Plus his world had gotten super small because I couldn't trust taking him to the places we used to hang in public. Anyway, after the meet and greet we went with a moderate board and train program. And then it didn't start as smoothly as we all hoped. Not because of their team, Bo was just more aggressive and reactive than he'd displayed during the meet and greet. Was it disappointing - absolutely, but most important was Stand Proud were having the difficult conversation with us about what Bo needed. We all came up with a plan that set Bo up for success, and they made sure it was something we were comfortable with. Since then, it's been a journey, but the results are remarkable and they've been so invested in his success. He's got a strong grasp on place and sit until released, and even off-leash skills and recall. He's also much more comfortable regulating himself and waiting for guidance when he's unsure. Taking him for a walk was a struggle as no amount of coaxing would keep him from pulling. The biggest problem was that his fear of other dogs would have him acting defensively. This often led him to him pulling us to the ground. Taking him for a walk was an ongoing challenge to which we adapted and accepted. After 4 years of living amicably with our other older bulldog, Vinnie began to be aggressive towards him. We were on the verge of turning him over to the Humane Society and then we found Danielle, Brandon and their team. The fee for their services and the length of time Vinnie would be away caused us to be reluctant to book their services. A few phone conversations and emails led us to an evaluation appointment at their home and facility in Fernly. Brandon and Danielle spent more than hour explaining everything to us. They both exhibited the qualities we look for in any professional. They presented their background explained their program clearly and simply, and answered all our questions. We had conserns about their training tools but were reassured with Brandon's detailed explanation. They have a large air conditioned kennel with spacious cages, large fenced in yard bordering a large open space. The staff we met were friendly. They were absolutely clear that their residential training is all about building a foundation and that success is dependent on how well we do our job as dog owners. We then observed one of local classes they provide all around Reno/Sparks. The trainer at the class exhibited all of the same qualities we saw in the owners. The dogs in the class were incredibly well behaved. We then booked a 4 week board and train program. When we picked up Vinnie, his behavior had improved 1,000%. Abby, his superb trainer spent 3 hours with us explaining what they did and walking us through what we needed to be doing moving forward. Brandon came by our house about a week later and spent over an hour with us answering our questions and reinforcing the guidance from Abby. Upon taking him home, he has not exhibited any aggression towards our other dog and our walks are more controlled and pleasant. With board and train you are able to attend classes for up to a year. We are excited to attend our first class with Vinnie soon. While we do not expect everything to be perfect, everyone's life has improved, We are grateful to the Stand Proud team and highly recommend them.

THE TRAINING STICKS!!…read more One year ago I dropped Vision off for his Board and Train. Today, I took him out on a hike off-leash and he did amazing! By the end, he was WILLINGLY in heel and walking by my side. He continued to listen to commands throughout the hike, and this just goes to show that sticking with Bailey's plan and continuing the training works! Since Vision's Board and Train, I've utilized Bailey's boarding for various trips. Vision is excited every time he's dropped off and I know that I can trust Bailey and her team. I'm even more grateful now than I was a year ago after picking Vision up. He is still the same goofy and happy dog - he's just more fulfilled and I am a more knowledgeable owner. In my prior review I noted that I hoped to update my review with greater success. Well, we've done it! Our dog who had serious separation anxiety has been weaned off her anxiety and sedation medications and can stay home alone for 8-10 hours with absolutely no problems. The text to our family read: "She's fixed!! We've done it!". Bark Busters taught us how to keep our dog engaged through daily tasks and activities and they taught us how to speak Zoey's language. She is so much happier and less anxious. We are still seeing improvements in how she handles other dogs and we are working on her car anxiety but being able to leave Zoey home alone has been a huge lifestyle improvement for us. The dogs were growling and barking and then both dogs charged at my neighbor! Luckily my neighbor picked up some rocks and threw them at the dogs to stop them. My neighbor and another man were able to escape without being attacked. Someone should call the police and at least make a report on this facility.

He had been acting out of sorts at daycare too. I expressed my worries to Heidi upon check in and she understood he was still going through a tough time without his buddy. She told me she would indicate that he was a special needs dog, who may need some extra care and attention. I really appreciated her going out of the way to put my mind at ease for our trip. I checked in a few days into our vacay and was told he was not eating like normal and asked if they could try some chicken broth and pumpkin to encourage him to eat. I told the staff on the phone that he had been more finicky with eating even with new wet foods. They would keep an eye on him and let me know if anything changed. I got a call from the staff the day before pick up and was told my dog hadn't eaten in two days but energy at daycare was normal. They offered to try and hand-feed him. When I picked him up, they said they were able to get him to eat some so he must've been getting lonely and wanted extra attention. I have really appreciate all of their staff's help in getting our dog adjusted to the loss of our other dog and for their support and understanding during his first solo stay. Thank you!
