Ruff Mutts is absolutely fantastic!! Rae has been giving my pit bull/American bulldog mix Tina walks while I'm at work for about 9 months, and it has made my life so much easier to know I can be gone for a full work day without my girl getting lonely or having to hold it. Rae has always been super accommodating when I need to make last-minute changes, and she's tough -- she walks rain or shine, even at odd hours when my crazy schedule demands it, so if I'm feeling sick or lazy, I know Tina gets at least one good period of activity to wear her out physically and mentally. I've also noticed changes in Tina since Rae has been walking her -- she's dropped weight and has more stamina, PLUS her leash manners have done a total 180. It used to be exhausting to walk all 80 pounds of her no matter what kind of collar or harness I used, but she has gotten SO much better. It makes it much more enjoyable to take her out on trails now that I'm less likely to be dragged to my death over the side of a mountain. The logistical side of working with Ruff Mutts has also been seamless. Rae always sends me my invoices and receipts on schedule, and Ruff Mutts' prices are better than fair for the awesome care they give my girl. Plus, the reliable daily pictures and videos of my pooch out on the town (and the notes waiting for me at home) crack me up and brighten my day. The most important thing, though, is that I trust the Ruff Mutts team and their judgment, which any pet parent knows what really matters. When I was away on a trip and Tina gave herself a little paw injury, Rae took care of her and kept me posted so I didn't have to worry. If anything serious happened while I was away, I know I could trust Rae to make decisions on my behalf, which is a wonderful feeling and lets me actually relax when I'm away! Rae and her team have taken care of Tina for several vacations ranging from two days to 10, and they're great about figuring out a combination of visit frequency and duration that works best for Tina to make sure she's as happy as possible while her mom's gone. I'm always totally at ease knowing my princess is being pampered and loved by such amazing people while I'm away. It's a radical difference from the time I boarded her at a dog daycare for two nights in Florida. She hated being away from home, refused to eat (which is a big deal for my chunky monkey) and moped when I got back, but since Rae has been taking care of her during my vacations, I come home to a happy pup. I really can't say enough about how great Rae and Ruff Mutts are. I really believe Rae genuinely adores Tina, and it's mutual -- I've never seen her get so excited to see someone. I have been using Rae and Ruff Mutts for over a year now. I had never used a dogwalking service and didn't exactly know what to expect. I was nervous as I have a 120lbs Rottweiler, who is strong and can be a barking jerk on walks when he sees a kitty or squirrel. Rae came over for a meet and greet and we took a practice walk around the block. I immediately saw that she was a kind, sincere individual who bonded with my pet and I was also so impressed with how she got him inline with his leash manners--on the first walk! From then on, it's been pure bliss! I frequently tell friends, family and coworkers about how Rae has changed our life! She is amazing! I really don't think I could do it without her. I work at the hospital, have long shifts, and occassionally pick up call shifts and contact her last minute. She is highly flexible and extremely reliable. I love the emails and texts she sends me after each walk to see how the day went. But what I love most are the little love notes with a treat she leaves for Chief. He is more than just a pet to me and Rae truly understands this and relieves much worry and stress. I know with each visit Chief gets exercise and a huge dose of TLC in the middle of my long days away. In addition, he is almost 11 years old and has some special needs. He had a rough month of pneumonia a few months ago and wasn't up for much. Rae is able to assess his needs and energy and get him out for the full 30 min visit when he is up for it or see that he get out and go potty and gets lots of pets and treats when he is sick. I think her services are well priced, a great value, and her invoices and billing are extremely user friendly. When either of my roommates get home (Chief has known each of them for years) the dog does not get up or greet them. When Rae walks in, he greets her at the door--and if you have a dog, you know that speaks for itself! I could not recommed Rae enough to care for all your animal care needs! read more

I cannot possibly say enough good things about Rae and her company, Ruff Mutts. I have an old(er) dog - probably about 10 years. He's big. He's set in his ways. He has growled, snarled, and snapped at people (Vets, dog trainers and regular people as well) in the past. It's not because he's a bad dog, he just doesn't like it when people get in his face. Rae was the first person to ever truly understand what I meant when I told her to just ignore him, let him come to you, which tells me A LOT about how much she really comprehends the mindset of a dog. I had to take a trip out of town this fall, and couldn't take my BFF with me. While trying to come up with a plan for what to do with him when I was gone, I stumbled across Ruff Mutts because a neighbor of mine was taking advantage of their services and recommended them. For 4 days they cared for not only my dog, but also cleaned up after my cats (which had peed all over the kitchen) while they were here to walk him and left detailed notes about what happened while she was here. She was the first non-family-member ever to tell me that my boy was a sweetie (which he's really not). Again, I really believe this was because she not only listened to me, but she listened to HIM. I was pretty stressed while I was gone, assuming he'd snap at her or worse. I guess I didn't give her enough credit up front. She did the job so well I would have gladly paid her 2X what she billed me. I would NOT hesitate to recommend this company to anyone who needs help caring for a pet while they are gone from home. Ruff Mutts cooperative is easily the best pet-sitting service in all of... the world!!! Rachel and her staff are extremely attentive and kind to the animals. She is trustworthy and very responsive whenever I have worries about my two little pups. She sends us daily updates via email when we're gone containing photos and videos of our pups and all the fun they're having with her. Honestly I'm a little jealous how much my dogs love her. They are so excited to see her! And you can tell she really loves animals. She's like Cinderella in that scene where she gets the mice to do her housework and the birds to do her sewing. That's the kind of relationship she has with animals. She is also a very friendly person and a pleasure to be around. She makes sure everything is taken care of and you know immediately that she's trustworthy. I wish other businesses were like Rachel's Ruff Mutts cooperative. We have a problem dog. His name is Booger. Maybe he decided early on to live up to his name, or was just born boogerey, but there is no doubt he is one. In the past we have been able to either take him with or arrange for one of our long suffering and patient relatives to care for him while we were gone. This time, my poor Mom pulled the Booger card, but she was not able to potty break him during the day. Cue Rae, the amazing dog walker/dog whisperer/Booger magician! Rae updated Mom with written notes, us with e-mails and pics, and was all around awesome! She went way above and beyond, even cleaning up a kitty pee ( of course, we must be punished for going away by the kitties, which entails peeing in things like slippers, the blender, or basically anywhere but the litterbox) which was WAY out of scope for her. I admit, we have a weird, complicated assortment of dogs. When I moved back to Portland last year, the first thing I did was look for a pet sitter that would be able to handle my pups and that I felt comfortable leaving them with. Rae has been amazing from day one. I have a dog that is large and can be intimidating with her nervous barking when she meets someone new. Rae took the time to let Pooh get to know her and now they are the best of friends. And when my big senior dog took a turn for the worst she never hesitated to keep caring for him, even when it took a lot of extra effort. Exceptional dog walking service, hands down. I had a poor experience with a dog walking service in Portland years ago, so I was weary regarding hiring a dog walker again. That said, when I met Rae (and later, Kelly) I felt comfortable handing them a key to my home and leaving my dog and my friend's dog in their care. Not only did they take both dogs on long walks for a reasonable price, they also came to my rescue when my friends who were supposed to take over care while I was out of town could not make it, and I had to scramble for additional dog walking from three hours away. They rearranged their plans, made it to my house and even called to let me know the dogs were okay and on their way for a bathroom break/late breakfast. But all the promptness and diligence in the world (which they have in spades) is nothing compared to how much my pets love them! Rae has taken care of my cat and rabbit for probably over a year when out of town. Her service is excellent, always reliable and reasonably priced. Having her watch out for my animals has taken a load off my mind when I leave town because I know my animals will be well-taken care. I love getting the photos and videos!! Rachel is amazing. We hate boarding our beloved chocolate lab, Boone, and much prefer for him to stay in the comforts of our home when we are traveling. Ruff Mutts is amazing. They have provided congenial and unwavering in-home care for my cat for a very reasonable price! They had me fill out paperwork on my cat's preferences, behavior, dietary/medical needs and I really feel that if anything ever went wrong while I was away that I could absolutely trust them to handle it well. Rachel and Emma provide fantastic care for my Australian Cattle Dog, Stella. They started coming to my house when she was just a small pup to play with her, walk her and help with training. Their fees are very reasonable, and they always send a short text with a picture of Stella while I am at work, letting me know how the visit went. Rachel is a fantastic dog walker! She is very knowledgeable and a pitbull advocate which I love. She even has a wonderful pitbull named Periwinkle who she brings over to have playdates with my shepherd while I'm at work. Affordable, thorough and I know my dog loves it because I get photos and videos via email everytime she gets walked.
