We spotted a 'get your rings cleaned' sign on the window, as we're visiting Camas for our 50th Valentine's Day! I thought, I'd look around, while getting my rings cleaned, but it was done before I had a chance to check, if they have any gold bracelet. . . . my intentions to buy sometimes this year, since my birthday is just around the corner. I was ready to leave, after I got my rings cleaned. But, the warmed of the room, and the friendliness of the staff, made me linger on and on, and on and on, and I didn't really want to go back out in the 40degree weather. More & more customers were coming in, and they're being helped, while hubby checked on his phone, and I was free to browse all I want. No pressures! Still not thinking of buying anything, there's no bracelet I wanted, but it was so fun looking through all the displays, that I can touch & gawk, or try on (I asked). UNTIL, hello! I found a display of gold paper clip style necklace, and I knew I wanted it... I told hubby: to attach my 2nd gold cross! It was something I needed, and the price was right. My wife had a two rings custom made by Runyan's a couple of years ago but unfortunately we lost one of them just before Christmas. She was so disappointed because she loved that ring. Runyan was able to make another exact duplicate and with a very quick turn around just in time for me to surprise her with it for her birthday. I am 3rd generation living in Camas... I grew up with the original Runyan family. In fact grew up just doors away from the original Runyan's. The last owner was Debbie. The new couple that purchased Runyans, are not honest and tried to "switch out", my solid gold chain, for a chain that was pot metal! When I came to pickup, the chain was choker length, and cheap pot-metal! She suggested I just take it home??? I did not! Next day I returned and demanded the return of my chain... I said either give me My chain, or I'll call the police! Nothing happened... so I said I'm not leaving until you come up with my necklace... Still nothing! ... It was a stand- off! I then said "You call the police", because I'm not leaving without my necklace! She (Erin, the owner), decided to call the police! When he listened to them in private, and talked to me to hear my side... he then suggested I take a look at the chain again..."my chain", suddenly appeared! *To leave jewelry with them, and have to call the police to get my chain back, to have to go to this extent was (I believe), the only reason I got my chain back! I needed my ring sized from a 6 to a 7 and one small $40-50 diamond (which was quoted to me by a staff member) replaced. They then proceeded to tell me prongs were wearing down and it was going to be over $500 to get repaired!!! The total cost of this ring brand new was $1,000 only. This place is over priced...by a lot. I took a 18k gold ring in to get sized up from a size 6 to size 8 and to get a cheap stone set in the existing setting. After the jeweler looked at the ring I received a quote of $425 for the work. $205 for resizing the ring and a whopping $220 to set a $20 stone into the existing setting. I took my ring to Fred Meyer Jewlers and they did all the work for $180. I like to support small local businesses, but their pricing is way out of wack. read more

Runyan's has always provided exceptional repair and jewelry! My husband came to them for my beautiful wedding band which they were able to match perfectly to my engagement ring. Watch repairs are key for me and they do a great job of turning them around quickly! Going to try their permanent jewelry next as I've had a few friends try it at Runyans and their selection is so cute!! And inexpensive!! Plus everyone, especially the new owner is so friendly! I had a several nice pieces of jewelry that needed repairs and Erin at Runyan's was recommended to me. There were two pairs of earrings and one pave diamond pendant. I couldn't be more pleased with the work that was done! They're all as good as new! I'm so happy to be able to wear the earrings again without worrying about losing them. And the pendant is perfect. It had lost a stone so I asked to have it replaced and to tighten the remaining stones. I can't even find which stone was missing! They do excellent work and are very reasonably priced. I try to support local businesses and this jewelry store is no exception. Unfortunately, in my experience at the store, it seems the staff does not understand the higher-end jewelry market in terms of watches and rings. The attitude of the associate was average at best, but their lack of knowledge was most striking. I am hoping that this was an isolated incident, but quite frankly, I am not going to risk it and spend my money there. Portland and Vancouver have superior stores, in my opinion. I hope they fix these issues, but until they do, I suggest going elsewhere. read more

Very friendly staff, came in to buy a Christmas present for my mother. The nice woman who helped me was very friendly and very helpful. But, when I just wanted a chance to look around, they gave me a little space and a chance to be able to peruse everything. When I chose the gift, they wrapped it up so beautifully! I did not even have to make any additions before I put it under the tree. There's a little bit of everything here, from the smaller budget to the bottomless checkbook. I really want to support local vendors like this that seem to provide a more intimate service than the big boxes you see in the malls. I did decide to go with them and spent over 6k on an engagement ring. However when the style and feel of the ring did not meet the expectations of my wife they basically told me tough luck and offered me "scrap metal" prices for an in store trade. I went to them after reading lots of good reviews and I wanted to support a small business, however I can't help but feel like they deserve a no star rating after how they treated us. Fred Meyers at least stands behind their products and will offer in store credit if you are not satisfied. read more

After el boyfriendo became el fiancée, my beautiful ring needed to be re sized. We decided that we wanted to use a local jeweler so we walked down to Runyan. My finger was correctly sized and as I left my beloved ring for a week I knew it would be fine. The ring was done a little early which was great news for me. When we went to pick it up it was a perfect fit. I was a little nervous because we were taking the ring down almost two sizes, but it fit perfect and there was no line that showed it had been re sized. Great craftsmanship. This has taken me a little while to post but... This place is amazing. I had jewelry that needed to be cleaned so I took it to a Kay Jewelers because a necklace and earrings I got for my college graduation was at their 6 month mark. My grandparents gave me diamond studs for my second piercing when I was about 14 and those hadn't been cleaned professionally since then. Kay Jewelers was going to clean them but the diamond was lose so they were going to charge $40. My Grandpa suggested that I try Runyan's because he had been going there and really liked their service. When I got to Runyan's I was promptly helped and the guy there took my earrings and tightened the diamonds and cleaned them for me. They came out cleaner and shiner than I had ever seen them and way better than Kay Jewelers. When I pulled out my credit card to pay them for their service the guy said it was no problem and it didn't cost anything because it was such a small job. When I said "Really??" in astonishment he was all, "Yeah, it's no problem, just come back whenever you need something else done." And let me tell you I WILL DEFINITELY COME BACK!! I would highly recommend this place. Really clean inside, nice people and great service. Would totally go here again before one of those high priced chain jewelers! read more

I used to love this jewelry store with not only the amazing quality of jewelry on hand but the wonderful customer service provided. Not anymore! I had a ring designed around ten years ago and just recently had taken it in to get resized. About a month ago the diamond fell out after being told that it was secure. I went in to talk with them about getting it replaced and the sales lady acted like I was inconveniencing her by not knowing all the little fine details about the ring, and then placed the blame squarely with me telling me that by wearing the ring I caused the diamond to fall out. I was already upset about losing the diamond as it was my grandmothers and irreplaceable but to made to feel worse completely turned me off to ever coming back to them for any jewelry needs. read more

I had a very expensive diamond ring enlarged at Runyan's. One day as I was sitting at lunch, a piece of the shank fell out in my lap!! So glad I didn't loose the ring! I took the ring and the piece of gold to Runyan's that day. When I picked it up, it was $70!! I thought they would stand behind their work! I am very disappointed, and frankly just mad.
