Rumi Antiques has been here for almost 2 months. To enter the shop, you are on security camera and buzzed inside due to high security concerns. COVID Face mask necessary. Limited metered street parking or the city parking structure across the street for an hour gratis! Interestingly, 'RUMI' the name in several countries, means amazing and beautiful. Since the shop registered owner is middle eastern, the name RUMI, is actually shorthand in Farsi and means Rome or West, and was most likely after the internationally known poet: Jalal ad-Din Muhammad Rumi, was born in 1207. Most his poetry was written in Persian, and has world wide appreciation and long since influenced artists and thinkers with his insightful mystical poetry and prose. RUMI the poet and his work or words about Love, Passion, Nature, God is enlightening. I recently met with Allen Rumi with regards to selling him a diamond ring. He agreed to the purchase price in-person and then in a follow-up conversation the Tuesday after Labor Day. I made my second trip to the store on Tuesday at a pre-arranged time to finalize the transaction. He said he would have the cash available to purchase the ring. The week before he asked that I give him the ring and accept a check as payment. I respectfully declined his offer. Upon my visit to the store on Tuesday at noon, I experienced one excuse after another, and then some more excuses. I wasted time visiting the store twice, sending and receiving several text messages and phone conversations directly with Allen Rumi. Although I presented him with the GIA Certificate and withstood a twenty minute examination of the diamond that he performed (without removing the stone from the setting), PLUS texting photos of the ring to another associate of his, I finally discovered why his word was not honored... He claimed the person that was going to buy the diamond was in the hospital and could not bring the money to Allen Rumi at noon. He then proceeded to show me a photo, on his phone, of a hospital bed. I asked where he banked and offered to go with him to the bank to secure the cash or a cashier's check. He declined that offer as well. I paid to park twice and wasted my time. They have been open for about three months and my experience with Allen Rumi was unpleasant to say the least. Definetely not a good way to start doing business.
