I was here for a Class of 1980 reunion reception, so maybe you could say that with a room of folks in their mid to upper 60s, this place was hopping? This was primarily a drink-only event, and I thought that the service was very good considering the "demands" of our crowd. There wasn't much on the inside TVs to watch, so we did do a good job actually talking to each other and staying off our screens. All in all, it was a good venue for what turned out to be a great reunion weekend.

The entrance is really on Bryan Avenue (not 26th St), and when you walk in, it's a little hard to know where to go. Walk all the way up the stairs and in the door, yes even though it doesn't seem right you ARE in the right place. The moment you open the door, it's like you step into another world. This is a very eclectic theater experience that makes for the perfect experience. I saw "Othello" there on Friday night and was pleasantly surprised. It's an intimate theater experience with a great vibe and great cast. You can tell that a lot of love and care is put into everything they do. During intermission, take a break and grab a drink (donations only) and take a seat on one of the many couches, grab a book and enjoy good company. This is a MUST visit for an intimate theatrical experience :)

Seeing the usher at the front always makes me smile. I remember when my friends used to work here and they'd tell me all about how it was a lot of waiting. Being greeted by a teenager is refreshing and takes me way back. Ticket prices remain COMPETITIVE! I got the movie pass and bought tickets for 5 movies for several folks for just over $100. It was humungous hosting over a thousand tables. My kids and I love coming here because there are so many great deals and different varieties to include knives, accessories, etc. There was a small concession inside the building and a food truck outside. There are ATMs and restrooms conveniently located throughout the building. If you're looking for a firearm, this specific event will most likely have it. They come to the BCS a few times a year. I believe they're returning in October so don't miss out. They also do raffles to win prizes and a rifle.

I want to give a full-throated endorsement of this business, especially as a Downtown Bryan…read moreresident, yet I have serious reservations. 1.) This historic venue deserves better historic interior decor. I recognize the current owners didn't make the renovations to the space, but as a single screen venue...it should feel special, distinct and one-of-a-kind experience from front door to lobby to theatre. It doesn't. 2.) The online website and programming of what's on screen is not extra special. First run films are better left to the cineplexes. This space would suit a well-curated art house, classic cinema, and rarely seen films for a large swath of audiences in the Brazos Valley. I live right around the corner and the 50th Anniversary screening of Bruce Lee's Enter the Dragon was the first film since their launch (in current iteration)...it was fun to experience on a large screen. 3.) What is unclear from the online presence is that food can be served to your seat. I looked extensively in the sight but this was not evident to me until we arrived. The menu is very pedestrian, burgers, greasy fries and more fried things, and standard salads. Again, nothing special or unique. 4.). Why are tickets for future screenings unavailable since they are already advertised? Also, there was a lot of noise in the lobby during the film and the house lights did not come up after the film concluded. I WANT to support a local one-screen experience Downtown, but how I miss the reopening days of this place when it was diversely curated and a human being sat in the ticket booth to welcome you into the Experience of The Queen.
