I had to go on a last minute business trip for 5 days and needed someone to take care of my 9-month old Labrador puppy while I was away. Michael was able to accommodate us at the last minute. Mike has been walking our Rottie, Cleo, since she was a little puppy. Originally he was just stopping by a couple times a day to give her the potty breaks she needed, but now walks her a couple times a week when I don't have her with me during the day. It's great to have him in the neighborhood as he's super flexible in his schedule and is always been more than happy to help out if our schedule suddenly changes and we need someone to look after her. I'm sure every dog owner says this, but my dog Ziggy is not just a pet. She's my kiddo and a member of the family. My boyfriend and I took the process of finding a dog walker as seriously as we would say look for a doctor or say a babysitter. We were referred to Mike of Ruff Paws when our previous dog walker moved. Mike was very responsive and he showed up to our apartment for our interview on time. We had a ton of questions from: "tell us what a typical walk is?" to "what do you do if a dog gets injured?" Mike answered the questions professionally and smart as well. My boyfriend is a straight-shooting kind of guy and if he sensed an air of lack of professionalism or lack of trust in Mike, he would not have decided to move forward with Ruff Paws. For me, I really cared about if Mike would take care of Ziggy as if she was his own pet. I can say that he cares about each of his dogs and treats them like his own. A great benefit of Ruff Paws is he does not drive to pick up your pet, so when you book a 1-hour session, you will get 1 hour of exercise and socialization for your dog. Another benefit is the relatively small groups. Mike is very reliable and trustworthy. He comes in, says hi to Ziggy, and gets her ready for her walk. After searching for the right walker for my Moose for months, I finally found Mike who is both personable and genuine. If you're looking for someone you can trust with your dog, look no further! I did tons of research and am SO happy I chose Ruff Paws. Mike is incredible. I have a high energy puppy who loves walks with other dogs and Mike takes him for amazing long walks in Burns Vista etc. with a small group of dogs. He gets so excited for his walks! Mike also was gracious enough to help me with training when my puppy was giving me problems. He's in the neighborhood and is able to accommodate additional walks and always texts me to let me know if there's anything new or different (eg shorter walk because of rain or smoke). Mike is great with older or skittish or older dogs too; there's an older lab mix who lives in my building, and he has been taking her for 1:1 walks for years. Bottom line: Mike is energetic and kind, and it's clear that he's passionate about dogs (he runs this company all on his own). Mike just recently took care of our 6 month old puppy for 4 weeks while we were on the east coast. Our local pet store recommended him to us and all his references that I called on were raving, Our puppy Teddy liked Mike instantly, as did we. He was clearly trustworthy and responsible from the first meeting we had with him. During the four weeks we were away, Mike stayed in our home. This was best for us because we wanted Teddy to have some consistency during the four weeks he lost his family to travel. We had good communication with Mike the whole time we were out of town. He sent photos, videos, and updates via text. When we returned, our house was in great shape and so was Teddy. He was happy, had grown well, had been given lots of dog socialization, and Mike had clearly maintained all of the training we had worked on with Teddy before we left Ruff Paws took great care of our pup and we would highly recommend their services! read more
