This place sits in downtown Hudson in an old downtown building. They have a great area for sitting outside as well. The place has plenty of seating with a full bar. The bar has limited seating. The inside is nice and clean. Our waitress was very attentive. They had Daily specials that included corned beef sandwich, surf and turf and rainbow trout. Their menu also has a lot to offer. We ordered burgers. Over all the muffuletta burger was decent. The burger was a bit dry and over cooked. Very greasy. The spicy Mayo is indeed spicy which I liked. The bbq bacon burger was good but the burger was dry and over cooked. The onion rings were great and the corn chowder was excellent. I would return and try other menu items for sure. read more

We drove 3 hours to swim at the Lake Hudson Rec Area and get dinner, and had found all these good reviews on Yelp for Rumors. The restaurant was on the top of our list in an area with very few restaurants with anything other than burgers, and also open on Sunday. It was our first time in that area of the state. We wanted to do pickup, and thought to get a pickup menu (they do say they offer pickup) and read it outside, then order. Neither of us can dine-in, due to being extremely high risk for COVID-19, and I'm a health care provider still dealing with Post-Covid syndrome. The entry is on the side through a patio, and tells you right away you'll be entering somewhere unlike any other: at the entrance are squash and tomato plants full of fruit. The patio lives up to that promise, as a garden of aristry filled with vegetables and edible flowers. Tomatoes, squash, peppers, all in decorative pots with handmade trellises, all around the patio. There were about 10 umbrella tables with comfy chairs, and beautiful old brick floors. The patio was closed for Sunday, I think, as there were no diners. As it turned out, is isn't easy to *get* information about anything at all at Rumors, so we didn't bother to ask if the patio was open or closed. I went in to see about carryout menus. There were only 2 tables with people eating. There were two waitstaff about. No one greeted me, but one did walk away as I started to ask her about a takeout menu. I walked up to the bar where another person - bartender at an empty bar? - was, and she didn't ask me if I wanted anything either. So I asked about the takeout menu. She said they didn't have one and I couldn't take the hard cover out of the restaurant. When I told her my husband didn't know what he wanted and asked if I could take it and bring it back to order, she reluctantly agreed. I went out with the menu, looked it while walking back to the car, and realized I might be at the wrong restaurant. I hadn't had time to study the small photo (that wouldn't enlarge) on their "website " listed on other review sites (a FB page), but this was all burgers and such, nothing interesting. So I went right back in and again, no one asked if they could help, nothing, so I found the employee again and asked if there was perhaps a different menu: "there were items I saw on the restaurant's website that aren't here - Mexican/South American dishes?" She said, and I quote, "We don't HAVE a website. We only have a FB page." I told her, yes, a FB page is what's listed as their "website", and that's where I saw other items that aren't burgers. "Oh, that's this list here on the bar" (a standup display in hard plastic) " but you can't order those TOMORROW, they're only available today" (!?!?!?) I asked her about now,, are these available now? It was more than 3 hours prior to closing time. She said yes, so I asked how I would be able to show my husband the menu and she just looked at me like I should leave. Note that I wasn't rude, wasn't loud, wasn't talking down to her or being nasty or demanding. So I said, "So I should go get my phone from the car and take a picture so I can take it back to my husband ? " and she shrugged and walked away. I went back to the car and told my husband, " Well, I looked forward to trying some of those specials all the way here. BUT they don't want our business. McDonalds is the only place in the area open." With it being the only choice except the McHorrids, we decided to both go in and TRY to order rather than me going back and forth. We went in, and there was now just one table with two people eating. The waitstaff I'd asked about the menu twice already wasn't there. There was someone behind the bar cleaning, who gave us nasty looks as we went in. We went to the bar and studied the standing Specials Menu, and she never came over, never said a single word of greeting. Ignored us 1000000% - but the hate was palpible. I've eaten here maybe 3 times and the food is really good. But I tried to go on a recent Friday and showed up at 7, so definitely the busiest time. There was a line and they wouldn't take names. So we left and came back at 8:23 and they said they were closed. ‍ This has happened to us more than once and there's been several times that we go there at what seems like a normal dinner time but they were closed. It's so frustrating because there aren't many choices nearby. read more

Have loved Rumors for years and just now writing a review. This is my 'go to' place for oysters. Always extremely fresh raw, served in the classic way with horseradish, lemon, cocktail sauce and Tabasco. The grilled oysters with garlic and Parmesan cheese are fantastic. Last night we enjoyed the oysters plus the daily special of Beef Stroganoff. Five more stars!!! Try this unique, local owned and very friendly place. read more

Limited hours - Thursday, Friday, Saturday...I'm not sure about Sunday? Food is good and consistent, but a bit expensive. We got 2 salads the other day and it was $21 and some change for takeout - it was just salad greens, feta, toppings, and one small container of dressing. I don't think I would've been as disappointed in the price if it would've had sliced chicken on it or another protein. read more

First impressions cool atmosphere. They had a wait list which is understandable, but too busy for the only two waitresses. Got a table for four & the couple behind us got seated shortly after us (with the other waitress) & right after we got our drinks the ordered appetizers & received them before we could even order our appetizers. This place is in a great building in downtown Hudson- lots of character. Makes for good ambience. We've had a few dinners here and because we live nearby we were hoping to make this restaurant a frequent stop. Unfortunately on our last visit as I was just starting to dig in to my food... I felt something strange with my knife... not food... plastic. A piece of plastic under my food on my plate. I took it out and wiped it off, it was a plastic tag from a loaf of bread or something similar. We showed the waitress and they did apologize. But it just put us off. Very surprising. Great Little place. First it is well done in this old historic building. Nicely remodeled and very clean. Second. The staff servers and owners were very nice and enjoyed their jobs. Ordered take out from here, as we are staying in a cabin in the area. Did not actually go to the restaurant, but just picked up, so can't speak to that. However, the food we got was average at best. My fries were very greasy and soggy. The wrap that I had lacked any flavor. The blue cheese it came with probably tasted the best... So that's not saying a whole lot. Lastly, the cheese bread was very tiny and the cheese was very chunky, not really cheesy with large pools of grease. I would recommend looking elsewhere. read more

I've been in this charming establishment on three different occasions. The first, on the veranda, I ordered the fish tacos for lunch. I was so taken back by how beautiful executed they were.(I chose fried fish). They were set so pretty I had to snap a picture first. Then I took my first bite! It made my taste buds sing!!! The way ge crunch of the batter with the flaky fish that wasn't greasy at all topped with heir amazing coleslaw! I loved the two, I ordered so much. I asked our waitress to send compliments to the chef as well as asking the chef, if we could take 20 to go? He agreed, and we took our family amazing fish tacos for dinner! Highly recommend them!! Second was group meeting/dinner with friends tried their chicken wrap it was good as I feel it could have used a little more ranch dressing, but other than that the chicken was cooked to perfection and greens were fresh and crisp. The third we went in for oysters and dessert. Myself and kids. I wanted to See how they felt about it the food and treats. They loved it! Kids had ate all their desserts and we tried all but the creamer brûlée. Which I will be back to try independently. Overall! I highly recommend the banana bread with Carmel sauce it's to DIE for! As a food critic, I usually only take a few bites then review each dish. But here, I enjoyed the whole dish every time!! I can definitely see me going back! Doesn't matter if you want a great glass of wine, a wonderful meal, or to fill that sweet tooth for dessert. Try them! You won't be let down! I've been going to this restaurant for years. I'm a pescatarian. I eat fish and turkey. They have enough GOOD food choices for me that I keep going back. I usually get the Turkey Artichoke Panini. I have never been disappointed. I opt for the Sweet Potato Fries and they are great. The meal comes with a pickle. I also have had their salads several times. I hate beets, but their salads (which include beets) make them tasty. Another 'regular' for me is the Spinach-Artichoke Dip. Very good! They make the best Bloody Mary and Long Island Ice Tea. They also have local micro-brew beers. They sometimes have Vegetable Soup as a special. This is a MUST HAVE. I have never been disappointed. read more

This place is great. We have been here a couple times over the last couple years. Its a sort of a gastro pub in Hudson. Probably the best restaurant for 20 miles. Very standard fare, sandwiches, salads, appetizers. generally $10 or so. The fish tacos are amazing, definitely worth getting a few of them. Good beer selection, lots of local and semilocal brews. The cupcakes are amazing. She makes a one off recipe, there was wasabi white chocolate with a candied plum center. I have been a long time cupcake afficianado for years. Mollys, Amys, House of cupcakes, I have tried them all. This one is perhaps the best I have ever had. And that is strong praise over the salted carmel cupcake at Mollys. So good I took one home for the next day. The creme brulea, not as big of a fan. I do wish the menu was more expansive, hopefully it will grow with time. If you are in the area or looking to get out of AA this is a great destination to sit outside and have a some great food. read more

Passed through Hudson, MI on a detour from the huge pile up on 94 on our way to Chicago. Looked for a place to eat and came across Rumors. Small town, so expectations were not too high. Definitely surprised. Food was delicious. Was not a typical menu. Everything we ordered tasted great. Our server (KJ) was also very nice. This is a great-looking restaurant in downtown Hudson. Living in Adrian, I went several years before trying this place out because I really never end up finding myself with a reason to go to Hudson ... but I finally got curious enough to make the trip, and now THIS place is my reason. It's beautiful inside and the food is good. You can also get a normal-sized flight of craft beers for $5 ... that's an incredibly good price. The staff can talk knowledgeably about the beer, which is also a big plus. Definitely a "destination restaurant" -- worth a drive even if you don't have any other business in town. read more

Great service, great food, great ambiance! My first time at this establishment and it came highly recommended. It lived up to it's reputation. Just went in for lunch and had some awesome stuffed pepper soup, two tacos, one fish, one smoked chicken. Homemade shells and topped with special sauce and cold slaw. Excellent, and that was just for lunch. Have to recommend their "adult cupcake". Today's offering was lemon cake, lemon filling with a lovely topping. I would have to say, when I started to work in Hudson I was looking forward to a change of taste. This place was a very disappointing facility all the food is overly greasy and completely UN-healthy. Even the UN-healthy food pulled out of a garbage has more flavor then the food i was served. all in all would not recommended it unless your looking for blood clot. read more

Rumors is a great find in the Hudson area! Went with family to celebrate. Indoor/outdoor seating, good food for GREAT prices, a good variety of regional brews on tap (don't come here for 48oz of pbr or bud light- these people appreciate alcohol), 70 whiskies (scotch, bourbon, and much more), and a very friendly casual atmosphere. Dennis behind the bar (maybe the owner) knows what great service looks like, and takes pride in the bar's many offerings, which appear to be hand-selected. He recommended several drinks, all of which were hits. The pesto pizza had great flavor, but was inconsistently covered, as though air bubbles had sprung up in baking and shifted the toppings. Also, our server was young and has some opportunities to develop some more refined skills in terms of service and sales, but her attitude and energy were great. Neither were enough to knock the place down from five stars. We'll definitely be back- hope local Hudsonites come support this business so it'll be here a long time. Recommended! read more

Drove up from Sylvania to have dinner with a group of 4 and my daughter's two year old, a relaxing 45 min trip. Have been here before for lunch which was great, this time for dinner. This is a great casual restaurant with very good selection of fresh appetizers and entrees. BBQ beef brisket with mac and cheese was excellent, moist and smoky. Burgers were huge and cooked to perfection. Dinner salad featured locally grown leaf veggies and herbs. Onion rings are huge and battered perfectly. Great beer selection, good service, pleasant décor. We will be back again. Try it you will like it. read more
