Went there about a week and a half ago and was absolutely blown away at how bad things had gotten. First, we arrived and we immediately told that the grill wasn't working so all we could get was fried food or the salad bar. All we both wanted was the salad bar, so we decided that this didn't matter. We did however watch at least 10 other parties walk back out. After we were seated, we went to the salad bar and noticed that they were out of just about everything. The salad dressings were all empty so when I got back to the table and asked our server for ranch dressing and quickly brought out two plastic containers with dressing. The temperature in the restaurant was very cold, to the point where the people at the table next to us commented that they felt like we were camping and that we should huddle up and build a campfire. When they commented to the server how cold it was, the reply they received was "yeah, I don't know why it's like that". Not I'll turn up the thermostat, just I don't know why it's like that. When we went back up to the salad bar, still nothing had been refilled, but this time I had to go to the bar to ask for dressing. The servers were all huddled at the bar (probably for warmth!). Needless to say, a one star rating was generous based on this visit. Between the heat issue, the grill not working and the fact that they seemed to be out of everything at the salad bar, they would have been much better off closing for the day. The food was awful. I had burnt ends and grandson had burnt ends with 6 oz ribeye. The burnt end app had chunks of meat the size of a pencil tip, hard and tossed in bbq sauce with pickles on top and red onion. I could hardly chew the food. My grandsons meal was larger tough burnt ends, and the thinnest ribeye I've ever seen, it looked boiled and was cooked fully. I don't know why they even ask how he wanted it cooked. It looked like sandwich steak. It was rubbery and dry. I had a strawberry margarita and grandson had a Shirley temple. I had the salad bar which looked like a few bus tours had been there before us. It was a mess. The good food was the French fries, I ate the salad bar and the drinks. The waitress very sweet and apologetic. When you go in, this once neat restaurant was disheveled looking. The upper blinds were distracting as they were messy looking and unkept. The manager came out when I complained about the food quality and said basically that's how they get it. He asked me to please give them another try and I declined. Won't be back. They did give grandson a dessert and took some food off the bill but with tip it was still over 40$ for that disaster of a meal. Sorry, but I'm sure the owner of this franchise would want to know. What a shame, the potential is here but the food was not good. The manager said if I come back to tell the waitress we got a bad meal and then they'd make sure we got really good food. If you want warm food or food in a timely manner DON'T COME HERE! Waited about 30 minutes for drinks. Waited about a hour for my appetizer, the sampler, it was cold. Waited another hour for our food. I ordered a simple smash burger on a toasted bun... it was not toasted. It did taste good but definitely not worth the wait. Watched multiple other groups come and go while I waited. My wait staff was hit or miss in when we would see them. Other staff looked irritated waiting on the kitchen staff to get food out. Went to use the restroom and it was in shambles. Only one stall worked and it looked like people had been using everything but it to pee in/on. The restaurant needs a remodel and better trained staff! This location used to be noted for its decent burgers and nice salad bar. The steaks were ok too. But the last two times, it has not been great. The portions have been meager. It's glaring when your food only takes up half your plate. The amount of tots or fries with a sandwich is not what it used to be. The salad bar, the one saving grace of the place, has had some questionable lettuce in it. I had to pick through the spring greens because of pieces that were old and turned. The worst lunch ever! I am visiting the area and went with family here. I ordered a med rare burger and it came out well done. The meat did not look like burger, kinda looked grey, dry, tasteless. I suspect it was pre-cooked or leftover and warmed up. The bun was so dry it was falling apart when burger was picked up. Horrible! Others at our table had the same thing. Couldn't even finish it. I like Ruby Tuesdays for its tasteful cuisine. However, as in some cases, there is always room for improvement. First, I would like to see better hygiene among the cooks behind the counter. The ones I observed had beards (one of which was long), which I don't think should be permitted. Additionally, I think the music in the vestibule is much too loud. Why do these types of establishments have to blast everyone into oblivion? Finally, I would like the restaurant to offer pretzels, peanuts or other snacks at their bar, particularly for those patrons, like myself, who carry out and would like to nosh on something while waiting. My experience with the Oswego,NY location has generally been good, however, I do have one issue. I really wish the music in the entryway vestibule wasn't so loud. I feel this is unnecessary, plays to the younger crowd, and adds stress when one us already hungry. This is a problem with many establishments nowadays. Too much forced stimulation on the public. I travel here from Chicago a few times a year and this is the only option next to the holiday inn. While the food is good, I think they are suffering from too few cooks in the kitchen. While I was there on a Saturday night around 7, the staff were all so happy and polite. They all seemed to be having a great time together all while providing excellent service. It's nice to walk in and just feel such a good vibe. The manager was around the whole time, helping out her team members in any way she could. I'm reviewing this place because nobody seems to use Yelp in Oswego and all the reviews are either years old or unreasonable imho. That said, I can't speak to whether the service is inconsistent or not as other reviewers have said, all I know is we had impeccable service delivered by "Brian" and we left feeling well attended to. The food was good, and since it was during a school break it wasn't busy at this location. Gets 3 stars because it's one of the only sit-down restaurants with mid-level prices in town; would probably be 2 stars if there was more to choose from. The food is what you'd expect from a national chain - nothing special, but it's usually good enough. I'm partial to the raspberry lemonade, avocado quesadilla, and New York cheesecake with blackberry sauce. My meat-eating dining companions say the steak is usually decent as well. My husband and I frequent this restaurant. Went there June 25 for a birthday celebration. Surprised to find out that biscuits are no longer served while waiting for your meal. My father and I are regulars, averaging 2 to 4 times a month, in addition to larger dinner parties with friends. We cannot express how wonderful we find the Oswego store. The servers, bartenders, kitchen staff, management - everyone is incredibly friendly, personably and very knowledgeable about the food menu and the bar menu. The restaurant is clean, food very hot, and always cooked to our orders/requests. Bar service is always spot on, with bartenders knowing what we like without us even having to ask. We often yield to recommendations of staff for our dinners and the staff has never failed us. Not once have we had a bad meal, or a bad experience. Even when the store is packed and the kitchen is slammed, food is consistently delicious, and service is great. Great team in the Oswego store!
