DELICIOUS FOOD!! GREAT PRICES!!! Our waiter was so knowledgeable of the menu and so kind. The Vegetable Samosa and Vegetable Bhajis (pictured) were 11/10. Great portions to share as well. MUST GO!!

    This is their Veg Thali.

This is one of those underappreciated somewhat unknown place in a resendential neighborhood that only people living there would be aware of. It is a small family owned restaurant and has been affected by Covid-19. I've been here only twice but the food has never disappointed. They have crispy dosas and their idlis are like fluffy white clouds of deliciousness. I have also tried their Thali which is a full meal consisting of roti (bread) which is freshly made and soft, rice and a assortment of 2 sabjis, rasam, sambar, raita , a sweet which was gulab jamun and pickles (achar).

Every single dish is crafted with so much care, flavor, and passion that it becomes impossible not to come back again and again. The taste is something I honestly cannot even begin to describe--you just have to experience it. Sato, the owner, is one of the kindest and most genuine people I have ever met. He goes above and beyond for every single customer, and it shows in everything he does. You can feel his passion for cooking in every bite. He is always smiling, always welcoming, and truly puts his heart into his food. The dish in the photo is called "Aja's Special," and it says everything you need to know. My husband couldn't even wait for me to take the picture--his fork was already going in for a taste. That's how irresistible it is. This is not just a restaurant--it's an experience. A warm, welcoming place where incredible food meets an incredible person behind it. Just a warning: you will get addicted. Without a doubt, this is one of the best restaurants in New Jersey.

The noodles were also good, and was a very generous portion. The owner was super nice and walked us through the menu since none of us had really had Burmese food before. I would definitely come back here the next time we're going to Gundam Planet.

They also have beautiful garden seating. I ordered Turkish coffee, fresh grapefruit juice, Gurmanski dorucak, mini burek with spinach and cheese, and fruit cake. I love Turkish coffee and this was very good. The juice was tart and delicious. The breakfast platter was a showstopper. Two fried eggs, tomato, feta, two meat patties, and homemade bread. The flavors of the meat blew my mind. Who knew that Croatians make the most delicious burgers. This is a hearty and fantastic dish. Also, the burek was flaky and light and not very mini. I took home the cake and enjoyed it later. Light, delicate and not overly sweet, this was a star. Open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, you should stop in for any meal. Seating is first-come, first-served, and guests are placed based on availability, which keeps things fair and efficient even during busy times. The tables for two are intimate and cozy, perfect for conversation, though they can become a bit tight when ordering several dishes at once. That said, the staff was attentive and checked in often enough to clear plates and make room, which made the experience much more comfortable. The dessert menu is separate, allowing guests to enjoy their meal at an unhurried pace before deciding on something sweet. Their beverage offerings are thoughtfully presented. Herbal tea options include green tea, chamomile, and English tea (Stash), and the tea is served in a container that provides two full servings. The cappuccino is well made and served with a sugar crystal stick, adding a distinct old-world charm that enhances the café's European feel. I regret not asking for an additional order of Turkish coffee so that's a regret . What we ordered: * Greek Salad - $18.50 * Cappuccino - $6.80 * Herbal Tea - $6.00 * Uštipci - $17.25 * Musaka - $22.95 * Šnicla (Cutlet Sandwich) - $20.75 * 2 Diet Cokes - $8.00 The musaka is a baked dish and does take about 25 minutes to prepare, as it's made fresh with baked eggs, seasoned beef, and sliced potatoes layered on top. The wait is well worth it, resulting in a hearty, comforting dish that tastes authentically homemade. The Šnicla (cutlet sandwich) arrived beautifully presented on a wooden board, adding a rustic, elevated touch that matched the restaurant's aesthetic. Mom felt it lacked in seasoning but she Didnt leave any crumbs . The Uštipci were a standout--served with feta and honey, generously portioned, and so plentiful that we happily took some home. We were too full for dessert this time, but it's absolutely on the list for a return visit. Due to winter weather, we couldn't explore the back of the restaurant, but even from the main dining area, the decor is undeniably charming and full of character. Overall, Cafe Bubamara offers authentic flavors, generous portions, attentive service, and a cozy, old-world atmosphere that makes it a place worth revisiting.

Located off of Route 46 West in Elmwood Park, King Falafel is where I decided on takeout after a 5-year hiatus. Upon arrival at a laid-back, clean, and casual vibe before the lunch crowd, I placed an order of falafel and Greek salad with the friendly chef/owner, Sami, and exchanged a few words. Their menu offers a wide range with options for vegans, vegetarians, and gluten-free. The falafel was crispy, not dry, well-seasoned, and served hot with sides of tahini and spicy sauce. The portions were huge and very tasty. The Greek salad was made to order without onions and green peppers. It was large enough for a second meal. The quality and care the kitchen puts into each dish truly set them apart, and it's authentic. The service was quick and accommodating. The price was reasonable, and one is getting every penny's worth, which I can continue to recommend.

Whether it's a roast turkey with endless sides, spicy meat stew, a seafood extravaganza, or even no-frills Kentucky Fried Chicken, there's no holding back when the season for feasting rolls around. Located on busy Broadway in Elmwood Park, we decided on our Christmas Eve dinner at this family-owned establishment. The reservation was easily made via OpenTable. Upon arrival as first-timers, my partner and I were greeted by the owner at Taverna Mykonos and got a table for two right away in the corner where the tables are close to each other inside their cozy, very dim-lit, and elegant dining room with Christmas music playing throughout. There's a full bar with an extensive selection of Greek wines, with approximately 80% sourced from regions across Greece, as well as other excellent choices from California and Spain. The menu featured both authentic traditional Greek dishes along with many other options. The restaurant bakes all of its bread as well as its desserts. Traditionally, the meat of choice served during a Greek Christmas meal is lamb and pork. For starters, we decided to share Keftedes (Greek-style seasoned meatballs served with tzatziki dipping sauce). For our main meal, we opted for Baby Roasted Lamb with roasted potatoes and Lamb Shank with tomato orzo. Complimentary bread started our meal, and we washed it down with a sparkling spring water product of Greece. Complimentary cookies were given to each table at the end of the meal. The food was fresh, using quality ingredients, tasty, and well-presented. We enjoyed the keftedes very much, as they were moist and complemented well with the tzatziki dipping sauce. The portion was reasonable. However, we were disappointed with the Baby Roasted Lamb, as it was mostly bones with only some pieces of edible meat. Service is professional, friendly, and fast. The cost is comparable to the area. Exchanged a few words with the owner, George, about the old neighborhood in Astoria. Opa!
