Been there a couple of times in the past and it was always good. Not sure if it was just an off day or if things have changed but yesterday it was not so good. I ordered a perch sandwich for $14.50....I was served a bun with 2 small pieces of perch on it with a little chopped iceburg lettuce scattered about on the plate and a cup of tartar sauce. (not a very good presentation) I also opted for onion rings instead of the "bag of potato chips" for an extra $5.00 they were good but 6 onion rings for $5.00? Seriously, slicing an onion, battering the rings and dropping them in the fryer doesn't have much cost to it. The sauces as served were tasteless, the tartar and my wife had 1000 island with her sandwich..... more than likely they were GFS cheap junk by the looks of things, absolutely no additional benefit to the servings whatsoever. The clam chowder was good although the clams while abundant, were a tad gritty. My wife had the turkey reuben special which wasn't bad but a little light on the protein portion, she opted for fries, I wish I had done the same. Can't beat the atmosphere, just a shame the food has slipped and is comparatively costly for what you get. read more

On the water, sat on the deck. Supposedly we would be in the sun and weren't. (And we aren't vampires so it would have been fine!) Had sangria and a beer- with the chicken kabobs, clam chowder, and perch sampler. Food took a moment- snafu in the kitchen that our waitress figured out and corrected. Chicken and perch on point. Chowder a bit over salty and lemony. Great view. Pleasant on the deck. As we walked back through the restaurant they had karaoke going- Friday night and all. We ordered the fried Perch, and it was so good. Lightly breaded and fried. the service was excellent. The only fault we could comment on is you only get one side dish. We thought it should come with a vegetable and then the choice of potato, salad or soup. read more

How can you NOT love Jerry's pub?! This is a historic Michigan lake bar with THEE BEST back deck overlooking the lake. I grabbed a table on the deck with a gf. We drank, ate, caught up and just enjoyed the atmosphere. She was on the lake kayaking. I drove in to join her. This was my 3rd visit to Jerry's but first during the day and to have a meal. The service was so nice and generally attentive. We had to ask for each refill and order but the place was busy. The stuffed mushrooms were really good. I ordered the smoked wings. They were nicely spiced, and crispy! The prices are reasonable you cannot beat the view. My husband really liked his burger. I am looking forward to trying other specials and checking out the live bands they have on the weekends. Go early or be prepared to wait. It's a popular place. read more

I have mixed feelings about this place since I haven't been there a lot. I never had a bad experience but didn't ever wow me either. The food was always good but seemed like a lot of money for what you get. Maybe I'm cheap lol I am my father's son. The location can't be beat. It's right on the edge of Wampler's Lake and really beautiful. Also our server, the bartender at the tiki bar, was awesome and really attentive and friendly. My perch was pretty good and the clam chowder was also enjoyable. And the live music that night was also quite fun. That's pretty much where the positives end. On the negative, when we first arrived we asked if we could sit outside. The woman at the hostess stand told us "the tiki bar only" and didn't direct us to the area, just pointed. We'd never been there before so we didn't know what that meant. When we got there we saw several tables open next to the bar so we asked the bartender if we could sit at one of the tables closest to the end of the deck. He said we could. We sat down and then the aforementioned woman came over and scolded us, telling us, "I TOLD YOU TIKI BAR ONLY. THESE TABLES ARE SPOKEN FOR." before storming off. Sheepishly we got up and moved to the bar where the bartender apologized for misdirecting us. Totally not his fault. Your directions should be clearer, y'all. We certainly weren't trying to game the system. We just didn't know! Everything else after that was smooth. But I wasn't thrilled to be chastised for a simple mistake and it definitely set a weird tone for the evening. As I already said, my chowder and perch were good. My husband got a sausage and mushroom pizza and of course I had a bite. While even a bad pizza is better than no pizza in my estimation, this one wasn't particularly impressive. I would definitely not order it again. The sauce didn't have much flavor and the crust got pretty soggy. The folks over from us had the burger and onion rings it looked awesome. Would definitely try that in the future. Yes, the future. I would definitely come back here. The ambiance and waterfront dining is just too awesome. But I'd steer clear of that particular hostess and stick with the perch or get that tasty looking burger. read more

It was a beautiful Saturday afternoon and while en route to visiting family, we stopped by Jerry's pub for lunch. It's a beautiful location right off of the lake and that's probably why they're still in business. That and it looks like they sell boat storage to compensate for additional revenue which is good because I don't think it would be smart for them to rely on their food and service. While ordering, the waitress mentioned the meal would still get two sides after I attempted to upgrade one of them to sweet potato fries. It was confusing but she explained that it was the normal price and wasn't an upgrade price. That was peculiar to me, but since there was no way to upgrade one of the sides I decided not to upgrade anything and just get fries and the vegetable of the day. I was told it was mixed veggies but was served brussel sprouts. Apparently it was mixed vegetables yesterday, that was the excuse anyways. They were quick to attempt to fix it and provide an alternative but I was so irritated at this point from another issue that it really didn't matter anyway. Speaking of, the ice tea tasted like they grabbed a bucket, went to the lake, filled it up. It tasted of nasty water, too weak, and like the container it was sitting in. As such, I wanted to swap for another drink and wanted to get a mimosa. I'm 34 years old with forehead wrinkles a full beard and was out with my parents. I've never gotten carded in this scenario but of course today is the day I didn't have my wallet on me and the waitress chose to die on that hill. Quite rudely in fact, no apologies just a flippant "oh then you're not getting a mimosa" before offering their other drink options of which they really lacked variety. I understand no one is going to give me sympathy for getting carded and that many have this policy but it really is the first time in years I've even been carded let alone with my parents. In a country location on a lake nonetheless. If she was so in tune with the rules and policy of the location. She said they card everyone even though she didn't card my parents, followed by verbalizing my mother is clearly over 40 yikes! I was fairly irritated and just wanted to be left alone and yet she continued to try and interact with me after I said to just leave me alone, and yet she reacted as if I was the bad guy. The fries were okay. The perch was okay, but that I attribute to it being local as opposed to the talent of the location. Which is actually why the location is getting a 2 instead of a 1 with this review. Everything was fairly bland overall. Waitstaff was great but food was awful. We ordered chicken kabobs. When the food came out all the peppers and onions were on skewer and chicken was in chunks on the side. It came with rice, side salad, humus and Indian bread. Nothing was seasoned. Would not recommend. read more

Disappointed We went to Jerry's Pub for dinner and we ordered a kids cheeseburger. The kids menu allows the choice of either the hamburger or cheeseburger for the same price. When we got our bill we were charged an up-charge for adding cheese to the CHEESEburger! Also the kids menu says that it comes with a fountain drink and we chose 7-up. We were charged for that even though it came with the meal. The waitress didn't know how to refund us for her errors leaving us in a position to leave disappointed. We were in the area staying at our family's lake house and wanted to go out to eat. This was recommended to us. I was unsure how I'd feel because of the overall 3 star rating but I am glad I didn't let that stop me because it was definitely better than that. We had a party of 8 on a Sunday night of Labor day weekend and they had options for us to sit both inside and out. We decided to sit outside and we had a nice view of the lake. They had a fun looking outdoor bar out there too but it wasn't open sadly. Our server was fast and friendly. We got our drinks and ordered our appetizer of cheesy bread which was super cheesy hot and yummy, and then ordered our entrees. Since it was also my birthday I splurged and ordered the beef kabob. Everything we had was delicious. The only thing I would complain about is the rice that came with my meal. It was SO bland. I ate it anyway but it could have used something. The sauce that came with the kabob was sooo good and garlicky. I mixed some into the rice. That helped. The meat and veggies were tender and juicy. It was a fun night in a great atmosphere. Had the burger it was just ok. The meat was not seasoned at least I couldn't tell. The patio has a great view to the lake. Inside though is muggy, dark and it smells like an old casino in Oklahoma. My husband had the Reuben sandwich and actually had to put my burger to the side and grub on his other half as the portions are generous and quite tasty! We have been Jerry's regulars for many years. The view of Wampler's Lake is stunning any time of year. Karaoke night is lots of fun and brings out great singers from pretty far away! We stick to the reubens with cheddar instead of swiss. The bread is made locally. Onion rings are good, homemade with beer batter. Lots of good drinks on the drink menu. Friday night, the sun just setting. we were barely acknowledged by the blob lazily straining the chair to its limit. Karaoke was in full swing and entertaining. No "two tops" but a 5 top and a few other random tables in the 'other room where we felt as if we were being punished. Considered leaving but there isn't much this late and this far out on a blue line road. remembered that I hadn't been to Jerry's in a while as the food had suffered however 'karaoke+mediocre food+hinger: all of a sudden a young buck offers us a high table but not chairs. Wait here. I'll get you some chairs. i point out one in the corner. Ok fine. we both order the lake perch. there is a gal butchering some song but enough to make it funny. Our meals come. I'll tell you...3 curled up pieces of fish and there is no way they would have plated that serving for a hungry lake dweller or farmer. My fries were good. Her baked potato was cold. I chose Brussels sprouts as the vegetable and those never materialized nor did the second chair. I ate standing up the whole time. Save yourself. Enjoy a bottle beverage and the random karaoke. She sat in a corner diagonal from me - on her phone. We waited 15/20 minutes for drinks itself and forgot my sisters order. And no, it was not busy. We went on a Wednesday around noon for lunch. I wasn't that hungry, so I just ordered the artichoke dip appetizer. It comes out in a long tray with hand made chips. The chips were amazing, but the artichoke dip was just oil and parmesan cheese. It was cooked perfectly, and the batter was very light - just the way we like it. The fries were also good. We substituted clam chowder for one of the sides, and it was decent - not the best we've ever had, but it tasted fine, with plenty of clams. They also have a decent bar with some good drafts on tap. We go here quite often because the food is good and the service is usually pretty friendly Today we took a drive from Canton and ended up here for a bite to eat ! Oh Jerry. This place is such a staple on Wampler's Lake it is hard to imagine a trip out here without a boat ride over to Jerry's. Jerry himself is a cool cucumber who always has a smile for his guests (and a joke or two for the regulars) and the servers are all friendly and efficient. Grew up taking my boat to Jerrys almost gave 5 stars but the interior of this place could use an update. It still looks the same as it did when I was 20, came back from the military and it really hasn't changed. Time to invest in the Restaurant guys. Ignore most, if not all, of the 1 star reviews because this is a fun local place whose appeal might be missed by those better suited to chain restaurant dining. Having said that, this place is a wonderful neighborhood dive. It has an old drop ceiling, horrific paneled walls, an odd floor plan, dark interior, uneven tables, and everybody there --LOVES it. The clientele of this place is all over the board. You've got bikers strolling in, seniors out for the evening, families catching dinner, sun-kissed teenagers milling about after a long day at the lake, and neighborhood regulars who have literally wandered in off the street. The food here is GOOD. Don't worry about unseasoned ground beef --it's a hamburger. They've got good soup, sandwiches, and a nice variety of entrees. The beer selection is creative. If you're able to get a table on the lake, that makes it an even more enjoyable outing. The meals are probably $2-4 higher than they should be, but it's a fair price to pay for this sort of "ambiance." To kind of wrap it up, this is a fun, LOCAL restaurant that is happy to have you drop by. Don't seek this place out to find the "best" of anything because it's not there. However, if you want to have a fun, authentic dinner with the Wamplers Lake community, give it a shot! read more
