place. The sandwiches were good. We placed our order for 2 sandwiches and 2 cokes. Almost $40! Wow. The good thing is I saved the other half of my sandwich and loaded potato salad for dinner. Hard for me to justify spending $20 for lunch. There's room for about 30 patrons to sit and enjoy lunch. The problem is when people sit as a large group and have finished eating and are very loud and still talking! Please head out and make room for the next lunch eating crew! Stopped at this cafe on a friend recommendation on our way to Gatlinburg for a girls weekend. The restaurant is located down a paved hill from the Foothills Milling restaurant - two different restaurants. We parked at the top of the hill and walked down to a smallish cafe. You order at the counter when you walk in and there are tables to sit at in a space/room to the left. I ordered: Broccoli cheddar soup - large portion when you order the bowl. Decent recipe, had a bit of a tang to it and a thin consistency to the base. Pork Ba Mi - nice size sandwich and a side of mac salad (could have gotten a smaller soup side instead - I didn't realize). Mac salad was solid. I took the sandwich to our chalet because the soup was so big. Even eating it the next day, the sandwich was delicious! This should be a stop on anyone's to do list. Well, there's plenty of seating at Taco Bell right now, which should tell that person something. ... The food and desserts are excellent. And while the seating may be limited, plan for it ahead of time. What a beautiful gem in Knoxville. If you want a fancy yet comfortable delicious dinner date night, this is a great option. Looks like the building itself isn't open yet but looking forward to it opening! Meanwhile they do takeout for lunch 12-2p through their main restaurant and I have to say the sandwiches are pretty great! Ordering and paying online is super easy and they have curbside pickup designated parking spots. For lunch we got two sandwiches. They all come with coleslaw and a pickle. Muffuletta sandwich (4/5) pretty packed with meat (bologna, ham, Genoa salami and pepperoni) with an olive tapenade between rosemary focaccia. It was pretty good, although a bit on the salty side with all the preserved meats and olive tapenade. Short rib stuffed meatloaf sandwich (5/5) this was the favorite! The meatloaf was amazing when I had it at the restaurant and amazing pressed between the sweet sourdough bread. Super filling and you could probably even split it with another person. Sweet sourdough bread (5/5) sweet, fluffy, and so pillowy soft, the flavor is perfect. We got two loaves to save for a rainy day. Can't wait for the actual cafe to be finished cause I imagine the ambiance would be great. read more

I had no idea Foothills Milling Cafe had opened back up until I found myself in need of quick picnic lunch options during a visit to Maryville. While the permanent location is still under construction, you can order take-out from 11-2. The online ordering is simple, and you can call for curbside service or go in to the restaurant to pick up your order. The wait staff said the cafe building was supposed to open in May but they doubted it would be ready by then. In the meantime, the system they have works well. We ordered a Caesar salad, chicken noodle soup, the turkey basil sandwich, blackberry cobbler, buttermilk pie, and chewy molasses and chocolate meringue cookies (Yes, as a matter of fact we DID have trouble deciding on our desserts!). When we arrived to pick up, we were told the soup wasn't available and were offered several other options. My daughter picked the truffle mac and cheese, which turned out to be pretty close to mac and cheese perfection. I can't remember the last time a sandwich had just the right amounts of every ingredient, but the Turkey basil nailed it. It was the Italian-inspired sandwich of Joey Tribbiani's dreams. It came with mustard slaw, which was perfectly sauced and not too sweet, and a house-made dill pickle spear that would have been worth the trip just by itself. The sandwich could easily be a lunch for two unless you're really hungry. The Caesar salad was fresh and good but the only item that didn't bowl us over. The buttermilk pie and blackberry cobbler were equally impressive, each one a delightful blend of creamy and gooey with a pleasing crunch now and then. They were so yummy that we were saddened by our inability to finish even one dessert, let alone the cookies. Don't worry...we ate the cookies later and regretted that we hadn't bought more. So good! If you're in Maryville, Foothills Milling is a must stop, and if you're continuing on to the Smokies or even a local park, the cafe items travel well for picnicking. For not much more than you would pay at a fast food restaurant, you'll score a primo picnic lunch. read more

First time. I'll saw that most of my issues were with the experience and not the food. I really don't enjoy ordering at counter and having to decide if I should tip before experiencing the food and service. Hind sight recommendation: don't tip! You do everything yourself, from finding a table in small crowded room, cleaning table, picking up food, and bussing your table. Our cashier was new and that didn't help as she had to find and ask someone whenever we had a question. So despite all of that, I had brisket sandwich which was very plentiful. I would've been happy with just half of it. My only complaint was brisket was a lot more fatty than I prefer. I don't enjoy large amounts of soft fat, but some do. I also had the coleslaw as my side which was ok. Prefer more vinegar based to cut the fattiness of brisket. Also ordered a bowl of white chicken chili which was huge. I tried a few bites and it was delicious, but was a meal in itself. Gave it to my friend to take home as a leftover. She ordered a cup of the same chili and was satisfied. My recommendation if not alone, we would've been very happy with splitting sandwich and bowl or trying two different sides. Overall: I'll go back knowing now what to expect. I believe their food is worth that, just don't be prepared for a little chaos. Edit: went back again a few weeks later, couldn't find a parking spot, so didn't stay. They stay busy from 11-2.
