Came again to RumFish because our last visit was so great. NOT THIS TIME! Our glasses on the table were dirty.We ordered the Sirloin with potatoes and asparagus and no steak knife was given. We sat waiting for a server to walk by and waited awhile. The steak was over done, the potatoes were cold and we LITERALLY had to ask for a napkin, extra plate, more bread and water. I wish I could give this place a five because the bartenders were awesome. We started with calamari for an appetizer and I am glad we stopped there. The calamari was not worth the $16 price. It was greasy, chewy and thin. Literally the calamari looked like thin onion rings. read more

I have been to the rum fish since i was in Panama City Beach years back; first time in the St. Pete hotel and while expensive, it was quite excellent. I think the tank need be more visible to all as my wife only noticed when she took my daughter to the rest room. Cool difference is that you can buy a swim in the tank, but you must stay at snorkel level. Our focus was on the food though as we were just digging in. When you get steak, lobster, mushrooms, chicken, mixed drinks in front...all else falls away. Be prepared to pay...but that is what resorts and vacations can be. The service was so fast and smooth I didn't even realize as I was digging in. The food was fresh, no smudges on dishes, no sticky tables, clean floors and the noise level was fun but family was acceptable. read more

Arrived for our 5 pm reservation and found out we had to pay to park - $10 and not valet. Ordered our meals and they were underwhelming- the pompano dish was sparse and had little flavor and skin was uncharred. I love Caribbean lobster so ordered the lobster Mac and cheese- unfortunately, the lobster was overcooked and tough. The service and atmosphere at RumFish Grill were truly excellent--friendly staff and a great environment to enjoy a meal. Unfortunately, the food didn't quite live up to expectations. Much of it seemed previously frozen and lacked the fresh flavor you'd hope for, especially given the higher price point. With the cost, you would expect higher quality and fresher ingredients. I really wish more restaurants like this would support local seafood--it would make a huge difference in both taste and value. read more

This restaurant recently started adding a $10 parking charge to attend their restaurant. Since the restaurant is located on the beach, there is no where else to park. I find this to be a $10 cover charge to spend two hours in their restaurant paying for what is now an overpriced meal and experience. They must have enough walk up or hotel based business that they want to discourage off island customers with overcharging on parking. Went from zero charge for many years to $10. The parking attendant salary must be expensive. Food is good as always, but we noticed the overall price of the meal as much higher than we recall and too high for off season. We will see how they last off season without locals participating in their restaurant. Good thing there are 100's of other great restaurants in St Petersburg that don't charge a cover. read more

The large fish tank is the eye grabber and makes your experience worth it. We got lucky and a table sitting right in front of the tank opened and we were able to be seated there instead. They occasionally have divers go in and can even have a welcome message for special events or guests. The ambiance itself is top tier however the food was very disappointing. The side order of truffle Mac and cheese was probably the best thing my friend and I ordered. The dessert made up for what the meal lacked! The apple bread pudding was to die for! I'm only giving it this low because of the cost for what you get. In some ways, it's unfair because we never went for a meal item because we were unimpressed with our starters. I had the heirloom tomato salad ($13.75)which only had 3 thin slices of possibly very ripe heirloom tomatoes; so in all fairness, shouldn't be called an heirloom tomato salad. The blue cheese was delicious and perfect quantity and vinaigrette was great. The biggest compliment I can give is to our server, Madison because it normally comes with arugula and I don't like it, so she was able to swap it for romaine for me. Even the rolls were lackluster. My husband had crab bisque ($11.75) and that was just meh...not particularly flavorful as well as the blue crab dip ($19.75). I was really looking forward to it, but it was just a thin cream with some spinach in it and and bread crumbs on top. No flavor or crab detected. We didn't finish it, so I suppose it could've been in it somewhere. The best thing in the place was the popular fish tank which there's nothing to tell you what's in the tank, but it's nice to look at and we were lucky enough to sit next to it. read more

I am from out of state. I came late Monday and was ignored until I forced issue as I wanted to eat after long day of travel. I came again Tuesday and waited 15 minutes and no one even acknowledged me so I left. I gave them another chance on Wednesday evening and received outstanding service. Food was great both Monday and Wednesday. Note to Management...your female gender help sucked on Monday/Tuesday and your male gender help rocked it on Wednesday. TOURIST TRAP RESTAURANT . A very dissatisfying and disappointing experience. Save your time and money, go out to eat elsewhere. I visited Rum Fish with a friend while staying in the St. Pete area. We wanted to come here after seeing they had an aquarium in the restaurant, firstly unless you're one of the 6 tables at the class you're not really near the aquarium at all. My friend and I started with drinks, an espresso martini and dirty martini, the espresso was good, the dirty wasn't strong at all, odd thing to say but no bite at all could barely taste any liquor. We got the calamari to start, the bang bang sauce was good but the calamari itself was heavily battered, i'd compare it to a mcdonald's chicken nugget, not how i like my calamari personally. For our main dish we got the Jerk Chicken and Spicy seafood linguine. The jerk chicken came out cold and had no flavor at all, it lacked any flavor of jerk seasoning, very bland. The linguine as well has no flavor and the paste could have probably been cooked a few more minutes as it was a little tough. Both dishes had no flavor not even a hint of salt or pepper. We ended up sending both dishes back and paid for just the app and drinks. I have never sent food back before as I have worked in restaurants for 5 years but this food was absolutely terrible and we only did it because both dishes were $30+. Out waiter was very kind and we still tipped him 25% of what the bill would have been had we paid for the food as he was very generous to remove the food from the bill without hesitation. I will not be returning here and would never recommend this restaurant to anyone. Save your time and money, yes it's cool they have an aquarium but a Rainforest Cafe has better food and a better experience. I also never leave reviews but after the abomination of food we experienced I had to share for others to be aware. I hope something can be changed in the kitchen because location wise they have potential but the menu is small and the food has no flavor. read more

We are locals and have been here a few times before. We went for Thanksgiving dinner and the food and atmosphere didn't disappoint. I had the halibut special which was delicious. As a plus, they no longer have the $10 parking fee. That was a turn-off in the past. There seemed to be a communication glitch as I had to remind the server that Florida residents were given 25% off their dinner. He took care of it quickly. We also miss the oysters Rockefeller and Ahi Tuna on the menu. Hence, the four stars. But other than that I highly recommend this restaurant. And look forward to my next meal there. read more

Fish tank was cool. Very expensive and underwhelming food. Had a party of 13 and ordered two appetizers, 10 entrees, and 3 kids meals, plus two bottles of wine and drinks. The calamari was chunks, not rings, and not very flavorful. 3 people ordered the $42 blackened mahi mahi and shrimp and the fish was not at all blackened - it was grilled with light seasoning. The coconut rice was bland too. The lobster mac and cheese had only a sprinkle of cheese on top and sat in a broth. The lobster was tough and stringy. When I first walked in and was seated at a booth with my family, I thought the place had a casual, chain-restaurant vibe - like a Houlihan's with an aquarium wall. But I was mistaken to judge so quickly. The food and wine was impressive and tasty. I'm vegetarian and ordered the cauliflower steaks and truly these were the best cauliflower steaks I've ever had - the tomato chutney really made the dish. But my parents and sister who ordered seafood and steak described everything as fresh, flavorful and tender. My dad raved about the ceviche, and the gulf shrimp skewered on a Rosemary sprig. You are bound to have a not so pleasant dining experience. I wanted to check this place out because of the aquarium. It is in a touristy area, pretty much right at the beach. And yes, the aquarium is pretty cool, but that's about it. The food was really not good. The potatoes were way overcooked, had no taste, in fact, were more like cardboard. I had a fish that was not too tasty. The service was not the best. Either, didn't get any napkins, took forever to get orders in and was just not all that pleasant. I wish I had pictures but I was very hungry and demolished everything the minute it hit the table without a second thought. We ate out by the bar, which has a different menu than inside, but we wanted something casual and were craving a grouper sandwich. This was one of the best grouper sandwiches I've had in a long time. The bun perfectly toasted, the fish beautifully cooked and wonderfully flaky and flavorful (with a bit of blackening seasoning), and a homemade tartar sauce to top it all off. I chose the sweet potato steak fries as my side and am so glad I did because they were the best sweet potato fries I've ever had. They came with a light dusting of cinnamon sugar on top to make them ever better. We happened to be there for happy hour so we ordered the za'tar dusted calamari since it was half off. Again, some of the best calamari I've had. At first I didn't know what to think because it wasn't super crispy, but once I kept eating it I realized it had just the right amount of breading and seasoning to give so much flavor, and the pieces were thick and tender, to really let the fish shine. It came with two dipping sauces that both complimented the calamari nicely. The only reason I docked a star is because the service was awful. We were the only ones in the outside bar area and yet our waitress was never around. We saw her hanging out gossiping by the bar with the other workers but never around when we needed something. When she did come by, she wasn't friendly and gave an "I don't care" attitude that was quite a put off. Luckily the food was amazing and let me forget about the bad service. Been here a few times. I will say the fish tank is super cool and keeps the kids entertained. The food is pretty good. This time I have the grilled octopus and it was really good. Kids had grouper fingers and they loved it. The only issue I've had twice in a row is the service is slow, good service but just slow. So don't expect to be in and out. read more

We first experienced RumFish soon after it initially opened and it was great. It seems like things have gone downhill. While the service and atmosphere were great, as former Floridians, we were disappointed in the food quality. My wife had the Mahi, it was a small piece with little flavor and had over cook shrimp on top for $42. By comparison, the tacos from the Gulfside Grill in the RumFish Hotel were outstanding! and I think they were only $14. I had the Everything Crusted Ahi Tuna, and while it was good the two slices I got should have been cut in half, and seared that way. So imagine two slices about 3/4 size of an Iphone12 and the edges of that were seared with the crust. So, the "fish to crust" ratio was off in my opinion. It was "good" but could have been better. I think over all for the price, there are better options on the beach for some good local seafood. read more
