Samantha at Ruff Pup brought our dog Winnie to the vet for UTI care today.
Nicole R.

Our rescue pup Winnie was scheduled to start her board-and-train while she was mid-UTI medication a few weeks ago. Our vet had advised us to come back for another urine test if we felt it hadn't fully cleared. Thankfully, the team at Ruff Pup truly cares about the dogs in their program and noticed right away that it still wasn't fully resolved. They got her into their local vet the same day to make sure she received the treatment she needed. We're so grateful that Winnie is getting excellent care while also being able to continue and finish out her training.

Zin

I can't say enough wonderful things about Ruff Pup Canine Academy! Samantha and Bobby have truly changed my dog Zin's life -- and mine. From the very first consultation, they were warm, professional, and incredibly knowledgeable. You can instantly see their passion for what they do and the genuine love they have for every dog that comes through their program. Zin came in with leash pulling, reactivity, basic obedience issues and within a short time, I saw unbelievable progress. Samantha and Bobby not only worked directly with Zin, but they also gave me the tools and confidence I needed to continue his training at home. Their approach is balanced, clear, and always focused on setting both the dog and the owner up for success. What stands out the most is how much they care. They celebrate the wins with you, no matter how small, and they treat your dog like family. Zin absolutely adores them -- and I can see why. If you're on the fence about training, don't wait another minute. Ruff Pupp Canine is the best investment I've made for my dog. Thank you Samantha and Bobby for helping Zin become the happy, well-behaved pup I always knew he could be! Looking forward to boarding with you in the future, since I know he loves to stay with you both.

Selena's last day of training

We are beyond grateful for Ruff Pup! When our Lab, Selena, was just 8 weeks old and full of energy, Sam stepped in and helped us with the early days of training. From basic commands to helping her burn off that wild puppy energy in a positive way, Sam was patient, loving, and clearly knew what she was doing. Now, four years later, Selena still gets so excited every time she sees Sam and Bobby. Whenever we go out of town, there's no stress--Selena stays with Sam and her family and we know she's in the absolute best hands. It's clear how much they love her like one of their own, and we truly couldn't ask for a better second home for our pup. If you're looking for someone who treats your dog like family and actually understands dogs, Ruff Pup is the one. We can't thank them enough!

My usual boarding place was booked up due to the onset of summer and so were the 3 subsequent places I checked. So glad Happy Paws had recommended Blue Ridge. Kaitlin, the owner gave me a tour of the modest but well maintained grounds and explained her philosophy. I was very impressed at the service between her and Rebecca. I forgot to bring my dogfood back and Rebecca was kind enough to drop it off at my house when she was in town. The online reservation system makes things really easy. Near the freeway, it makes drop offs en route to the airport easy.

One of my dogs typically gets so anxious when he is being boarded that he won't eat, but he will eat here. I personally believe it is the higher level of attention he gets here. Rebecca is awesome! In fact last year I went into labor A MONTH EARLY. I contacted them and they made accommodations for us to drop off on the way to the hospital. Rebecca was so helpful during such a stressful time and grabbed the dog from the car nascar pit-stop style. We had our daughter about two hours after making it to the hospital. We love this place and so do the dogs. A true hidden gem!

For all my pet families, I would not recommend "Harmony Kennels and Transport" owner Bobbi Jean…read moreKelly. My dog was transported from El Paso to Naples, Fl. I want to start off saying that I'm entirely grateful my dog made it safely to his destination. I understand there can be delays to do traffic, driving, stopping to sleep, eat etc; but communication is key! Hilo's (my dog) first driver was a day and half late, mistakes happen, no biggie we pushed back pick up time to the following day for 10am- 1pm. 3pm rolls around, no sign of our driver without a single update. So I contact Bobbi, who explains to me the driver fell asleep and should be there around 6pm ( 5 hours later..again I understand transport drivers need sleep but a text would have been appreciated). At this point I was getting nervous because I had a flight to catch. Anyways, the driver pulls up doesn't introduce himself at all and was in a compact car. I was informed Hilo would be transported by a van, so again another red flag. At this point I told Bobbi I was uncomfortable with the situation, but insisted she would pick up Hilo personally and meet up with the other driver the following day. Hilo starts making his trip and after the first day his air tag was disabled which was nerve racking. However, I did appreciate the one photo Bobbi sent and her updates throughout his trip . Hilo's drop off time was suppose to be late at night, she pushed it to the follow morning. Again, no biggie ! Well she didn't drop Hilo off until AFTER 5pm, it wouldn't have been an issue if she told me ahead of time because I had a family member cancel there entire day to wait for my dog. But I kept my mouth shut because all the matters is that my dog got there safely. Now, the fun part. Hilo's leash, toy, and 2 food stands were missing. Had I known this I wouldn't have paid her the remaining balance until that was taken care off. Unfortunately, I was in Boston and my mom didn't know what to look for. I kindly reached out to Bobbi and informed her Hilo's stuff was missing. She responded a couple days later saying if she didn't hear back from the first transporter in 24 hours she would reimburse me the $97 for Hilo's missing items. Bobbi notified me that the first transporter had his leash and toy and immediately ghosted me. Again, I understand transporters work really hard to get pets to their owners, they're on tight schedules etc. But to not reply to me for an entire week is unacceptable. I consider myself to be a laid back and understanding person but this whole experience was not it. After reaching out 5 times, I guess I'm out $97 which is super unfortunate because we have a baby on the way and every little penny counts. To wrap this up, I would not recommend this company especially if you're on a schedule and you want your stuff to go missing . I also recently learned they have tons of lawsuits against them.

I'm begging anyone considering using this company, please don't!! We had maintained a nice foundation but felt it was appropriate based on a myriad of factors. We were placed with Emily and our experience was excellent. We knew Emily from many of our group trainings but had yet to do extensive one on one with her. Emily's approach is honest, consistent, soft (but firm) and very relatable. She was communicative in every way and made us feel safe. Given we had already done one camp we felt comfortable with the facility but each trainer brings their own nuance. Emily was clear and concise with each weekly update- she was really positive and had a ton of healthy feedback. Training is a huge investment of time and money.... Something we don't take lightly, but we have felt it was incredibly worth it both times. The continued support offered is 10/10, the communication is consistent and the general vibe is that everyone really wants to be there, including all the pups. Our dog has been home one full week, and we feel really good about the tools we've been given for continued success.

We had built somewhat of a foundation for her at home but there were still things she needed to learn and work on. She has learned so much and they give you all the tools and advice to be successful at home to reinforce training. Additionally, after the program they provide weekly group sessions to continue the training and keep consistent. We all had different ways of how to train him and it was causing a rift in the family. I was turned down by some trainers until I came across Jonathan Wong's page. He was local, he was fast to get back to me and he was willing to give us a chance after everything I told him. Kody still has a long way to go and I will continue with Jonathan as his trainer, but it is night and day after three months of training with Jonathan. He was dog and people aggressive, to the point we had to avoid them entirely. We can now go for walks, albeit we move opposite of any dog and can keep walking without any barking or pulling. He was always actively pulling on the leash and bad at recall. He is loose leashed now and responds with recall with our daughter. In the end I had to get use to the idea that Kody was a crate or muzzle dog when it came to large crowds or people in our home. I felt awful but Jonathan was so supportive and positive as I came to terms with it. I hope as we continue to train with Jonathan and Kody builds his confidence that soon things might change for him. Jonathan has such a kind soul and so encouraging when it comes to both us and Kody. I cannot thank Jonathan enough for what he has done for us. He left solid foundations for us to grow on. We reviewed online and even went to some in person. One we skipped because play time included wayyy too many dogs (big & small) and the conditions just looked awful. And other places look like they accept ANY dog, no matter the temperament, and seemed very overwhelming. I remember crying because not only was my spouse sad that I no longer wanted to take trips because of my worries for Howl, but also because I felt so guilty leaving him, and would play terrible scenarios of his days alone like being neglected, getting hurt, etc. I made it my life's mission to find a good place to stay and after a while searching, I found Dog's Life. It was an hour away from us but at that point distance didn't matter and we just wanted to find some comfort so we drove there as soon as we could. From the second we met Star I felt a sense of RELIEF! She explained her boarding process, the fact that she limits the number of campers, and only accepts dogs that are a good fit for each group staying over. She's also extremely attentive to the dogs needs and keeps us up to date with photos and videos which I desperately needed, especially the first few stays. We went shortly after again for play camp and we're so ecstatic that we found such a good place - especially because Howl is a pug and Star specializes in brachycephalic breeds! THANK YOU STAR, our quality of life (and howl's as well) has improved so much since finding a trustworthy sitter. if anyone is considering a place for their loved one, this is it!!
