We started working with Bark Busters in November 2020. As I write this, it is October 2021. Our husky, Zoey, has come a LONG way and I am so grateful for Randy and Bark Busters for the training and tools that we continue to use every day. It has been 10 months now since we rescued Luna. She was a scared fearful puppy. Kayla and Randys help and guidance we were well on our way. Don't get me wrong it wasn't easy, but looking back it was well worth it.It took me to a whole new level of patience I didn't know I had. Luna is now truly my best friend. I have found not to go too fast with new things. Like off leash and this was the biggest one. She is totally off leash except with crowds and traffic. We got 3 visits, two small spray bottles that did not work, and two harnesses that we do not use. As stated by you, this is not an every two weeks training. I have been through a few different trainers local and national brands. within 30 minutes I was already seeing results, major results. Nothing good to say about how this business is ran We waited months for our dog to be trained and they cancelled on us less then 12 hours before the appointment. Dog aggression is listed on their website as one of the issues they can help with, which is what my dog needed. I find their website to be misleading and ambiguous due to the fact they said our dog could not be "fixed" 12 hours prior to his appointment when his problems were listed as something that Bark Busters could help with. We were told that it's not possible to help us in any way the day before we we were scheduled to have training. I was so skeptical that training would help with my Aussies extreme separation anxiety, but just in our first session with Kayla we were able to leave her in a room alone for 30 minutes and she didn't even cry once! I called very early am and left a message as soon as the business opened I received a call back immediately,I have never used a service like this before my 1 year old golden retriever is the first dog I've ever had . I felt very uneducated and not sure I called several (9) other similar services felt rushed , unsure and uncomfortable with some of the methods . Paid the fee and the trainer we have seen about 4 times in five months now. Last session the trainer was supposed to get back to us with an answer for training our dog not to play with the chickens, and how to train him boundaries with them. Interestingly, our dog doesn't have prey drive and is fine with the chickens we are home. When left on his own, he'll sneak in an maul a chicken. We are guessing he's trying to play with it. Anyway, never followed up with us and for the visit before last, didn't offer another time to work with us and our dog. I'd do better with a Petsmart Class or something else. Now he is the HAPPIEST he has ever been. In relation to the review who claimed that the "$300 booking fee" was a scam, that $300 goes towards the overall $1000 fee to train your baby for life. LIFE. That means that if my precious Theo were to develop another behavioral issue later in life, bark busters would come to the rescue at NO EXTRA COST, whether that be months or years later. And even if I moved out of the Reno area, I could establish myself with the next local bark busters and pick up where I left off....AT NO COST. I have zero bad words to say about this company. Randy (I have yet to meet Kayla however I had also heard amazing things about her) has brought Theo's inner puppy out, the puppy who is loving and loyal and the sweetest boy in the world. SCAM, SCAM, SCAM. Contacted this company after seeing their TV advertisement. Received a call from a "local number" while I was in a meeting and asked to call back, which they said yes please give us a call at the same number. Called that number back and it was a dead line. Tried it about an hour later, someone answered and I was told that Kayla and Randy were not available and their assistant would call back. I asked the operator's affiliation and she stated they were an answering service and could only pass on the call. Finally, got a returned call from their "assistant" who stated I could book Kayla and Randy for Sunday if I made a $1000 payment to them. I stated this sounds like a scam to me, then he offered me to book the appointment for a "small" $300 booking fee, required to be paid before booking. After researching this couple they live in Las Vegas, so I am not sure how they can provide continued "lifetime" training out of Las Vegas. Stay away!!! 11/18/2019 Received another phone call today asking to either remove or amend my review. I stand by the review and its contents, except for the booking fee amount which I adjusted. They offered to meet with me for free to show me what they can offer, but I declined. I still believe this to be a scam group, and even more so now. When challenged on their location, I reaffirmed they live and operate in Las Vegas as shown in a simple public records search. Additionally their State of Nevada business is licensed and registered to a residential address in, guess where, Las Vegas. They do not have a Washoe County or Reno Business License in their State Business license name or in either of their personal names. In fact Bark Busters is licensed to an entirely different individual in Washoe County and Reno. It seems as they fall to the typical attitude that it is someone else's fault when they have issue with their service and aren't willing to give them a try. Elaina has already helped us so much with Trouble and Pippy! We are amazed at the changes in just one visit. Trouble is a 4 year old Jack Russell Mix and he is protective over me and very, very vocal. We brought Pippy, a 7 month old Shih Tzu Mix into our home a few months ago and he hasn't been thrilled. First of all, I want to say that, although this is expensive, it's worth every penny because you WILL get the dog you've always wanted if you follow the program. It's truly amazing how well this works!! We had tried many different dog training programs and most of them used treats to motivate and teach good behavior. Well, that just didn't work with my pup Lily. She would get so excited about the treats, that's all she paid attention to. She would expect to be paid with a treat every time she complied with my directions. And, needless to say, I didn't always have a treat on hand. And I wanted her to pay attention to ME, whether I had a treat for her or not. Secondly, her behavior was uncontrollable. She wouldn't walk calmly on a leash. She pulled like crazy, whether we used a collar or harness, and nothing we tried would calm her down. I even tried the Gentle Leader head harness, which is supposedly foolproof, but that didn't work either. She wouldn't even respond to treats, she was so out of control on a walk. And when she turned 6 months old, she found her voice. Ugh! Up to that point she never barked. But all of a sudden she started barking at everything. She became hyper vigilant and would run to the windows and bark loudly and constantly at anything: leaves blowing in the wind, rain, an airplane, a car, an open garage door down the street, a piece of trash outside on the grass... Anything would set her off. And people or dogs or cats outside would send her into a frenzy! It was getting truly unbearable. We couldn't talk on the phone or watch TV without being interrupted by her loud barking. We had no peace. Using words like "No" or "Quiet" had little effect on her. We obviously had a problem. We love Lily very much. She's our sweet little girl! But this behavior was affecting our relationship with her, and we were running out of patience. So I did a Yelp search for personal dog trainers and saw the good reviews for Bark Busters. I called the local number and heard about their approach. They do not use treats for training. They would teach us how to communicate with Lily so she understands and respects us. We would have our baby back, and they would be there to help us for life. For life! It almost sounded too good to be true, but we were desperate. When Kayla came over, she was a wealth of information! Before even bringing Lily out to meet her, she told us about how nutrition plays a big part in a dog's behavior. She examined the food we were feeding her, and recommended a diet higher in protein and lower in carbs. Carbs were getting Lily too hyped up. What a revelation! Then Kayla worked on some training with us and I could see Lily responding right away! It was truly miraculous. Of course we were given homework on how to use the techniques correctly. I won't lie, it certainly takes practice. And an investment of your time and energy. But after a few weeks, there is a major change in Lily. She is much calmer. She pays attention to us, always looking to us for approval (which is awesome!). She usually only barks now as a quick alert, and then stops. Walking calmly with her is going to take awhile longer, though. But she has already shown marked improvement. We are very happy with the progress she's made, and in such a short time! Lastly, you do need to know that Kayla doesn't do the work for you. It's important that you be the one building this new relationship with your dog. We signed up with Bark Busters because they come to us. We bring our dog to our store with us and sometimes she barks at customers which we can't have and walking her was a nightmare. If anyone else walked anywhere near us she would bark her head off. We've been working with Bark Busters for less than a week now and already she can walk right by people without barking and has hardly been barking at any customers. The results happen fast.
