We ordered Gol Gappay, lamb biryani, Gosht Karahi, and a naan. The Gol Gappay was interesting. Crispy shells filled with chickpeas and potato, with a tangy, salty, savory flavor. Adding a little yogurt balanced it out nicely. Definitely something different. The lamb biryani was around the low teens price-wise and came in a huge portion with plenty of meat. The lamb was slightly dry -- felt like it may have been prepared earlier and kept warm -- but still flavorful and within expectations for the price. The standout for us was the Gosht Karahi. Tender but slightly chewy lamb, very savory and well seasoned, with lots of large chunks of meat. It looks a bit pricey at first, but considering how much meat you actually get, it felt like a solid value. We packed up half of it and still thought the leftovers were more generous than some restaurants' fresh servings. The naan was massive. Good flavor, although it didn't have that super fresh-out-of-the-tandoor smoky char. Funny enough, reheating it in the air fryer at home made it even better. One thing to know: every dish here runs large, so this place is better with a group. There are parking spots in front, but not many.

Inedible Signature Dish, Shockingly Unprofessional Service, and Zero Empathy…read more We visited this restaurant based on strong recommendations, hoping for a memorable family dinner. Unfortunately, after paying a $221 bill, this turned out to be one of the worst dining experiences we have ever had. While the karai was a redeeming bright spot, the signature nihari was completely disappointing--resembling a heavy, generic spicy curry rather than traditional nihari, and ultimately left uneaten. However, the food was secondary to the appalling level of service. In all our years of dining out, we have never witnessed staff physically clearing plates and food from a table while guests were still in the middle of eating. It is a fundamental breach of basic hospitality and respect. Compounding this, we were dining with our children, including a child with autism who was having a genuinely difficult moment. Given that management is reportedly well aware of these parenting challenges, the complete lack of patience, empathy, or professional grace from the staff was deeply disheartening. A $221 bill should at the very least guarantee a baseline standard of customer care and human decency. Regrettably, due to the total failure in service and professionalism, this was our first and last visit.

I was the only lady there and as I have written in earlier reviews no women come here. The chicken was fresh and tasty but I could manage only half and had it packed. Now the naans here are not the delicate fragrant ones at fancy Indian restaurants. These are thick ones with or without ghee smeared on top (to request) meant for the lumberjack. Here these are in the form of cab drivers and delivery men who need sustenance and no froo froo cuisine. The gender neutral restroom is in my opinion the "Black hole of Calcutta." For men, it may be passable but for women absolutely verboten to enter. At a pinch, go to Kalustiyan where there is a restroom up the stairs. Ideally only should buy something before asking to powder one's nose. Service at Lahori is fine.

I love tasting new restaurants and wanted to stop by this place . Fantastic location . Right in the heart of Lexington Avenue . Lots of other restaurants nearby. Lots of space inside to sit and eat . Even though the ambience is not that great , it's ok for a quick lunch .. service could be better. All guys go inside the kitchen and hardly come out . Wish they had a bell or something in the counter outside for the customers to call them . Sometimes you keep waiting for many minutes before they come out . For the price , food was good . They have many food items on display and we chose some curries .. quantity was good . Naan , white rice and 2 non veg curries for 13.50$. Not bad. ... goat curry was good . Perfect Lahori taste . Chicken curry was average . Could have tasted better . My only issue is presentation. The y just mix all curries in rice and they are smashed all across the plate . Wish they give these curries in separate containers so we can enjoy the flavor of each curries . Another thing is they just reheat these curries . They are precooked . Sometimes with that , we wouldn't know if it is fresh . It tasted fresh though. Overall a good restaurant but giving them 3 stars . Will visit again and check and improve my ratings if needed

Its a super cute family spot. We asked our waiter for recommendations and let me tell you, I give him 5 stars! We had the fried fish to start and shared the goat something or other, butter chicken, Roti and Naan. I can't tell you how many time my eyes rolled in pure enjoyment. I was so so sad when I got full because it was all soooooo good. The spices were so fresh and perfect. I could feel my pores opening but didnt feel like I was on fire. I ordered take out for my husband to try and so I can have more tomorrow because I know I'll be thinking of this meal non stop. I cant wait to return to try more amazing dishes!

However, over our last three visits, we've noticed several concerns: The taste of the food has changed, and some dishes were not properly cooked. The karahi gosht is no longer prepared the way it used to be, and the portion size has also been reduced. The seating arrangement feels too cramped for the space, making it difficult to move around comfortably. When concerns are raised, the standard response is simply, "we will let them know," without any visible follow-up. We genuinely enjoy dining here and would like to continue visiting. However, the inconsistency in food quality, along with pricing and portion concerns, has been disappointing and is making us reconsider. I would greatly appreciate it if the owner could give attention to these issues, particularly ensuring consistency in food quality and taste.

We tried the fried liver which reminded me of weddings and engagement parties etc in South Asia. The halwa in the Mughal breakfast was a brighter red color than we are used to and toning down the color won't hurt but the taste is spot on. Have to admit that I needed to do a bit of an internet search to learn about the Balochistan region. We showed up at 6 on a Tuesday and had the place to ourselves. Super authentic and vibrant decor! While they do have an option to sit on the floor at low tables, we elected to sit on amazingly comfortable chairs. The gentleman who seemed to be the owner was friendly and professional. On my request, he gave some information about Balochistan and then some great food recommendations. We ordered the mutton Rosh and a mixed grill platter. We added an order of the naan, which was perfect with the mutton. The mutton itself was super tender and came with nice condiments and a lentil side dish. The mixed grill platter had a pop of spice. The beef and lamb were tasty but we both thought that the chicken leg quarters were one of the better chicken dishes we've had in a while! Washed it all down with the salty lassi drinks, a perfect yogurt savory complement to the meal!

Aside from the chops in the platter, nearly everything else was overly dry and tasted like it had been sitting for some time. The Rosh portion was quite small, and the chapli kababs were overcooked, hard and lacking moisture. When we brought this to their attention, the response was simply, "sorry, it was cooked too well," which was far from satisfactory. Additionally, the utensils and plates did not appear properly cleaned, raising hygiene concerns. The seating area is also quite cramped and uncomfortable. Considering we spent around $230, the experience fell well below expectations. I would not return.
