Second straight disappointing visit to RumFish Grill. Not only have they started to charge for parking ($10 even with a dinner reservation), both their service and food have gone downhill. While the crab dip is still amazing, the filet mignon was average, the lobster mac'n'cheese was served with much of the lobster in a shell that was difficult to disengage, and they've eliminated some of their most unique cocktails. And service has definitely dipped. Our server took our drink order for the entree and we didn't see him again for almost 15 minutes. After most of us had finished our entrees. And the delay between delivering the check and returning to pick up the credit card was very long as well -- and then we had to wait another 5 minutes to tell him he hadn't given us a pen to sign the check. We used to love this place, but it will be a while before we try again. read more

Food had no flavor. Only one vegetarian option on menu lists " Grilled Cauliflower Steak" It looks like a 1/2 head of cauliflower steamed. Again no flavor. Coconut rice was overcooked and mushy with no coconut flavor whatsoever. Trout was like getting 2 large balls of a little fish & majority of fried tempura . Would def not recommend this restaurant just bc it was shown on " Tanked" . It's a shame the restaurant has pretty fish tanks but food totally not worth it. Don't waste your money people. We stayed at the Rumfish Resort so we wanted to try the restaurant on the property. We are so happy that we came despite some reviews. We came twice with the kids! The firecracker shrimp was a favorite! Spicy and creamy. The calamari was a favorite with the kids. The warm ciabatta bread that was served before dinner hit the spot. Both nights we had the chicken bucatini dish! Definitely recommend. Kids enjoyed jr burgers with curly fries. We left full and with leftovers. Amazing atmosphere immediately when you walk into RumFish Grill. You're greeted by lovely people and then led into a beautiful room with a large fish tank on the wall. A pretty unique view for a restaurant.. definitely unexpected. The service was great! Our server, (Nick) was especially helpful, and was able to supply our needs relatively quickly. Once we ordered, we got our food within 10 minutes and it was incredibly delicious! Their steaks were phenomenally seasoned, and their drinks were good as well. I got a virgin strawberry daiquiri and it was very refreshing.... The Good: atmosphere is one of the best I've been to, as well as the A+ service and quality of the employees. The BAD: I've been to many restaurants throughout my travels and also can identify grocery store quality food. For the dollar amount being asked for the food they offer unfortunately these food came from Costco. I mean ALL of it meat, crab-cakes, "JUMBO shrimp" which was Publix size and prepackaged mahi mahi. When you arrive you are charged $10 to park. No validating any ticket. That was a little turn off but, ok. Then , you arrive at the front desk and they are now no cash. Card only! Yet, they have a third party atm in the hallway lol everything we ordered was fishy and not good. We ordered the following Florida Snapper ceriche - this is served with bread but they will give you chips. (For those of us with Celia). This is delicious! Charred Octopus - this is probably one of the best thing on the menu. The cerviche was pretty close tie. Grilled Gulf Shrimp - the shrimp were incredible but it came on cous cous, which were delicious but ending up making me terribly sick -- because it's gluten. Charred Octopus - this was so good we had it again. Steamed mussels and clams - it was ok. It needed butter and parsley. Blue Crab Dip - this was fantastic! It was full of flavor! The crab was sweet and succulent. It was cheesy and delicious. It was a little of the salty side but it was so good! This is my new favorite item on their menu. Their mixed drinks were good too. Restaurant is at the resort we're staying at and luckily got the advice to make reservations when we booked our trip about a month prior. Earliest time available was 7:15 but that was actually perfect for us. We were seated right in front of the large fish tank and that was pretty cool. Menus lit up when opened... every dimly lit restaurant should have these menus! Server was ok- very low speaking in a loud restaurant with kids and large groups around us. For drinks, I got a cucumber vodka gimlet - which was good. Husband got a rum flight. It was actually a great price of 4 decent size shots (?doubled). After he had 2, the waiter did suggest a mixer- so he got a coke to finis off the other 2 We weren't real hungry so we decided not to get appetizers. Not sure if the servers forgot, but they did bring out bread and butter after our meals were brought out. Glad they did because the bread was so fresh! I got the mahi mahi and it was cooked perfectly. The coconut rice and pineapple salsa complimented it nicely and added enough to make it a filling dinner. My husband got the Florida pompano. We've never had that fish before but it was very good! Dessert we got ice cream to share - salted caramel. Overall, fun experience with the gorgeous, gigantic fish tank. Service was alright. I began with a Mai Thai and my partner had the Fish Tanked. We started with the appetizer special that consisted of half a dozen oysters. Two were spinach and cheese, two were Rockefeller, and the other two had Parmesan cheese. They were all excellent. Two of us also had the Spiced Blue Crab Bisque. It was one of the better Crab Bisques I've had in the area. For mains we had the Seared Verlasso Salmon, Lobster Mac N' Cheese, Chicken Bucatini, & Grilled Skirt Steak which we all ate family style! The salmon was my favorite of all the dishes. The others were all good as well. For the price I feel that the dishes could have been better though. Nothing absolutely wowed me. We came here to celebrate my birthday. The ambiance was great, and I had honestly picked the restaurant solely off of the appeal of fish tanks being inside of the restaurant. However, I was incredibly disappointed with the rest of my experience. Our server was incredibly inattentive and seemed aggravated with us the whole time. She was disrespectful and waited about 20 minutes after we were seated to even introduce herself. We also noticed that the other servers were equally agitated and generally unhappy to be there. One server complained about a table that had just left in front of everybody who had been sitting in the dining area. Our food was alright, but the selection was limited. While you wait to be seated they have aquariums you can view underwater exotic fish, also a hall with facts on the wall and pictures of different fishes. Like a museum Old map of Florida on the wall. We had a corporate event at the Rumfish Resort and our big fancy dinner was at the Rumfish Grill on the premises. We got to sit right in front of the beautiful giant fish tank. The meal portions were large and tasty, I had the filet mignon, the salted, and the key lime pie. All three were excellent, my medium steak was a bit raw for my taste but it went down just fine. The key lime pie gets a second mention here as it was first rate and delicious. We had a very large group so service times were likely longer than typical for guests so they get high marks all around. Lovely ambience with the giant tank. We read the rave reviews and thought it was a "must eat" place. What a disappointment. The hostess seemed annoyed that she had to seat us. Our server however was warm and cheerful. The food itself was seriously pathetic. Our appetizer of ceviche was good but the onions were overwhelming. The pompano was just ok. The rib-eye required a lot of sawing effort to cut and the bland flaccid boiled asparagus should have been served with a side of Cialis. Do NOT recommend - over $200 for two people including tip . Came here for Happy Hour. No complaints there. 1/2 off bar menu and 1/2 price tap beer, wines and well drinks. Staff was outstanding, especially Maddie. My big gripe is having to pay $10 for parking. There is no shortage of parking spots, it's just another revenue grab. Though I like this place, (food and service) I don't think I'll be back due to the parking policy. After looking at the menu, I was surprised by how pricey the seafood entrees were compared to other restaurants I had visited. I finally decided on the Steamed Mussels and Clams, which arrived relatively quickly. However, the dish itself wasn't overly impressive. There were a few of each type of shellfish and the broth/soup was too salty to finish. It's definitely a small plate; I felt like I hadn't eaten much. My dish, crusted Trout, I had difficulty cutting through the crust, not to mention, my potatoes were served cold. Two other members of my family had to return their dinners due to an overwhelming fishy smell. During the evening I became ill , I just didn't have an easy feeling about the trout dish, it was served in a ball style , instead of how a normal piece of fish is served. strange . The concept is amazing. The tank is beautiful. The staff is awful. The food is only so so. The price was ridiculous. We made our reservations 3 months in advance so we could sit by the tank. As we get there, we are told that those tables are reserved for large parties only (a heads up would have been nice) and the as we ate we watched 3 empty tables sit open and a couple that walked in was able to sit at one without reservations. As we paid for our meal, I asked if the tables were sitting empty, why we couldn't have moved closer to the tank and was told that is not how we do things. All in all the restaurant and the resort are super disappointing. More local family fun less luxury resort. Not what I'd call a villa, and don't even get me started in the fact that they tried to sell us a time share the second we checked in!!! Thank god for bartenders Barbara and Levi!!
