Today when I walked in there where 2 water trough type containers in the front of the store. One had about 10 baby chicks & another had 6-8 rabbits. The rabbits had no where near enough space & were living in their own excrement. Why is ace hardware selling animals? If these animals were rescues there was no information about it. I can only assume these are bred animals, living in way too small of spaces. As long as animals are sold for profit here i will not be back. Too bad since i this store is so convenient. read more

Don't go during COVID. Both the county and city have mandatory mask policies in place due to huge increase in cases across the state. The manager does not care. All three employees by entrance were standing together and none had masks. Another was walking around with customers, no mask. Amazingly few customers had masks, and there were no signs. Usually a standard Ace, convenient, small selection of most needs, but well below Ace average employee knowledge. read more

Been going to this store for years and have always had great customer service. Today i was exchanging and item for a larger size. Didnt have my reciept but talked to a manager right when i walked in and he said it would be ok and they can look it up under our rewards number. We left the return items at the cashier and went to get our replacement items. When we returned to the cashier (Michelle, who is awesome!) She called for a manager for the return item. A different manager came to the front named Gail. She was very rude! We noticed we didnt get the full amount for our return and my wife asked her why. Gail said because we didnt have a receipt. Michelle the cashier told Gail that we had spoken to the other manager when we walked in and my wife said to Gail that the other manager said they could look it up under our rewards number. Gail the manager said "well i guess he should have come up here and done it then" and turned around and walked off! Like i said i have been coming here for years because i dont always like going to the big box stores and i appreciate the excellent customer service at this store. This isnt about the money (it was only a couple of dollars difference) but i dont appreciate a manager acting like she is annoyed that she has to do her job and then being extremely rude and disrespectful to my wife. I've come here several times, usually for advertised deals. Got my entire home on LED bulbs for about $80. (BOGO sale) I've also gotten Christmas lights, staple gun, etc from here. Never had any customer service issues. Everyone always seemed friendly and eager to help. I came in for their red trash can but they were out of stock when it said it was. Not only did they help me get the right screw and bolts, the service person (didn't get his name but he's a drummer from Chicago) put the bolts on the stand for me. Just stopped by Ace. Looking at their displayed patio umbrella. Ready to purchase. My husband demonstrates why he likes it... When we hear from the front of the store, " sir, sir, STOP WHAT YOU'RE DOING!" My husband explains and she says "yes but your messing with my sign"... Why then put the darn umbrella next to the stupid sign when you know people are curious about a product and want to see how the item functions?!? Sale lost. We left. Woman needs customer service training and ethics. She could've said " sir, let me help you. Let me move this away from sign, don't want you or wife get hurt"... There's no need to scold your customers Ace people. I really don't think you can afford it with all your competition in town. read more

I've always felt like Ace was for old people and the box stores were for everyone else but I've found that my feelings misled me and I've missed out. I've been going to Ace as much as possible lately instead of to you-know-where. Although it has the benefits of a chain, it has the feel of a Ma & Pa store. Pros: Very helpful staff. I never have a problem finding someone to help. This is a big one for me. They have a huge variety of custom nuts and bolts and screws-I know this is a weird thing to comment on but it matters sometimes. They carry feed and tack. Cons: They have what I need about 80% of the time. The store is small (which is good) but it is a catch 22 because it is hard for them to stock everything I need. read more

Sorry but new ownership is creepy. New ownership has taken over and they have their employees stalk you while you are walking around like used car salesmen asking you if you need help. Once, twice ok but 4-5 times come on. Leave me alone. Never have the simple things and the store looks like a confused garage sale. I dont know about you guys anymore. DO NOT BUY PAINT from this location. I usually don't post bad reviews because I try to give people the benefit of the doubt, especially in a pandemic. But the guy working in the paint section has absolutely zero clue about paint. They sell Benjamin Moore and we typically love this paint. My husband went into this location wanting to buy paint for our doors. He asked the guy working what was the best paint for doors, eggshell or satin/pearl? He said eggshell. I did some research at home after my husband called because that didn't sound right even though this guy was sure. After looking on the Benjamin Moore website I called my husband telling him their website specifically says Pearl/Satin for doors and that the paint guy has no clue what he's doing and that we are not paying for something that is completely wrong. The manager was on a power trip and told my husband that we couldn't get any more paint if we're not going to pay for the paint that they misguided us to get! They took absolutely NO responsibility for an error they made! My husband left, leaving a cart full of sevother things. This store has the absolute worst customer service and takes zero responsibility for their workers error. So disappointed. read more

Awful. I went here today specifically because I worry Amazon is taking over the world, and I want to support my local businesses. I got some parts, put them in a bag, marked the part number on the bag a la WinCo. Took it to the counter, where I was promptly reprimanded and sent back to parts to add the price. So the price isn't in the system? Lady was a nasty turd. So much for a helpful hardware man or woman. I won't be back. There's apparently no stopping Amazon when this is the kind of customer service you get with the local merchant. read more

Stopped in for three bushels of firewood and I had a $10 off coupon good from Nov 1- Dec 31. I attempted to buy the wood and use the coupon when the cashier said I couldn't use it on a "Sale" item so I offered to pay full price. The sales prices with a rewards card was $5.49 ea. And the reg. Price was $7.49 or so. Once she told me this I offered to buy 2 at reg price so I could use the coupon. The cashier couldn't get it to ring up full price and then the manager, name escapes me, said he will not sell me the firewood at full price and therefore I cannot use the coupon. It changed ownership a while back and this is my third and final stop into this poorly ran operation. I would much rather drive to Lowe's on AZ Blvd or Home Depot on Germann and Gilbert. Too bad because if ran right this place could be a good place for the locals. Oh well... read more

Been in here a dozen times since they opened, at least 3 bad experience with staff. Requested additional tint in a qt. of paint I had bought here...HUGH DEAL!!! Yesterday, accidentally put my card in the reader wrong, very nasty response from the clerk, didn't even offer to bag my purchase. One of the pathetic stores I have ever seen. They quote you one price over the phone and charge you another once the task is done. I went there to get my car key cut. They quoted me 7.50 over the phone as I already had the uncut key. But once the key was cut they charged me 20 and for two keys it was $40. They literally lie through their teeth to get you into the store. Stay away from this store. Wish I could give them zero stars. read more

You send out a flier for the light source LED bulbs;: with an attached 10$ off card, but when you get to the store you find out you cannot use the card as it is only for regular priced items. Your marketing people might think this was a great idea to get people in the store, but all it did was re-enforce the fact that I should go to Walmart first. I have tried to be a loyal customer for years to support the local hardware store concept such as Ace, but when you resort to marketing strategies such as this; such as what would be found in a used car lot, you just create former ACE customers.
