Had to make a post about this because I genuinely had such a great experience…read more Long story short, my wisdom teeth have been growing in and the pain got progressively worse, but today it became absolutely unbearable. I ended up having to schedule a last-minute emergency procedure to get them removed because I just couldn't take the pain anymore. Not only did California Oral Surgery & Dental Implant Center get me in on such short notice, but the entire team was incredible. This was my first surgery ever, and even though it was a relatively minor procedure, I was honestly pretty nervous. Everyone was so kind, patient, and reassuring, and they made the whole experience feel so seamless. Thank you to the doctors and staff for taking such great care of me and making me feel comfortable every step of the way. I truly appreciate it more than you know. First off, let me say that two dentists have tried to numb my mouth. When the numbness would wear…read moreoff SECONDS after the shot, one dentist gave me shots all over my mouth, including the roof of my mouth and my tongue. Nothing worked. We even tried the next day with clear instructions not to drink coffee or tea. Still, nothing worked. I was told that the last time that happened, the patient had been a drug addict. Suffice to say, I don't do drugs, except for Ventolin and Symbicort for my asthma, and I'll drink wine at the most just a handful of times a year (pre-Covid). The second dentist, who was a tiny Asian woman and who has since passed away, actually used the armrest to add more pressure to get the needle in deep. I felt my nerve (wriggle). Not surprisingly, It took me three years to see my dentist again after those experiences. Not too long ago, I was told my my dentist that I needed work done on two teeth that was treated about three years ago. The onlay on my #18 had come off and there was now a slight crack in the tooth. My number #9 tooth had a secondary cavity. What?! It cost me close to $2000 out of pocket for the treatment and an anesthesiologist. My dentist, knowing how difficult it is for me to get numbed, recommended Dr. Mokbel. When Dr. Mokbel and Danielle tried to reassure me that I would get numbed, I was quite skeptical. I just wanted to pay the extra cost for an anesthesiologist. Let me sleep and wake up with everything done. But okay, why not give it a try. I mean the guy teaches classes at USC and have taken students to poor countries to help the less fortunate. Danielle had it okayed to prescribe Xanax, which I took before arriving to the office. One pill didn't work, so I took another one. She also suggested playing music, which I did. My first visit to fix my #9 went great. I was told I snored a couple of times (I usually snore when getting a massage) and my tooth looks so much better. I can now smile in the morning without getting grossed out at my reflection. I just left the office. This was my second visit for my #18. It was harder to numb me this time. But Dr. Mokbel kept at it. I had complete faith in him and had hoped he wouldn't give up. Man, I was telling my mind to just relax, but something in me resists the idea of being poked and prodded and I hate the idea of of being medicated. After what felt like 45 minutes, I was told that I was done. What?! The procedure was much quicker than my first visit. You can't believe how stressed I've been. I'm not a pansy. I've been punched in my face and kicked in my stomach numerous times by my ex, so the dentist shouldn't be nothing, but it is to me. Dentists and doctors are scary people who invade very private places. Like I said, I absolutely HATE going to the dentist and doctor. But if I ever had to do something like this again, and I hope I die before I do, Dr. Mokbel and his amazing staff would be my first choice.

From the time I arrived through the completion of the crown attached was the most pleasant and comfortable experience ever!!. Dr. Bassir is AMAZING!! He is conservative, professional, pleasant, and very kind. He explained everything. He treated my fears as normal and ensured the entire experience went well and at the speed I could handle. I never felt rushed or ignored. Manny and Juan are the best techs. They remember all my preferences each visit. The front office, with Stacy and Karen, are efficient and kind. I have also recently had a fantastic cleaning that will get me to come back all smiles next time!! This ended up being the best and most comfortable root canal and cleaning and if another is needed (or any other dental needs), this is the ONLY place to go. TERRIBLE!!! Dr. Mark Yamamoto did tremendous health damage to me as he irreversibly grinded all my…read moremolars and premolars from all sides, narrowed them by shaving them from all sides, from natural square shapes into oval closed shapes. He lowered my bite by 2-4 mm of height of my tooth structure, he destroyed my biting cusps and made deep holes in biting surface, he made my teeth craters. I cannot chew well due to missing teeth contact, limited range of motion to sides due to narrowed teeth and too "closed" bite. Biting down hurts me as it means "bone to bone" of condyles against fossas."Dr." Yamamoto triggered my temporomandibular jaw joints disorder that he claimed I did not have before as I had no pain in jaw joint area when I came to his office. Since his grinding I suffer from terrible toothache and jaws pain every day, facial and neck muscles pain, back pain, body imbalance and mainly from terrible headaches every day from early morning what I had never before. My face is swollen, my jaws are like on fire. He also triggered neurological tingling in my entire body preventing me from sleep. After his occlusal grinding I am still now on opioid drugs and strong doses of pregabalin, even now 4 months later, as no conventional medicine can help me. Nobody will be able to return my teeth to my original state and I have lifetime of chronic pain ahead of me. After Yamamoto`s procedure I also cannot turn my head to sides fully. Bowing head forward results in my jaw joints pain. Newly I got spasms also on temporal and other head and neck muscles. I cannot turn to sides in bed due to jaw joints pain so my sleep is very poor and I feel very fatigued every day. As a result I am incapable of doing even housework and my family has to take care of me 24/7. MRIs of TMJ taken after Yamamoto`s devastating occlusal changes showed inflammation in jaws and further dislocation of my jaw discs forward as Yamamoto forcibly dragged my lower jaw too forward, "out of my hinges", against my surgeon recommendation. He is an obsessed teeth grinder and he is incapable of undoing his damage because he is unable to perform precise composite bonding. Yamamoto focused in praising himself and he did not want to listen to patient at all. He repeatedly yelled at me "Be quiet! I am the expert!" when I tried to explain my medical history which did not interest him at all. He called my warnings "foolish". He got so upset after his yelling that he run out to calm down. He has a psychopathic behavior, stay away from him! He only wanted to satisfy himself and obtain data for his presentation at conferences even though he made damage to the patient. "Dr." Yamamoto refused to accept the responsibility and told me to never come back for his more adjustments to finish his treatment plan. Dr. Yamamoto designed a treatment plan but refused to give me a copy so I did not have a chance to study it as he quickly flipped through the power point presentation slides. He was hiding the details on purpose and got annoyed when I wanted to know what he was planning to do as I did not understand it, nor the risks as he did not explain them. My husband and I were fooled by this "occlusal expert", he cheated us. He never revealed he would grind down all the teeth from sides, not only on biting surface which caused irreversible tooth structure damage. He is totally irresponsible and dangerous for the patients. His dental license should be taken away from him. The occlusal department at USC dental school was closed while he was teaching there. But he is still making harm in his private practice. He is going to misuse my medical data including photos of my body posture in dental conference presentations (like the AES conference in Chicago) where he praises himself but his patient data is manipulated into a one big lie. Without his dental license that grants him immunity, he would be criminally prosecuted for health damage which he has done to hundreds of patients before. Yamamoto broke HIPAA laws, the right to get own medical records by a patient (e.g. power point presentation with images, 2 pairs of teeth casts, body photos). Since he did not give me details of his grinding treatment plan it is impossible to find help to undo his damage. Moreover, Dr. Yamamoto phone called my local dentist who then cancelled my appointment so I could not get help.
