Overall a good burger but not the best burger in Toronto. I ordered the Rudy which was a single patty cheeseburger. The beef is cooked fresh so it takes a bit longer to make which I was fine with. I just felt like the sauce was lacking. They call it "Rudy" sauce, couldn't quite identify the flavour but maybe because there was such a small amount of sauce on the burger. I felt like I had to add ketchup in which case why bother with a house sauce. We also ordered the poutine which was really good! It was huge so I was glad we split it between the 3 of us. The gravy tastes homemade so I loved that. And I ordered a chocolate milkshake which was really good too. I would come back here when I'm wanting a burger close to home but I would never say this is on the level of Holy Chuck or Burgers Priest. I like the simplicity of the restaurant and the staff are really really friendly. I enjoy hipster places with nice staff because that combination is so rare in Toronto. I ordered the Double Cheese Burger (Rude Dude Burger) and the Fries. The burger was very filling and the party's were the perfect size and were very crispy (they are smash burgers), I wish they had more options for toppings but I understand the vibe of the restaurant is simple and classic. The fries are similar to Mac Donald's fries, thin and soggy in a delicious way. The order came with a big packet of ketchup and napkins which was very nice. I definitely think this is the best classic smash burger in the city. A bit pricey but understandable compared to most restaurants in Toronto and for how popular they are! read more

My favourite burgers are found at the Burger's Priest and the Whippoorwill, so I dropped in last night to give Rudy a try. I ordered the Rude Dude Tattooed, which is a double cheeseburger with bacon. They ground the beef for my burger on the spot and cooked it on a flat top grill. This thing actually melted in my mouth, and was ridiculously tasty! I didn't try the Valentino (fried chicken sandwich) or the poutine yet, and am eager to, but as soon as I finished my burger, I went up to the counter and ordered another one...it was that good. Was in Toronto on business and checked out Little Italy. A bartender recommended trying a Rudy burger so I gave it a shot. I'm glad I did. Got the "Rudy" and it was exactly what I was craving. A fresh ground beef patty cooked on a piping hot griddle. The patty was seared perfectly to give it a nice exterior crust and keep the party juicy inside. The bun was just the right flavor and amount of bread to soak up all the juices but not overwhelm te flavor of the beef. You can definitely tell this is freshly ground beef and not the typical frozen patty you find in so many restaurants. The burger was topped only with cheese, lettuce, tomato and their Rudy sauce. Just enough condiments - I wish it had onions too, but the burger doesn't really need them. Didn't try the fries, but saw them come out and they looked tasty. I will definitely come back for a burger when I'm in this part of the world. read more

Walked in to by a Rudy burger. Owner apologizes that he is training 2 new guys, so handles cash. he doesn't wash his hands or put on gloves but continues to handle the raw meat, bun, lettuce and cheese.I then watch him rub his "runny?" nose 3 times while he puts the cheese on my order and the next customers 2 burgers. i called the owner on his actions, telling him that he didn't wash his hands or put on gloves and told him i watched him swipe his nose at least 3 times He apologized saying it was only across his thumb and not his index finger, like that makes a difference. Their burger is amazing, but the price for the size you get is not. Worth a try, but not worth coming back regularly. Their poutine is quite a disappointment. The fries used (thick cut) are not at all crisp nor with good potato texture - it's almost as if it's stale. The gravy isn't amazing or anything, tastes a bit bland. Tried my first burger at Rudy's and wish I'd been in sooner. Love the fact that it has a simple menu - those places with pages of choices are just irritating. Today in the Service Industry: After a ten year stint, I retired last year from serving tables. As a child who was taught to go complain if my McDonald's french fries were cold, I've certainly learned to become a more gracious and savvy diner, and deeply sympathetic to the various plights of servers. But today, with my new-found impunity as nothing but a customer, I decided to make a customer service complaint to a manager at a hamburger restaurant. You see, I had walked into a lively room where the music was playing and the cooks were laughing, joking and enjoying themselves while they worked. I was promptly greeted and my order was taken. I sat down to wait for it. Simultaneously, another customer entered and the manager emerged from somewhere in the back. The manager shouted across the room to the other customer, "HELLO! HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN WAITING? HAS ANYONE GREETED YOU YET? BECAUSE YOU SHOULD BE GREETED IMMEDIATELY!" The guy said yeah I just got here. The manager came to the front till and continued speaking very loudly to the man, awkwardly for the benefit of the cooks, "YOU KNOW WHAT? I'M GOING TO BUY YOUR BURGER BECAUSE YOU'VE BEEN STANDING HERE WAITING WHILE THESE GUYS ARE HAVING A LITTLE TOO MUCH FUN!" The music dropped along with all the cooks faces. The customer uncomfortably expressed that everything was fine, he didn't want anyone to be in trouble. The manager took his pickup number and went to the back while this guy and me looked at each other with dismay. He was clearly as uncomfortable as I was. The guy was given his order and left. There was an awkward silence in the room until the server brought me my burgers and thanked me with a first-class server smile. That's when I decided I'd like to file a complaint with the manager, so I asked her to send him over. When he approached, I said, "When you came in here and made that little demonstration of flexing your "management" (air quotes included,) that made me really uncomfortable." And he responds to me in his same "big man on campus" voice, saying "WELL I'M REALLY SORRY THAT MADE YOU UNCOMFORTABLE! WHY?" And so I decided to match his tone, and for the benefit of the cooks I said loudly, "I CAME IN HERE TO A LIVELY PLACE WHERE MUSIC IS PLAYING AND THEY'RE ENJOYING THEMSELVES AND IT WAS GOOD VIBES, EVERYONE WAS GETTING THEIR BURGERS, UNTIL YOU CAME IN AND JUST QUASHED THE ENTIRE ATMOSPHERE, ME AND THAT OTHER GUY WERE SO UNCOMFORTABLE WITH YOUR LITTLE FLEX, IT WAS SO AWKWARD!IT MADE ME NOT WANT TO COME BACK HERE!" I turned and left. In my ten years as a server I've suffered the abuses of so many pea-brained managers, the least I could do was fire one back for the servers. Rudy's went above and beyond in a way I rarely experience for a delivery and fast food joint. We ordered Rudy's for the first time through uber eats Friday evening. I could continue on a rant about uber eats cancelling our order but will focus on how Rudy's saved the day ... we had all been craving burgers and fries. The milkshake was a major plus. Their manager not only called uber eats on our behalf dealing with what I can only assume was a frantic CS person. Also our experience. I wandered into Rudy off the street in the pouring rain one night, and could not have been more pleased with my luck. I ordered the Valentino with a side of fries, which (without exaggeration) was the best fried chicken sandwich I've ever had. On top of this, the staff were incredibly friendly. I came into the restaurant alone and they struck up a conversation with me, pointing me towards their favourite spots to go when visiting Toronto. Absolutely delicious! The burger patties are 'loosely packed' so there's a really good texture when you bite into the burger (it's not hard like hockey pucks)! Poutine is to die for!
