We love this laid back bar/ restaurant! The folks are folksy... Wednesdays are open mic night and there's a nice mixture of talent singing and playing. The service is responsive earlier in the evening, but as it gets crowded, it declined a bit.. The drinks during happy hour are $3.00 and they're strong! Positives first....Service was good. Food was very good. 2 of us ordered the burger sliders special and felt they were a little well done for our preference, but neither asked for them to be cooked medium and meat was still tasty. The mahi sandwich special was good and the pork chimichanga was enough for 2 people! Between the table we had 6 of the $4 Saturday Sangria specials. They were decent size and very good. Last, the homemade key lime pie with homemade whipped topping was awesome! Negative.... just one but it is a HUGE one to us! 3 of us ordered off of the specials board (see below). Nowhere on the menu or the specials board does it say the prices listed are based on cash payment!! When we asked for checks, our server brought a tablet and verified what each ordered (2 tickets, 1 table). I noticed the special I ordered was $15.75 instead of $15 and wife's was $16.80 rather than $16.00. When I inquired, server said it must include taxes on each item. The answer seemed acceptable at the time so I said OK. AT THAT TIME I gave her the card to pay. She then swiped it on tablet and put both in front of me. The screen I was looking at was the amount of tip and signature. I asked for a receipt and server said she would print one in the back. Process repeated for other people at the table. I then went to the restroom and passed the server coming with my receipt. Upon looking at it I saw that on top the higher priced charges were listed AND TAXES ALSO SHOWED BELOW! I asked to speak to the manager and the owner came to discuss with me. Her answer was that using a credit/debit card to pay triggers the higher costs. If I had paid cash, the cost is as written on the board. I pointed out the special board that showed $15 and $16 and no reference to higher costs and nothing is said on the printed menu. Her answer to that is somewhere in small print on the tablet it shows a total for card use and another for cash payment, which I told her I don't think I ever saw. It certainly wasn't pointed out to us. I also pointed out that we aren't given the tablet to "make a choice" until AFTER the card was swiped by the server, so how could I choose? I feel this is completely underhanded. Whats funny is that the Sangrias all appeared as $4.00 and not higher for card use while all other charges had a premium on them, even my Coke. Just print the higher costs on the menu! It may have made a difference of what we ordered or even if we stayed to eat there. Maybe that is what the owners are afraid of?? One last issue with this--- after getting home and calculating the difference in costs, I figured it is a 5% premium to pay with a card. That is ridiculous. Merchant fees are around 25 - 40 cents a swipe and 2.5% - 3.5% of the total bill charged. In other words, they not only deceptively recover the merchant fees they pay, they also make a profit on it!!!! What started off as a great time turned into a bad experience. We will not go back and certainly will not recommend to any of our friends or you! read more

Another first this past weekend as stopped by the Tiki Bar. Overall, I was surprised by some of the other reviews as we had what I would describe as a much better than expected experience. Entertainment: We saw many of us favorite musicians at the Tiki bar first. A variety of different artists and genres; none that we haven't liked. Service: Our server was great. She checked in on us routinely and was pleasant/friendly. Food: The smoked tuna spread was not what you'd typically expected, for us this was a positive. This dish wasn't what I would classify as a spread as it contained no mayonnaise. Instead it was shredded smoked tuna with a variety of veggies of crackers. The chicken quesadilla was delicious; shredded seasoned chicken, cheese, olives and jalapeños. The rice bowl, wasn't really a bowl and was very tasted. The tofu was blackened which is rare to find and it packed nice flavor. We plan to add Tiki bar into our Gulfport restaurant rotation. read more

Basically, pretty much an outdoor venue. Reasonable drinks, and great music. Tough in the summertime though when it's so doggone hot.

Positives: The entertainment is definitely a thing at this place. There are always bands performing. If you like loud music and entertainment, this place is for you. They also have open mic during the week for local talent to come perform. The service is pretty attentive. Improvements: The food on the other hand needs some Gordon Ramsey help. I'm sorry and I hate being this critical but the taste of the hummus shouldn't be on the menu unless it is plated with a pile of humus with spices and that oil all over it. It tasted like left over tuna from a can. Honestly, I will not be ordering food from here because for me I am a food snob and unless Gordon Ramsey comes to change the menu into something way better, it's not for me. Could it be for you? We ordered Mahi sandwiches, the special of the day, and they served us small pieces of Mahi that were completely raw inside, but looked cooked on the outside. We had to send them back. I had cut my sandwich in half, took a bite, and spit it out. The server took our plates away, and a few minutes later brought back the same food, re-cooked with extra blackened seasoning. The server mixed up my Mahi with my husband's. The fish and bread was just in a pile on the now cold fries. She said sorry about that, and walked away. So, basically, they put food that we had eaten (put in our mouths) back on the grill where they cook every one else's food. Gross and unsanitary! I would never eat there again. I'm debating on calling the health department, but I doubt it would matter. read more

My good friend and I decided to go to the Tiki bar & Grille for lunch. We ordered the poke and a lb of peel & eat shrimp. The poke was decent. Nice helping of it with a tasty wasabi sauce drizzled on top. The shrimp came out about 20 minutes later. I've lived on the Chesapeake bay all my life, and steamed shrimp is part of our lives- the shrimp we were brought were discolored- not the orangish look they are supposed to have. The shells looked old as if they had been cooked, frozen, then cooked again. No color to the shells only a scratchy whitish grey-no kidding. We peeled one, the shell slid off the shrimp, the top layer of skin slid off the shrimp, leaving a mangled and tattered discolored body. We sent it back only to get a batch that were exactly the same. I guess they thought the cup of Old Bay would mask the lack of color & stench of the shrimp. The waitress said, " that's funny, everyone loves them".. well, maybe landlocked people who don't know any better. We decided to order nachos. I mean, you can't f$$& up nachos, right? WRONG. We had a couple bites, and I noticed the chicken was soggy as well as the chips. Not soggy because of the cheese, soggy because of the chicken-juice that puddled on the plate; it was straight up chicken-juice. This was nauseating. When tipped, the juice surged to the side of the plate. Pure gross. The waitress, who was very kind & understanding, let us know that the owners were the ones in the kitchen. We told the waitress they sucked. She relayed the message. A woman came out with attitude and was far from being sincerely apologetic. My friend, who manages a couple of restaurants, told her the food we were served was unacceptable. Her comment to us about the nachos was, "I guess I didn't drain it enough." DRAIN? DRAIN what? Ugh. The canned chicken? She did offer to take it all off our bill, but although it completely sucked, we did order it, and we didn't want to be complete asses. We figured the owners are in the kitchen bc finding help these days is difficult. Until better cooks are hired/food improves, we'll never go there again. read more

Came here on Valentine's Day 2023 with a bunch of single friends to celebrate our "single-ness" on the ultra-commercialized Day of Love. As we were sitting down, our waitress cautioned us that the kitchen was backed up, and to prepare for a 45 to 60 minute wait. (this seems to be commonplace according to other reviews). Our waitress was friendly and fun and drinks came relatively quickly. But the food, as promised, took forever. And when it arrived (in one-meal-at-a-time bursts), mine was mostly cold. I had the Taco Tuesday special, which includes "free" chips and queso if you order 2+ tacos. The queso was so cold, it had begun to harden. If this restaurant could get its kitchen production issue solved, it would probably be ok. Until then, probably won't go back. read more

Cuban my butt!! What a disappointment!!!!! I ordered the Cuban sandwich and it was definitely NOT A CUBAN sandwich. First off, they gave it to me in a hoagie roll. It was not toasted, it was not pressed, nothing! Then the meat they had on there was pitiful. I will be lucky if it even hit an ounce and a half. It was a tiny little bit right in the middle of the sandwich. They couldn't even be bothered for it to cover the bread. Talk about a sorry excuse for a sandwich, a Cuban no less! I always find the service to be friendly and usually efficient. The food is AMAZING!! The ahi tacos are the best you've ever had! I work north of Tamp sometimes and travel an hour just to come get a taco. They sometimes have a special of dates stuffed with goat cheese, wrapped in prosciutto. To die for!! Was riding past this place on bikes with my mother and we were actually heading to a different restaurant but we saw "3 dollar margaritas, margarita Monday" and made a sharp U turn. Good advertising for sure pulled us right in! I ordered the hummus and pita toast and the homemade hummus is absolutely spectacular. It had so many different flavors going on and made a party in my mouth. My mother and her friend had the grouper tacos. They thought it was so good they ordered 2 more! The menu is not extensive and definitely relaxed vacation food for a quick but delicious meal. However we enjoyed all of it. This is definitely a beach vibe bar with good people. If you're looking for a bar to wear a fancy suit to and get some expensive meal this ain't it. But if you want a good beach vibe with good music, food, and a positive ambiance I highly recommend the the tiki bar. I play volleyball frequently as well as a lot of my friends. I have had good experiences with Selena as our server. But recently the service has been terrible. These servers need to serve guests specially when we sat 40 minutes before closing time. In town for a day as we get tired of hanging in our hometown. Parked in the free parking spaces around the corner and took a walk. It was a Monday afternoon and many places in town are closed, not here. Walked up, masked up and sat on the eastern most seating area under the roof. Immediately ordered 2 Margaritas because it was "Margarita Monday" for $3 each. Also ordered some freshly made pico and chips for $5 happy hour special. Wow, the pico was great. The margaritas had a bit too much sweet and sour in them and not quite enough salt but that is easily changed depending on the bartender. We had a great time and will definitely be back. It is clean and open inside and spacious. Plenty of areas to choose from. Also an outdoor patio area if you so choose. Staff were great and very friendly. Gotta love an $11 tab. Go here!
