I never write reviews but I was compelled by the absolutely unbelievable job Gary and his team did for my loft. Before I get into the details let me say this, and I can't believe I am saying this, but these curtains have completely changed my life for the better. You don't realize what a good window covering is until you have them. My home is so much more calm and elegant after Gary and his team did their magic. I have owned my loft for 21 years. When I first purchased it in my 20s, I had no money and certainly no money to have 70 feet of 13 foot curtains professionally installed. My place faces southeast and the morning light was like standing on the face of the sun. At the time, I called Gary (and other places) and he was the only one willing to work with me on price. I had NO money and Gary was so kind a reasonable and put up something that was gorgeous and affordable. 20 years later, I felt it was time to upgrade to something that better suited the loft. Again I called a number of providers and not only were the prices outrageous but they all wanted to do a simple, cheap solution. I called Gary and he described a thoughtful, custom solution that would black out my loft during the day. When I chose Gary and his team, I was absolutely blown away by the level of detail. He and his colleague scheduled a day just to document and create a template for every nook and cranny in the ceiling of the 100 year old concrete building. NO ONE ELSE OFFERED THIS but Gary. He was able to create a custom valance that followed the unique lines of each window so the light is completely eliminated. It makes such a difference. Install took two days but it showed my how difficult a job this was. They really treated what they do as an art. I think most of all Gary and his time are just really nice people. I almost never write reviews but Gary and Rudolph's did such an amazing job that I wanted to get the word out. This is a great family business. I had all new drapes and blinds installed. They were replacing old curtains that had been up for decades. I've never had blinds before so it was a learning experience for me. Gary was very patient with me & really helped me understand. My initial choices of blinds was made before my windows were installed. Gary did tell me that he'd have to come back and measure the new windows as they would be slightly different size. Gary's deep knowledge of window treatments, great customer service, and reasonable prices is a winning combination. I needed window treatments after completing my home remodel. The home had multiple arched windows and I was initially considering blinds. However, for some blind brands the installation options covered the arch altogether which defeated the purpose of having the arch and I wasn't entirely satisfied with the look of other brands which allowed the shape of the arch to remain visible. During his in-home consultation, Gary offered many of the blind brands that other blind retailers provided. However, after discussing blind options Gary asked if I had considered curtains. I was at first resistant to the idea but Gary recommended I visit his shop for further discussion of both blind and curtain options and to view product samples. At his shop, Gary was able to show me working curtain models and make me feel more comfortable with the idea of curtains. I was concerned that curtains might make the home look dated but Gary had a wide range of fabrics to choose from and he generously ended up meeting with me several times at his shop to discuss the options for the window treatments. We settled on curtains for the arched windows which preserved the look of the arch to my satisfaction and blinds for the non-arched windows. Throughout the process, I got to know Gary on both a professional and personal level and greatly appreciated his collaborative design efforts from both an aesthetic and functional standpoint. Gary employs an amazing seamstress who was able to make me custom curtains with ties and as an added bonus pillows for my living room furniture. When Gary and his worker came to install the curtains and blinds I appreciated the level of attention and care they took to make sure everything worked as it should and looked great. They painstakingly steam treated the curtains after hanging to remove unwanted creases. When one of the wands for the blinds turned out to be damaged, Gary replaced it with one from his shop without having to go through the blind manufacturer. I am grateful to have found Gary with his considerable expertise and ability to work with my budget. He puts the customer first and is not limited to blinds as are many window treatment retailers. Our aluminum blinds on 3 windows had worn out and I started searching for a company to replace them. Our windows are in a house that is 65 years old so standard sizes would not work; we needed a service provider who could get custom sizes and install them. Gary was a great communicator, totally reliable. He came to my house and provided good in-person customer service. He measured for our new custom blinds himself. I've now used Rudolph's Interiors 2 times. By the way, this is their new address in San Mateo. The first time I used them they were in Daly City, where I live. They're a fairly unique business in that I don't know anyone else who does what they do, or at least, did for me. The first time I turned to them to clean Hunter Douglas blinds I have. I think they're called Duet shades. They have two thin sheets separated by a small gap and they raise up in to a hard shell at the top of the window. Well, in Daly City there's a lot of humidity. This dampness around windows caused mold to grow on the blinds. They were pretty expensive so I wanted them cleaned. I turned to Rudolph's to do the job. They came when they said they would and uninstalled the blinds and took them to their shop. About 10 days later they returned with the blinds totally clean and reinstalled them. We were very happy with this job. Recently we were dismayed to find mold growing under the seat cushion on an ultrasuede chair that sits in our living room near the sliding glass door. Dampness strikes again! As before Rudolph's came and picked up the chair when they said they would (a 1-hour window by the way, which is rare). About 10 days later we got back a totally cleaned up chair. They even threw in refreshing the back cushion, which our kids had smashed up pretty good. That was really nice and unexpected. When we're ready for a refresh on our couch we'll be turning to Rudolph's again. They're friendly, fairly priced and get the job done as promised. I like that. I needed new window coverings that would protect my paintings and other artwork from the sun, which streams in through south facing windows and skylights and yet allow me some view outwards. Gary Rudolph came to my house to survey my requirements. He explained the various technologies for UV protection and showed me several samples that he thought would fit the bill. These included different fabrics, color schemes, and degrees of opaqueness. We also discussed different mechanisms - draw strings vs. chain and gear. Finally, he consulted on whether to motorize the skylight coverings, they being 15 or more feet above the floor. Gary and his assistant worked quickly and efficiently to install the coverings. The skylights presented particular challenges because one was directly above a stairwell and he and Bill needed to jury-rig a sort-of scaffold to get at it. Also, they required several adjustments to make sure that they operated smoothly, and Gary made two extra visits before he was completely satisfied. I was very grateful for this; I feel that less conscientious contractors might have left me hanging (so to speak) with the problem. Nothing is inexpensive any more, but Gary's prices are very reasonable for the quality of his work and attention to every little detail, from initial consultation until final sign-off. He even called back a month or two later to make sure I was satisfied. These guys are great! I called at least 5 different shade companies and could only find companies who installed motorized shades, but didn't repair. It was a bit frustrating until Gary answered at Rudolph's. He said I called the right place and assured me that they would do all they could to help. What a relief! This company's products are top-notch, and their installation services are awesome! We love their custom thermal blinds, and had some installed many years ago. Recently we had to have them taken down in order to replace ourwindows, and when it was time to re-install the blinds, the installer realized that the window frame size had slightly changed.
