I am from this area and Rudy's has been a staple in the community for a long time. The place has come a long way. The chicken is crispy and flavorful it did not disappoint after all these years. I can say that I asked for extra seasoning and I don't believe it was added. I ordered wings and backs. The wings where awesome and the backs where on the dry side and left a lot to be desired. I still enjoyed the chicken it took me back. The fries are still at the bottom of the basket soaking up the chicken grease. The bread use to be placed at the bottom of the chicken. I am not sure if they changed this or they where just making sure the bread was in the bag. It was there on a Sunday and I did wait in line for at least 20 minutes. We waited in the drive through for about an hour, wish they found a way to speed up the process, but once I got my order, the chicken was hot and fresh. The coating was perfectly crispy and not bready like some other batter. It was served on top of fries with their own seasoning salt. Fries were also tasty, I love fries so that was a plus and then also came with some pickle slices and a jalapeno peppers and bread. Not bad for a delicious​ junk meal at all. Not exactly sure why this place is so popular. I just got the 3 piece tenders (which come with fries - I didn't see it on the menu or I could've just missed it) and their red bean rice (basically chili with rice). The tenders were extremely salty and while the skin was crispy, the meat on the inside felt dry and overcooked. A lot of the fries were soggy and also extremely salty. As for Rudy's sauce, I didn't particularly like the tangy/spicy combination. It didn't pair too well with the chicken. The best part of the meal was the red bean rice, which had nice fluffy rice and a well flavored chili. Service was really quick even though the line seemed pretty long. You ordered your chicken from a window while standing outside. No seating, no patio and cash only. Open til the wee hours of the morning so head on over the bars are closed to keep the party rollin. There are homeless people wandering around late so be cautious. After such a long hiatus, I finally had a chance to make it back for one heck of a cheat meal. I got 3 whole birds (legs, thighs, wings, breasts) and a fried gizzard and liver basket for my friends to try. Total to feed 9 people - $30. Cheap. Oh so wonderfully cheap. The skin is exquisite. Crunchy, seasoned well, and quickly induces a food coma from the sodium overload. I always have an issue with their larger pieces because sometimes the flavors don't quite get through, but for anyone and everyone, I would recommend getting wings. No big deal, I wasn't here for them. As I took a bite of the chicken, DISAPPOINTING! Although the skin was crunchy with light batter (good technique), it was no crunchier than Church's chicken. The favor was sprinkled on. The sprinkle flavor was ok, but definitely was no more flavorful than KFChicken's original recipe. I dug deeper under the skin to find only more disappointments. My issue and disgust with Rudys is the incredible lack of customer service and poor listening. They are very rude and it doesn't really matter who answers the intercom. They over talk u and are so quick to try to give u your order number before u can even get out your complete order details!! It was hard to ignore all the rumors about the wait and if they really have good chicken. I approached Rudy's and noticed all the cars waiting, they need a traffic cop. I waited in the road for ten minutes before pulling into the parking lot. I waited in th e drive-thru for over a hour: texting, catching up on emails, and making calls helped me get through it.
