(You know, I'm not a dentist, and I am not seeking a second opinion.) She seems fairly conservative in what she recommends for my teeth and gums. And what she recommends, works. So I trust her professional judgment. Just had three cavities filled yesterday - not a big deal and no pain today. Or last night. Maybe four years ago, can't recall, another dentist, Shiyu Wang, DDS, did a root canal here in this same office, and while he was doing it, I .... fell asleep. Yeah. That has to be a good sign. And no, I was not drugged up at the time. This is a tiny office with views all over East Oakland, because you are up on the fifth floor. Old-fashioned and charming med/dental office building with free off-street parking.

They gave friendly call reminders 24 hours in advance about your appointment. They provided comprehensive receipts with no hidden fees. The staff even build a relationship with you and it doesn't feel as transactional. I highly recommend this place for Invisalign treatment!

She was miserable, and it was clear she had a serious infection in her tooth and surrounding areas from just Googling her symptoms at home. Most workers at the office were pretty nice, but Dr. Khamsi made this a horrifically traumatic visit. He was incredibly patronizing and unkind, and blamed her for the state of her teeth when she was already terrified and in immense pain. After shaming her and verbally abusing her, he sent her home sobbing with antibiotics and a referral for a root canal (the one bare minimum helpful thing he did) and prescription Ibuprofen (which I thought was ridiculous). When she asked about when she might be able to get the necessary procedures, he shamed her further and said she'd be lucky to get it done anytime soon. My best friend still spent the rest of the night in immense pain, unable to drink or eat, not knowing when she could receive any kind of treatment. The next morning, she was having trouble swallowing and breathing, so we had to go to the EMERGENCY ROOM. She was then admitted to the hospital for multiple days for observation and a potential surgical procedure based on the severity of the infection in her mouth and throat. From reading through other reviews, I see that Dr. Khamsi has repeatedly provided subpar treatment and treated patients terribly by invalidating them, ignoring them, and shaming them. Do not go to this dentist. We all know it can be hard to get a good low cost dentist but that does not mean anyone should ever be verbally abused at the dentist or in any emergency situation. There is no reason for a medical professional to behave this way. I hope something can be done so that other people in vulnerable painful situations do not go through the horrors that he put my friend through.

Everyone played their role efficiently and they most certainly do not beat around the bush. I have been trying to find a honest dentist for a while and this place did not disappoint. I chipped my tooth and the doctor thoroughly explained the situation to me where it will require a crown instead of temporarily patching it up and having it chip off easily. Instead of going straight into business, they wanted to contact my insurance first to see how much my insurance would cover and discuss what the costs are before moving forward. I 100% appreciate their transparency. Another bonus is their great view of Oakland while you clean your teeth on the 12th floor. You also don't need to worry about parking as they will comp that when you tell them where you parked on the street (zone number by the pay machine) and license plate number. Overall, I don't think I need to find another dentist as long as I'm in Oakland now. Bonus: I love the cool collection of collectibles they have in their office.

It's common to leave an office with a $5-7k treatment plan., but was the work necessary or is the dentist trying to pay off his new Tesla? Why would anyone want that sort of dentist? I referred all my friends and family to him and they still continue to see him. Quality work and a Doctor you can trust. He takes his time and listens to your concerns.
