I cannot say thank you enough to Lina!!! My mom had gifted me a heavily sequined vintage dress with ostrich feather trim, and it needed to be taken in before I could wear it. She was able to hand sew and tailor it to fit me perfectly! She was so kind to fit me in to her busy schedule and even finished the dress ahead of when I needed it. Her work is truly incredible!

When my wife returned the next morning, the dress looked and fit perfectly. Look good, feel good as they always say. 5 Stars - Lifesaver Before the Emmys! I came to LA for the Emmys and the night before my flight, I tried on my dress--only to realize it was way too big. I had lost a bit of weight and the fit was completely off. The dress looked boxy and frumpy, and I honestly started to panic. Thankfully, I found Lina--the amazing owner of Alterations Et Al in West Hollywood. I reached out and she invited me to bring the dress in to see what could be done. She was so warm, kind, and professional--and even with the tight turnaround, she agreed to take on the rush job. The dress needed a lot of work, but when I picked it up, it fit like a glove. It looked flawless and felt like it had been custom-made for me. Lina is not only incredibly talented, but also fast, detail-oriented, and just lovely to work with. FYI as of 6/30/2023, Lina's new address is: 8961 Sunset Blvd Lina is incredible! So much attention to detail and knows how to creatively solve any sort of fashion emergency! Usually I am in no rush for alterations from Lina but I had an emergency red carpet event that I needed a dress tailored in 1 week and Lina came through! I felt beautiful and comfortable, all thanks to Lina's magic touch. Although I moved across town, I still drive to West Hollywood because I don't allow anyone else to touch my clothes other than Lina. Great prices and great quality of work! read more

THE BEST! I had some shipping complications for my wedding dress, went to Alterations Et Al and got to get my alterations for my wedding dress on the same day!! We all know that it's very challenging to find someone who will do a great job for alterations to our clothes especially our nice, expensive items. I can assure you that Lina on 632 Doheny in West Hollywood is ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC!! My boyfriend had expensive 7 and Joe's jeans that he bought in standard cut fit to be made into Boot cut so they would fall over his shoes correctly, shortened, original hemmed and expand the crotch region to be more comfortable. I recommended her after I had an issue from a different alteration place that tried to original hem on my Hudson jeans. Lina did a fantastic job on my boyfriends expensive jeans. He loved the feel and fit!! I know that was tedious tough work and not easy. Currently she may have a small space to do her work in, but her work produces HUGE EXCEPTIONAL AND EXCELLENT RESULTS. Additionally, she is very nice and knowledgeable to deal with and executes on what your needs are. I highly highly recommend Lina as I will be bringing her more clothes to alterate in the future. read more

Lina is a freakin' alterations MASTER. My jenny yoo bridesmaids dress was too long and the style of the bodice had a weird loose hanging midsection that didn't look great and made me look like I had a belly pooch. The length is perfect now and she did amazing work getting rid of the hanging midsection fabric and it's perfectly fitted now. Lina is super friendly and you can tell she really cares about giving you exactly what you want! read more

Lina is amazing!!!! I brought in a knitted long sleeve cardigan, fancy, with intricate weaving and pulled through it in multiple locations (drawer and cabinet pulls, door handles etc). I searched for two years w/ that beautiful sweater I wasn't willing to part in the trunk of my car hopeful I'd find a tailor/seamstress who could fix it. Well, I picked it up from Lina last week and was AMAZED AND FLOORED to say the least at the quality work she did and perfection in fixing it. Their seamstress permanently damaged two of my designer dresses during alterations. I was very clear, multiple times, about where I wanted the alterations made. Instead, she chose to alter them in different places, cut into the dresses, and sewed them into new spots that I did not approve. The result was not what I asked for, and the damage is not realistically repairable back to the original condition. At first, they acknowledged the issue and told me they would compensate me for the damage. Now, they have completely gone back on that and are ignoring me. After years of being a loyal customer and giving them a significant amount of business, it feels like they were only happy to communicate when I was paying them. They are also one of the most expensive dry cleaners I have ever used, which makes this even more frustrating. For the prices they charge, I would expect professionalism, accountability, and basic care with valuable garments- not unauthorized alterations, permanent damage, and then being ghosted when it comes time to make it right. I would strongly caution anyone from trusting them with anything valuable, sentimental, designer, vintage, or difficult to replace. I regret giving them my business for as long as I did.

That changed with my most recent suit. The alterations were objectively bad. The jacket was visibly lopsided: one sleeve was about an inch longer than the other, one side of the jacket hadn't been taken in at all, and the pants were tapered far too tight. To make matters worse, the elbow seam hadn't even been sewn properly. I had already paid, so when I pointed all this out, I was told to bring the suit back and they'd "take care of it." Fine. Mistakes happen--what matters is how they're handled. When I picked up the suit after the supposed fixes, I was charged again for correcting their own mistakes. That's the real issue here. They do not stand behind their work. If the outcome is wrong, the responsibility is pushed back onto the customer. That's poor craftsmanship paired with poor ethics. You don't pay for an attempt--you pay for a finished result. If a tailor won't honor the quality of their own work, that's a red flag. I'd strongly recommend finding another tailor, and explicitly asking upfront whether they stand behind their alterations. These guys do not.

So, as you may or may not know, Rudy's handles overflow for the Tom ford store on rodeo. So I took my Tom ford suit there. They seemed to undertand the aesthetic (obviously) and angel didn't need to be prompted to balance the sleeves so I was fine with them doing the tailoring. He told me it would take a week, but I have then a little longer-- I'd pick up the suit on a Thursday morning for a Saturday wedding. This way, if there are issues, they can be fixed. Well, it wasn't done Thursday morning but was told it would be done by 4. So I rearranged my day to drive from culver to weho at 4 pm. Guess what? It wasn't done. So I then had to rearrange things again to pick it up Friday morning. When I got there not only was it boxy as hell (read: wrong. Flat out wrong) but angel was nowhere to be seen. So I took it and texted angel when I go home. To his credit he offered to make it right, but he'd burned all the time he had so it wasn't possible. I had to stuff things into my chest pocket to achieve any semblance of. Decent silhouette. At this point, I was actually going to let it go, but I have to fly to Atlanta next week so I texted him to see how long it would take to get it fixed He left me on read. Twice. Other issues include leaving tears in brand new pants (see pics) and not caring enough to stitch right. They'll fix the tears and redo the hems if you ask, but 50% of the redos are still messed up. Hems are $30/$40 each but they still don't care enough to take the time to do it right. I truly regret bringing my clothes here. Save your money. Go somewhere else.

I believe he said he could have them ready in one day (no extra fee), which is almost unheard of for designer shoes. The place I used to go to would take at least a week and wasn't nearly as friendly or welcoming. I've only brought my Chanel flats here so far, but I'll definitely be bringing my Louboutins in the future. He even showed me examples of Louboutins he had worked on, and they looked amazing! So happy I found this place -- highly recommend, especially for designer shoes!

Lina is amazing. My husband and I have brought in 8 or 9 pieces between the two of us over the last three months, and have been always been very happy with the results. I've brought in a $50 Madewell skirt, $300 Apiece Apart pants, and an old bag that needed mending, and she's paid the same careful attention to each one. The other reviews here talk about Lina's skills with bigger projects, which she'll charge more money for, but my experience has always been with smaller alterations (cropping, taking the waist of a skirt in, etc) and her prices for these services have always been extremely reasonable ($15 to crop a pair of my husband's pants, for example) while also excellent in quality. Cannot recommend Lina enough! She's so friendly and pleasant to work with, too. read more

Lina is at a lovely, new location in West Hollywood. She has been doing alterations for me for over ten years. I discovered her first at a local tailor, then followed her to another location, then out to Glendale, and finally she has relocated locally and permanently. Yea! I have become dependent on her for perfect alterations. Additionally, she has redesigned several pieces for me and has created a new dress from scratch, using a worn-out garment as a pattern. Lina is absolutely wonderful! She is a highly skilled and very detailed seemstress who has many many years of experience, and she's lovely, to boot. She's altered various off-the-rack items for my family and me, in addition to making the flowergirls' dresses for my wedding, from scratch. I brought in a jacket of my boyfriend for embroidery to promote his podcast Let Love Rule. Lina was such a joy to visit.
