Listen, if I still had a soul, it definitely would have left me yesterday. I ended up here after getting lost and driving an hour in the wrong direction. I am not angry about this mistake. Let's start with the service. The two young men assisting us were about as polite and welcoming as I could ask for. As a first time visitor, I had no idea what to expect so I just stood there observing the menu. The young man behind the counter immediately offered to help but was very patient and polite when I explained I was not ready. However when I was, he was again polite, attentive and swift to start working on my order. Another young man stepped out from the back and was also polite and attentive. Ribs were tender and well seasoned. Good tender brisket but could have been more seasoned. I asked for turkey but they gave me ham even after them asking me if I wanted ham or turkey twice. We love soulman's so much! I've had the out of sight special more times than I can count. I've also had the bbq baked potato and the 1 meat plate and it's all so delicious. My favorite sides are the corn and fried cabbage. Recently they stopped putting all of the sides in the little containers and use the small container inside the big box, I assumed to save money which I totally understand. The only question I have is why does my bbq sauce container have to be smooshed in with my creamed corn? Maybe I'm the only one that has an issue with this but it just kind of grosses me out? It's also messy, I have to wipe corn off the bbq container every time and I just have visions of the bbq sauce container falling on the floor, getting picked back up, and smooshed into my creamed corn lol. It's not really a complaint, maybe I'm being high maintenance (sorry) but I would much prefer to just have the bbq sauce outside of the box. read more

This review is in regards to the complete and utter lack of professionalism and courtesy towards their customers. I have not eaten at this establishment and cannot rate the food. My husband frequently eats here on days I have to work since I'm not the biggest fan of bbq. At least a month ago he found out we could bring our own Thanksgiving turkey to them and they would smoke it for us. Cool, since I didn't want to make the whole turkey, and it's so much easier just making the accoutrements. He called them on Wednesday November 18th and spoke to someone, who answered all our questions about how long it would take, when we should drop it off, how much it would cost, and whether or not we could supply any additional seasonings/herbs. Since we were planning to celebrate on Tuesday because of our work schedules, they suggested we drop it off Sunday or Monday. We were never asked for our name. So I show up today (Monday) to drop it off and the first guy asked me if it was thawed and when I wanted it back, and walked away. A different guy came over and apologized, said there wasn't any more room. He then asked if we'd made a reservation. I didn't know, so gave him our name and repeated the information my husband had given me. A third guy came out with a clipboard and brusquely asked if we'd made a reservation. Again, I told him I didn't know. He stated "well you didn't, because you would be on my list if you had, and you're not. I'm the one you would have talked to, I'm the manager." Paraphrasing the rest of the conversation, he basically said too bad so sad, the cutoff to drop off our turkey was Saturday (the 21st). Now, I guarantee you, if we had actually been informed that the cutoff was Saturday, we would have done so. If we'd been informed there was a reservation list we could have been added to, we would have done so. I do not appreciate the tone that the "manager" took with me, or the insinuation that I'm to blame for not knowing to bring it in earlier. A genuine apology would have gone a lot farther and made me feel like a valued customer. Instead, I was made to feel a fool in front of multiple other employees and customers. I told him my husband would be contacting him, and he wouldn't like what he had to say. As I was walking away, I heard him say that he wouldn't have any problem having him thrown in jail if necessary. We will not be patronizing this restaurant ever again. read more

As my review was based on an Uber Eats order, my dine-in experience may have differed. I ordered the 1/2 Slab of Ribs Plate with the Ranch House Beans and Fried Cabbage as sides. The ribs tasted great as-is, so the bbq sauce remained in its container. I had not expected to enjoy the cabbage over the beans. The Ranch House Beans was bland and tasteless. Its container was filled with water which must have absorbed the flavor while cooking. After several bites, I tossed rest of the beans. Because Fried Okra is on the menu, I expected the Fried Cabbage to be cooked in a similar way. The cabbage was not fried but appeared to be steamed. The buttery Texas toast reminded me of the Lay's commercial. I could not just have one bite and ended up finishing it. The half slab plate is plenty of food for a single meal. If I had finished both sides, I may not be finished all of the ribs. A benefit to ordering via Uber Eats, the buttermilk pie was packed and wrapped. As I was full after finishing the ribs, I waited until my hunger returned to eat the pie. If I had dined in, I may have passed on the pie entirely. read more

I absolutely love this place! Food: They offer generous portions. All of their meat is moist and tender, their seasoning is also great. I also like that they put the calories on display because it makes me feel as though they're very transparent. Another bonus point is that they make the fried okra fresh every time! Desserts are also incredible (love the buttermilk pie) I've only had an issue once and that was with their Texas toast bread it was not fresh, it felt rubbery and the flavor was off. I am giving 5 stars in spite of a mistake, but bear with me. Spring Creek's quality and service has been going down hill the last few times we were in, so my wife and I decided to see what else was available. I had seen Soulman's across the street every time I had taken a vehicle in for brake service, so we decided to give them a try. I ordered the double thingy with brisket and ribs. I then got beans, mac & cheese & a baked potato. My wife got a pulled pork sandwich and mac & cheese. I soon realized that there was no baked potato with my order. I found out it had something to do with the double thing. They gave me a baked potato anyway, at no charge. The food was EXCELLENT! We really loved the crusted mac & cheese. We got up to get some pecan pie and a to go box. I got the pie, and turned around and headed for our table. It had been cleaned off! I gasped loudly and said "our food is gone!" The manager came out and asked us what we had. They then redid our orders to go COMPLETELY at no charge! I ordered delivery from this location last week. This was my first time trying the food from any Soulman's location and I'm not sure how long the Lewisville location has been up and running. There's a lot of BBQ in the area, and it's not all created equal. I normally go with a 2 meat plate so I can try the brisket and pulled pork and make a decision on a place. However, I was busy conducting interviews all week, so I chose to go with something small, so nothing would go to waste during the busy day. The food was delivered in a timely manner. I had gone with a round up sandwich for $5.29 which is a 4 inch sandwich, instead of their larger sandwich that is 6 inches. I also got one small (4 oz) side for $1.98. Not going to lie, when I opened everything up, it was smaller than I had imagined and I was disappointed. However, the side was in a deeper container than I expected and I think it's probably a good match to what is served on the plate. Also, the meat was generous on the sandwich. This was a good example of a first impression being off base. I'm one of those people who believes that good BBQ doesn't need sauce. That sauce though!! That sauce is really good with both smoky and sweet notes, and I was happy to ladle it on my sandwich. If I'm being unbiased, the brisket was only okay without it, a little dry and a tad tough. With the sauce I thought it was a great sandwich and I enjoyed it! They really don't skimp on the meat, there was a ton on the sandwich for the size. I would normally go with fries for a side to a sandwich, but the mac & cheese was calling my name. Guess what, they don't skimp on the cheese either! It was very cheesy and pretty good overall. I thought it was worth the price for the taste and portion. Great first meal, even for ordering delivery. Sausage is perfectly smoked and was the clear winner between 4 of us. We had ranch beans, French fries and spicy potatoes and all were really good. I also liked that they had dill pickle slices onions and jalapeños at a condiment station. You get your own BBQ sauce with your food so there is no public sharing.
