These guys are the best!! I have had them replace counters and tops in my bathroom and kitchen. They even made tables for me for my office. Always totally professional, did what they said in an agreed timeframe and answered all my questions. My wife is pretty picky regarding stone and they were able to accommodate her wishes when we selected the stone for the house as she wanted a certain "look" LOL. We just had our quartz countertops made and installed by this company. 1. One piece was cut wrong-no big deal , but inconvenience 2. The seam was very visible and raised , they sent out a second crew and no fix " it looks great" When a contractor came into our house they thought the counter had not been skimmed. Wrong they already skimmed it. 3 . Third person comes out , looks at it and says" seams are always visible and you will always feel it". Unacceptable to us, but the rep skimmed about a foot and called it good. It's still rough and you can feel and see the seam. Never would we hire this company. read more

Recently went through Lowes for new countertops and was connected with this outfit for the project; beyond incompetent. Logistical coordination through the PM was very good, but the nuts and bolts of performing actual work were a joke. I have a small simple kitchen, and the individual performing my template spent half of the time speaking with someone on the phone about how to use the software, and the other half of the time speaking with someone about problems at another job. I was presented a layout option showing the veins of my countertop & backsplash aligned, then they were installed and veins were offset by 2 inches -making the whole thing look like a colossal mistake. Not only that, but the backsplash wasn't measured (or cut) correctly and was 1/4" shy on multiple ends, and one of them was crooked.. very clear a tape measure or level never entered the equation. Sending pictures into my PM, she apologized for the poor & inaccurate work, only to follow up with a call after discussion with her management that "the job was completed appropriately" .. clearly she was muscled into changing her position. Twice I was promised a call from her manager and never received it... I'll likely be filing with BBB and quite frankly, don't even want this group back in my house to rectify their own shoddy work. Beware... an organization is only as good as the individuals running it, and how this place stays in business is beyond me. read more

I'd highly recommend Rumford. We had them do our kitchen counters. They let us borrow sample stones to be sure we liked them in our kitchen and lighting. They scheduled a template date and an install date and we worked with them to ensure it worked. They added a date for backsplashes that had to fit between new counter and top counter/window sill because those aren't measured accurately until the counters are installed. They know what they are doing. Measuring is done with lasers and computer. Very accurate. There were great conversations about how we wanted it done - overhangs, sink install, faucet placement, etc. The template measuring took a few hours. A week later the install crew came and they were very professional. We're thrilled with our new counters and thrilled that Rumford was top-notch to work with in every way. read more

Our project started off well. My wife and I made several trips to Bow select a stone and features. Not super convenient, but all good! On a Friday we confirmed that the templating would be done on the following Tuesday at 11:00, and corrected some contact information. I adjusted my schedule to fit the 11:00 appointment. Late Monday afternoon, I got an email confirming that the templating would be done at 8:00 on Tuesday morning (sent to the wrong contact info). I called twice and got no answer. I received a voicemail early Tuesday morning simply telling me that "the schedule changed." Excuse me, but I think I should be considered in scheduling a visit to my home... The templater showed up at 7:45. He was knowledgeable and helpful. We made it work between my teleconferences, and he renewed my enthusiasm for the project! We decided to increase the height of the backsplash by 2-1/4". Then things really went south. I received a change order for $457.69, which included increased charges for templating, fabrication, and installation. I MIGHT have expected some increase for the cost of the additional stone, although I expect that the additional 2-1/4" strip was bound for their scrap yard. I can't imagine that Rumford's cost increased one iota based on my changes. The cost of templating, fabrication and installation certainly didn't increase. In discussing this concern, several representatives were inflexible and curt. Charging extra for items not associated with my changes is apparently their standard operating procedure. I feel that Rumford Stone took advantage of my position (my kitchen is currently disassembled, doing dishes in the bathtub, etc...) in hitting me with an unreasonable up charge. Not to mention the attitude. I do NOT recommend doing business with Rumford Stone, and I will be filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. read more

If you are looking into getting counters from Rumford Stone or even going through Lowe's I highly suggest you read this. I first want to make it known that I am writing this after three weeks of being dismissed. During this three week period I have reached out in some form on a daily basis. This all started after many trips to my local Lowe's searching for granite countertops. This was a very exciting upgrade for us and after many conversations we decided to go for it! The initial process at Lowe's was very simple. Due to the length of our counters we knew we'd need something custom and after explaining our vision to the sales woman our order was paid for and sent out to rumford Stone. Since there is truly nothing that went right in this entire process I am going to focus on the biggest issues. Communication and expectations were little to none. Our choice of stone which was not on back order when we purchased it became backordered. For template we were not advised to be there so we could answer multiple questions which ultimately caused a terrible looking countertop. There was no detail spoken to us. We trusted in the professionals and expected that they'd install in our home what they'd install in their own - shouldn't have assumed that! Long story short, we were scheduled for installed and told they'd let us know a time a few days prior. We got the template and received an email asking to sign a stone waiver. This waiver said DO NOT SIGN so we questioned it. We were told if we wanted to come preview our Stone we could at 7am the next morning 40 minutes away from where we live. Since that didn't work in such short notice we requested an emailed photo. we then signed the waiver. We did recently find out that uppers at RS highly suggest clients come in and not sign the form - had we not questioned the form we would have never know this was even an option. Time went by and the night before install we still hadn't gotten a phone call. We searched our email and found a email from that day stating a time.... just an example of the lack of actual communication. Once again we were not at install since we weren't told we needed to be. We had someone in the home to let them in and stay during install. One of the installers was very rude when something on our "to do before they come" list wasn't done.... which was because we spoke to the woman organizing all of this at RS and asked what that specific bullet meant and we were told to disregard and they'd do it when they got there. Now here's where I'm dumbfounded... we came home so see a seam in the middle of the primary area of counter space. By that I mean off to the right of the sink where we do all of our hosting counter top wise, there's a mismatched seam and an eye sore. We were very clear that we wanted that one piece when we initially ordered these counters. After checking with many people with granite everyone agreed this was unnaceptable and looked terrible and cheap! I emailed the manager directly and was ignored the first day despite her being in the office. After going in circles for over a week and a half we got no where. During this entire time (2 weeks from template to install and then up to today which would make 5 weeks we have had no sink or dishwasher) we were told not to put our sink in yet until this is resolved by RS. Naturally, 2 weeks after the install we had a 30 person Friendsgiving at my home and knowing that RS still didn't seem to care or make us a priority. Instead, after almost two weeks they told us there's nothing we can do and we should contact Lowe's. Well, here I am about 10 days later with no sink and no resolution. RS will not gives Lowe's the information or updates they need to know how to move forward. It is now 4 days before actual thanksgiving where more people will be spending time at my sinkless, dishwasherless kitchen with expensive granite that looks like leftovers. I am very disappointed in RS. Between their lack of quality standards and character throughout this entire process which is why we do not recommend Rumford Stone - ever. read more

Awful. They were a nightmare from day 1. They couldn't get my profile correct until the 5th time for one area. They had to cut my wall on one side of my kitchen to fit the countertop in after it was templated. They cut the size too small for my cooktop and my stone slab backsplash was left with a big gap all the way across 12 feet under my stone shelf and they refused to not only refund the stone wall but their solution was to caulk it. Ridiculous. The fact remains this will never be as I wanted. They refuse to reimburse me for the stone wall but they did for the shelf which was the cheapest of course. I filed a complaint against them with BBB and they still refused with their own story plot which never though to mention they not only won't take any responsibility for their mistake, they completely ignore their own company warranty. They are the WORST stone company and the employees I've ever encountered in my life. Don't work with them, there are plenty of other stone companies around that are much better. Already 3 COMPLAINTS have been FILED against them just this past year with BBB!!! read more

We had done a complete kitchen renovation 1 year ago and had dealth with Rumford Stone that were hired out by Lowes to put our counters in. They initially cut the wrong holes for our faucet. They wanted us to cut out just the back part of the sink area and put another piece of stone in to correct their mistake, which first would leave multiple more seems and wouldn't be as sturdy as initial. They then had to order another piece of granite.... which they were not happy doing. This delayed our project approximately 8 months. Then from there everything went downhill. they cut backsplashes wrong, seem color was completely off, they left our porch a mess after cutting the granite on it, granite dust everywhere then in the house. Ran over our stonewall with their truck. Through all this the owner who I continued to ask to meet with, finally met at the very end of the project. Until this he was always out of town. We do many renovations and rehab houses and have never encountered a company like this in the past. We own a business as well and the customer service and attention from the owner was extremely disappointing. Unfortunately we like Lowes but they only use Rumford Stone and we have had to go elsewhere for counters for further projects. read more

Recently did a full kitchen remodel. They came to do the countertop template and took the new sink back with them so they could cut the hole for the sink accurately. When it came time to install the new quartz countertop the sink did not fit. The hole was too big. Instead of using the sink we purchased that they took with them to cut the quartz, they cut it based on a cut they did recently for a similar sink. They never apologized nor did they offer to cut another piece of quartz. Instead they went on the hunt for a sink that would fit the hole they cut. Yes, seems backwards to me too. I was forced to change the sink I had originally chosen to one that got the hole they cut. The sink I have is similar but deeper and the divider between the two basins is higher. Not what I had chosen. I gave them 2 stars instead of 1 because the quartz is beautiful and the pieces that did not include a sink hole were cut correctly. read more

So after calling Rumford Stone 4 times over the course of 5 months, they finally said they would send someone out today at 8am to look at our countertops that were installed just about a year ago. They were never sealed and are starting to show very weird staining and crazing marks. Of course they blame me. When I asked what they sealed them with - they could not tell me When I asked when they sealed them - they could not tell me All they kept saying is the marble is VERY delicate and will stain and craze and needs to be constantly sealed. Yeah but you never sealed them and you cannot tell me what to seal them with. Three times you were going to email me some information - still nothing. Well as I figured, it is now 9:00am and nobody is here, no call, no nothing. What is wrong with customer service these days. Where is common decency when a business makes an error? Nobody wants to take responsibility. Thank you Rumford Stone for being the typical (we've done nothing wrong) business who is just out to make the almighty $ and doesn't give a crap about their customers once the job is done. read more

No customer service!!! I visited the location in Pembroke a couple weeks ago and spent some time with the saleswoman who at that time was helpful. I emailed my counter measurements to her the next day as suggested, to get an estimation of project cost. No response! So I waited approx a week and then called and left a voice mail to her direct line. No response! Two days later I called in the morning, left another voice mail. No response! Called back the same day and asked the person answering the phone if this particular saleswoman was working. I was told she was indeed at work that day and I then left her another voice message asking politely to return my call as I was anxiously interested in moving forward with my project but needed to have a job estimate. Still no response!! It has been 2 1/2 weeks since my visit to the store. They may do great work but given that I can't even get a response from them, I will never know. read more
