I've gone to this tailor multiple times because the location is convenient. He does overcharge, but in the past the work was at least acceptable--so I kept going. That changed with my most recent suit. The alterations were objectively bad. The jacket was visibly lopsided: one sleeve was about an inch longer than the other, one side of the jacket hadn't been taken in at all, and the pants were tapered far too tight. To make matters worse, the elbow seam hadn't even been sewn properly. I had already paid, so when I pointed all this out, I was told to bring the suit back and they'd "take care of it." Fine. Mistakes happen--what matters is how they're handled. When I picked up the suit after the supposed fixes, I was charged again for correcting their own mistakes. That's the real issue here. They do not stand behind their work. If the outcome is wrong, the responsibility is pushed back onto the customer. That's poor craftsmanship paired with poor ethics. You don't pay for an attempt--you pay for a finished result. If a tailor won't honor the quality of their own work, that's a red flag. I'd strongly recommend finding another tailor, and explicitly asking upfront whether they stand behind their alterations. These guys do not. read more

Well, I held off on this for a while. I actually don't lie writing bad reviews, but Rudy's has gone out of their way to earn it. So, as you may or may not know, Rudy's handles overflow for the Tom ford store on rodeo. So I took my Tom ford suit there. They seemed to undertand the aesthetic (obviously) and angel didn't need to be prompted to balance the sleeves so I was fine with them doing the tailoring. He told me it would take a week, but I have then a little longer-- I'd pick up the suit on a Thursday morning for a Saturday wedding. This way, if there are issues, they can be fixed. Well, it wasn't done Thursday morning but was told it would be done by 4. So I rearranged my day to drive from culver to weho at 4 pm. Guess what? It wasn't done. So I then had to rearrange things again to pick it up Friday morning. When I got there not only was it boxy as hell (read: wrong. Flat out wrong) but angel was nowhere to be seen. So I took it and texted angel when I go home. To his credit he offered to make it right, but he'd burned all the time he had so it wasn't possible. I had to stuff things into my chest pocket to achieve any semblance of. Decent silhouette. At this point, I was actually going to let it go, but I have to fly to Atlanta next week so I texted him to see how long it would take to get it fixed He left me on read. Twice. Don't get fooled by the one star reviews here. Many of them are old anyway. Angel is the best tailor in town. I have been going to him for years. He worked on many expensive pieces I have, suits, blazers, pants, jackets, you name it, and in a variety of fabrics including leather and Suede. He was able to do alterations that other tailors I used to go before Angel said can't be done. If you are just looking of finding the cheapest alteration, then just go to a cleaners tailor. At this place, you get what you pay for and that is impeccable work. I highly recommend Angel. Don't listen to what is being said from years ago and don't be fooled at how the place looks. Unfortunately they are crooks and unreliable, hate to say it because originally they did a great job but second time around was a disaster. They requested 1 week for pick up which was fine, when I arrived to pick up my suit, he said he needed another week which I reluctantly accepted and left I wasn't in a rush, I needed it for the following week. When I came back the third time and tried on my suit, I realized no tailoring was done at all, and he was trying to pass it off as completed and it fit me the same as when I originally dropped it off. I was so angry and felt deceived and frustrated. I understand they're busy and I was very fair and understanding of their situation, but trying to pawn off an untouched suit as tailored is as low down and deceptive as they come, especially in such a high-end area and location. Overall, this was a complete waste of time and I ended up paying an exorbitant amount for work that was not completed in a timely manner. I don't recommend this place to anyone unless you have a relationship with the owner and he will prioritize you. read more

Drove for over an hour from Pasadena to pick up my jacket which I left for altering. Arrived on date and time specified by Angel working there. Jacket was untouched. Work had not even begun. The goons working here have no sense of respect or responsibility for other people's time. Stay away. read more

You can remove the professional out of their name. I had two suits altered, price was pretty high but was hoping for great work. They were supposed to be done on a Weds for a Sat event. Showed up on Friday neither suit was ready. Guy told me to come on Sat morning at 10am. Show up at 10am shop, no one is there. No one answers the phone even though they are supposed to be open. The BEST in the business for men's and (at the moment, some) women's tailoring! Beautiful work every time -- especially capable of tackling complex tailoring projects (like shortening my husband's Tom Ford jacket sleeves, and reproducing the working buttonholes PERFECTLY). Rudy is a pro with men's clothing and he has done a lot of tailoring of women's clothing for me. I can't speak to the previous experience of another Yelp reviewer, except to say if you are going to do research about tailoring a specific item, it would make sense to CALL the tailor and inquire of they are able to do your job before driving over there! I discovered Rudy's after making an egregiously expensive purchase at H. Men which needed some minor alterations. The staff at H Men recommended Rudy's and I've been going there ever since. The staff is super attentive and ridiculously polite. Anything you want done, they'll do for you. Everything I've sent to them has come back fitting like a glove. Ladies, be warned. They don't do dresses. I bought a very expensive skirt that I really love, but it's just a tad too long. I did extensive research online and after seeing all the positive reviews for Rudy's, I decided to give him a try, even though it was kind of a trek from my house. After spending about 20 minutes stuck in traffic on Sunset Blvd this morning (there's a lot of construction), I pull into Rudy's and walk in with the skirt. A very nice gentleman informed me ,"Oh, I don't do dresses". I totally understand, but I wish there anyway I could have known this before wasting my time this morning. I've never encountered a tailor who only does pants and shirts and since he has no website, there was no way I could have known. I called Rudy and he was courteous and said to head over and he could take care of it. His shop is quaint, has plenty of parking and was easy to find.
