Under new ownership and after years of dining in we were told by the manager that we could no longer bring outside food in for our kiddo with life threatening food allergies. It was not food from another restaurant but safe food from home. When we tried to get more information we were told it was a liability issue as the manager walked away from the table. There are no signs posted and we were not told this until we had already ordered and seated eating our food as a family. We went ahead and finished our meal and on the way out stopped to speak to another employee, the location is now under corporate and none of the other employees knew of this new rule. This was certainly not the experience I'm used to compared to the many Rudy's I've been to in the Austin area. Breakfast tacos, fresh made, usually come quick from Rudy's. Not at this one. Took quite a while of waiting, even though there were very few customers. Six employees stood around chatting, five of them watching the 6th one who was assembling tacos. Making the tacos took a while, leaving them to sit on the cold stainless steel table a long time - more on that in a minute. The refried beans looked very dry as they struggled to get them to come out of the portion scoop. Received the tacos, which were the smallest I've seen from a Rudy's. I get that you can't put as much on a corn tortilla compared to flour, but, again, these were quite stingy compared to normal. Both tacos were missing cheese, so we went back and they fixed it. Then we got out to the car and noticed the eggs were completely cold in both tacos bowls, and had to go back in. Eating them, the eggs were dry and tough. Wasn't worth dealing with it again so we just left. This was my mom's first experience going to a Rudy's, so I doubt she'll be a repeat customer. Should have just gone down the road to Buc-ee's to get inferior bbq, but at least it's hot and the eggs aren't overcooked. And it doesn't take forever. At least the people in Rudy's were nice to us. AFTERMATH I'd say within an hour I started to feel a little woosie and that uncomfortable feeling where you know something isn't right. I started to feel bloated and I laid down. Another hour passed and I had to go really bad #2 and also immediately after, threw up in the sink because I couldn't get to the toilet. BEST BBQ IN DENTON SO FAR! The girl at the cash register was attentive and knew answers to everything. We came last Thursday and it was amazing. The men cutting the meat were very fast and we had our sandwiches really fast. The was a male worker that was cleaning the entire lobby the entire time we ate our food and even took our huge tray from us. We will be back either Saturday or Sunday. This one is pretty typical except for the drive way a bit hidden and you have to drive around a motel. The BBQ is good and the sides are only okay. Yesterday while running errands, I saw the billboard indicating restaurant was off the highway in Denton. Since I was near I-35 this morning, I decided to get on the highway and head north towards Denton. When I got off the exit and arrived at the intersection, I noticed the restaurant was just north of the northwest corner. There was a bit confusion when I was ordering. There were a few guys behind a grill. I was waiting for one of them to come to the counter while they were waiting for me to order. After an awkward silence, I started to order and someone walked closer to me. The breakfast menu was still available, so I decided to order some breakfast tacos. Not knowing how big the tacos were, I ordered three: Brisket, egg & cheese Rudy's Chop, egg & cheese Chorizo, egg & cheese Because there were no orders before mine, my tacos came out almost immediately. I randomly chose the brisket, chorizo and Rudy's chop in that order. After a couple bites of the brisket, I wondered if I ended up eating the best taco first. When I started eating the chorizo, I wondered if the chorizo was the best. I could definitely taste the spices in the meat. After the first bite of the Rudy's Chop, I realized it was the best taco, if I had to choose. It was like a breakfast taco flight. Fortunately, I did not get any sides as the three tacos were plenty for this morning. As I was finishing my drink, I started noticing the crowd started to arrive after the hour. The typical Sunday crowd may be more interested in an early lunch than having breakfast. i really like their bbq and the cream corn is great i usually pick something up to take home and my order has been wrong more times than its been right. i know its my responsibility to check my order but the last time i checked my order i emptied bag the sides they put in styrofoam with aluminum foil wrapped around the container and i did not unwrap it and open it. in my opinion i would think i should not have to unpack meal open all containers and unwrap bbq to verify the order. last time i ate there instead of corn i got chilli the manager refunded me for the cornsad thing i really like their food but i will not eat there again read more

My wife and I live in N Ft Worth and have missed our Rudy's location where we are loyal regulars; it is closed due to a fire. So, we were so excited to have some business near Denton so we could make a detour to this location. It was 10:30am. We ordered two brisket sandwiches moist and a pound of brisket-moist to have for later. First, the sandwiches were horrible! It was painfully clear that we were given old left over brisket! It was lean, dry and old! It wasn't sliced as much as just chunks and chop. The other 1lb of brisket wasn't nearly as horrible, but nowhere near the quality of brisket we typically enjoy from Rudy's.
