I went to the College Drive location in Suffolk, VA! We have been to this location many times because my husband loves the salad bar. We ordered to go this time 2 of the TEX MEX Steak Fajitas they have been advertising. When I got home with my order 1) the picture advertised and what I received didn't even come close to the same! 2) the black beans and rice were left out of both entrees completely! I normally check my order before I leave but the bag was tied so tight I didn't this time. I made numerous attempts to call the restaurant and the phone was never answered! I understand staffing is a problem in most restaurants currently so I made a 2nd trip back to the restaurant to pick up the omitted part of my order! The amount of the 2 sides I received was not worth the $4.59 per gal. of gas it cost to make that 2nd trip! My biggest regret was not taking a pic. of MY order to show a comparison to what was advertised for $12.99. Taco Bell would have been a better choice and much cheaper! read more

I went in on Friday Night and arrived at 7:00. Upon entering, I was greeted and seated in the bar area immediately. I was by myself. I sat and waited. 5 minutes later, I closed my menu. 3 servers and a manager walked by my table repeatedly, and after 15 more minutes of waiting and trying to get service, I walked out, gave my table to a couple (as well as a coupon I had since this was my last visit). No host at front. Food was served cold. I hate it when there's no sign about seating yourself and no person at the front. I finally went to the bar and sat there. The servers huddle in the back booth of the bar and chat. My food must have sat around a long time, because it was barely warm. They did microwave it back up to a nice hot temperature, but of course then the steak was no longer rare. I won't be back. read more

This has to be by far the worst Ruby Tuesday I've been to. We ordered salmon and a half a rack of ribs. The half a rack had 4 ribs on it and my salmon was roughly 2" by 2". It appeared that he gave me someone else's leftover cause the piece he gave me was rough cutted on one side. We questioned the waitress and she told us that she had already told the manager about the portion sizes before she served it to us. She called the manager over and he stated that those were the portions served to others. He was simply stubborn and was not interested in satusfying his customers. Not impressed! Sunday evening, not crowded at all. SLOW service considering only handful of customers. Waited at least 5-10 minutes for a host/hostess to seat us. I went to restroom thinking by time I was done, husband would at least be seated...Didn't happen. Saw 4 staff members sitting in back section near bathrooms talking/laughing. Waitress finally seated us and took our drink orders. 1 unsweetened tea and 1 water - another 10 minutes. Finally waitress came back and took our orders. We got our salads at salad bar and ate them. Had to wait another 25-30 minutes for our food. When we asked for extra napkins the waitress brought us paper towels like they had in the restroom - really?! (See picture) As we waited we noticed host finally appeared - unimpressed with him - he looked sloppy with his shirt hanging out while everyone else had theirs tucked in neatly. While waiting waitress came by and took my glass to refill with water rather than bring me fresh glass - gone another 10 minutes. I still had 1/2 glass of water I could still be drinking while she got a fresh glass for me. Common practice in most places like this would just be bring a fresh glass to table...she brought husband fresh glass of tea one time and another time she took his glass and refilled it. The only think quick was how fast she brought us our check. Then when I provided a coupon it took another 5 minutes to get updated bill. Just didn't seem like there was a lot of interest in the customers. Noticed other customers near us checking watches and looking for waitress as well. Overall not a good experience read more

Meth much? Our waitress was so whacked out I was worried she was going to OD at our table. Slamming glasses on the table after barely making it without spilling. Disappearing for 25-35 minutes and coming back all sweaty and hyper. Service terrible. Food marginal. All the clients at the bar were totally wasted as well. Arrived at 7:30pm after driving for the past 10 hours. Our party of three waited for over 10 minutes at the hostess stand waiting to be acknowledged. The party of two ahead of us was offered a booth in the bar section but the declined and asked for a table which they were taken to without issue. 5 minutes later the host had not returned but was instead standing at the bar talking to the bartender. The manager on duty (Jessica) finally came to the hostess stand and asked how many. I tell her two adults and one child. She tells me it will be at least a 15-20 minute wait. I ask about the 4 empty booths in the bar section and she replies by telling me that there is a party of 20 waiting for a table and if they seat too many people at once that the kitchen will crash. I told her I arrived as they quoted the party of 10 an 8:00pm table time and asked if I was expected to wait until after they were seated and served before my family of 3 could get a booth in another section of the restaurant and she told me again that if she seated too many customers at once that the kitchen would crash. I told her we would go somewhere else that actually wants to provide decent service to customers and she didn't say a word. We walked to the car and I decided I would go back and get her name. I walked back in and asked for her name, she responded that it is Jessica. I told her I wanted it to include in my review and my complaint to her regional. She told me I obviously don't have any understand of the restaurant business and she was trying to explain the wait. I informed her that my understanding of business management is vast and told her that the next section up was the bar section but the people ahead of us declined that section and were taken to another section. Due to that a server got skipped in rotation and I was asking to go to that section, a section the part of ten couldn't possibly be seated in when their 30 minute wait time is up. She rolled her eyes and looked away from me before acting like I wasn't there. We went to the Applebee's up the street and had a much better meal. The service and food were great and they were very personable and professional there. I suggest you bypass Ruby Tuesdays and head across the bridge to Applebee's!!! read more

If I could give this zero stars I would. My group and I waited over 15 minutes just to get our drinks and to get water refills. We all waited over one hour before receiving our food. When they came out with our food I was told that they had no pasta left over so they were unable to make my meal which was mainly pasta. I was very hungry after waiting for ONE HOUR! It's 8:30 p.m. on a Thursday night and I thought I'd order some takeout to take back to my hotel room at the Windgate after a long 4 hour drive. By staying there I could see their parking lot and it was clearly not busy. I called and when they answered they put me on hold for 5+ minutes. I figured there was no reason for that considering the circumstances so I hung up. I tried again, hopeful that maybe it was just a mistake that I was forgotten about (even still that is still unacceptable). When I talked to someone the second time I told them how I had been put on hold for all that time during the first call and they said "ok...." and put me on hold again. For some reason I decided to wait again and they still didn't answer after another 5 mins! I hung up for a second time and decided that was enough. read more

At Ruby Tuesday's now. 50% of the Restaurant is empty because their policy is they can only allow 5 tables per server. Half of the staff called in sick for Halloween night. On a 40+ minute wait! I got the Chicken Fresca and my boyfriend got the Asiago Streak-- both arrived piping hot. Mine was the perfect tenderness and the mac and cheese was DELICIOUS, his steak was a little small but he liked the zucchini. We've always wanted to try Ruby Tuesday, but this was the wrong one to try! The server was pleasant but didn't know the answer to our questions about the menu (but she might have been new). My husband and I ordered burgers and we were told they each came with two sides, so we chose our sides. A few minutes later the server came out and said that we only get one side and that two sides with the meal were only available after 3 p.m. I joked that at least it was cheaper and she said it was the same price. After she left the table I looked at my watch and it was 2:55 p.m. Can they really not make an exception of 5 minutes, especially when our food didn't come until about 30 minutes after we ordered? My son ordered the kids' Cajun Fried Shrimp. It came out about 10 minutes before the rest of the food and the shrimp was overcooked (almost burnt). My son asked for tartar sauce and it took another 10 minutes since the kitchen staff had to "make" some. It was gross! We didn't use it. My husband's Smokehouse Burger, ordered to be cooked "medium,"came out well done. The "onion rings" that were supposed to be on the burger was one tiny onion ring that was about 1" in diameter. It looked like a joke (remember those "where's the beef" commercials?...it felt like "where's the onion ring"). The mashed potatoes, while they tasted good, looked old. He had also ordered no pickles and he got pickles. My Triple Prime BACON Cheddar Burger also came without any bacon and it took me several minutes until the server returned to be able to send it back. I think the worst thing about the amount of time it took to get our food, was that there were only about 3-4 other parties in the whole restaurant. What are all of those employees doing back in the kitchen? From the slow delivery of our food, to the tiny onion ring that came on the open-faced burger on the plate, everything we experienced said to us, "we really don't care if you have good food or a good experience at our restaurant." Mixed feelings. Food was okay...service was another story. Large party of about 12. Took 30 minutes to get our drink order and waites a bit for that to come. They must have been short staffed cause they waited to fill the salad bar til the last minute when of course we wanted to go up. The restocker told us how he was just washing dishes...not the picture I wanted as I was picking up my salad fixings...even if he did have gloves/washed hands...not something we needed to know. First off there was a wait,plenty of seats that were empty.Plenty of people waiting,tables were clean and waiting for diners.I asked about the empty seats and hosted stated that the problem is there wasn't enough silverware that was ready,i.e.: nothing that was clean.This tells me either that they don't have enough place settings for the restaurant or someone is not doing the job of doing the dishes.Someone needs to get on the top of this.30 minutes wait and at least 5 tables vacant,and 6 bar stools available.This is why businesses lose good business.I would suggest that they fix this problem.There are not many places to eat with near here to begin with.kinda off the beaten path read more

For a chain restaurant, it was a very good for two dinners during our recent stay in the area. We went off hours (our mothers are older and we have found this is always a good approach) so it was not hectic or rushed as often is the case later in the evening. The newer menus had more options for those with diet limitations and the service was excellent. They have toned down the noise levels so that you can now sit and converse without being drowned out by music. read more

My boyfriend and I frequently eat at Ruby Tuesdays in Lexington. The food is great as well as the service. As for these other reviews, The restaurant is not out dated and if you have to be put on a wait, there is a reason for that! Everyone has a bad experience in a restaurant, but to tell people not to waste their time trying Ruby Tuesday is ridiculous! The salad bar is very fresh with a lot of variety, and its a clean, relaxing environment. The Chicken tenders are hand breaded, and I promise you they have Tyson beat :) Keep up the good work Ruby Tuesday!! read more

We went in to eat and it easily took 40-50 minutes for them to start bringing our food our and by the time they brought me my meal everyone else was basically done eating. They got my fathers burger wrong and he just asked for it to be taken off the check but instead they brought out another burger that was also wrong. Recently two of my friends treated me to a birthday lunch. The hostess seated us promptly and we told her we were waiting for another guest. The waitress suggested we get our drink orders while we were waiting. I ordered a cup of hot tea and my friend just asked for water. My tea arrived. I was surprised to see an ice tea spoon lying across the saucer. It was awkward stirring the tea without splashing. My other friend arrived fifteen minutes later. The waitress took our orders. The manager stopped at the table and introduced herself to us. When the food arrived it was a just warm and the mashed potatoes were soupy. My friend ordered a well done steak. Her tiny steak oozes blood when she sliced a piece. She tried to eat the slice but could not put it into her mouth. We got the waitress and told her what the problem was. She grabbed a plate from the salad bar, scraped the steak onto it leaving the slice on the plate with the vegetables. Manners called for my other friend and I to wait until we all had our full orders. We waited 15 minutes for the steak to make it back to the table. When my friend sliced a think piece, it was apparent that the steak was not reheated. Once again the waitress got a plate from the salad bar and took the remaining whole piece of steak back to the kitchen. Because I had an appointment and could not wait much longer to eat and my friends decided to eat their food before it got any colder. The poor steak was sent back twice. By now, the steak was about 1 1/2 inches big. Since we had finished our meals, when the waitress briought the steak to the table for the third time,she asked if the customer wanted a box to take her 1 1/2 inch steak home. In short, my complaints: 1. While we were waiting, we observed how dirty the woodwork was and how dingy the restaurant and atmosphere is. 2. Who trains the servers? They should teach them the correct utensils that go with beverages. ie. the difference between a teaspoon and an Ice tea spoon. 3. The waitress should have taken the whole plate back to the kitchen to keep the vegetables warm while the steak was grilled again. 4. I was not asked if I wanted a refill of my tea, when the others were offered more water. 5. Most importantly my friend should have had her meal comped!!!! 6. This took 2 hours This is not the first negative experience I had had at THIS Ruby Tuesday, but it is the last! I have asked a number of friends in the women's club and they had similar experience. Most related to the cleanliness and unappetizing food. I don't think this place has been renovated since it opened. read more

We wrote off this restaurant ( Lexington, Va) years ago because of terrible service and filthy dining room. We were in the area a few weeks ago and based on good experience with other Ruby Tuesday restaurants,we decided to give them another try to see if management had improved. We were there for early lunch so it wasn't crowded. We were seated immediately and had a sweet waitress but that's only reason I even gave this one star. The salad bar had several common items that looked way past their throw away dates and the dining room was still filthy. The only thing that was clean was the table itself and ironically the floor. An inch of dust on lampshades and blinds, what looked like years of grimy handprints on backs of chairs ( they were black!) Made me wonder about safety of the kitchen when the dining room was that dirty. Don't even want to think about the state of the bathrooms-- I couldn't even look. Lost my appetite after seeing this. Meal itself was ok but wondered if I was going to get sick from eating there. Look folks, not sure why this restaurant can't seem to get it together and CLEAN! Been to lots of Ruby Tuesday restaurants and this is THE worst. Will not be going back to this location. Ever. If I owned Ruby Tuesday's, I would shut this one down. read more

This may be our last visit to this restaurant. We keep thinking it will improve, it only gets worse. Our 10 minute wait turned into 30 (we should have left right then) with the hostess oblivious to how long we had been there. The salad bar had only spinach and mixed greens, with black slimy stuff on it, no Romaine, no Iceberg. The bar was messy and short on toppings. My husband ordered soup, and he sat and watched me eat all of my salad with no soup. He had to flag down the waitress for it and her reply was "I put it all in at once so it would all come out at once" (?) He shouldn't have bothered, the soup tasted like watered down spaghetti sauce. We live near this place and years ago it was well managed and so much better. This is not the first bad experience here, there was actually a far worse episode, (2 hours for a meal) and we stayed away for almost a year. The moral is even if you have a BOGO coupon where you get one meal free, it is NOT worth it. read more
