I brought 2 bracelets in to A&J Jewelry. I'd never been there before and like to support local business. Never again. One bracelet was an easy fix-just a metal connection needing repair. The second bracelet, a tennis bracelet with very small diamonds needed ONE diamond replaced. I dropped them off on 8/2. The simple bracelet was fixed in a couple weeks. I had to call repeatedly for updates and was told the tennis bracelet was more difficult (a part had to be ordered). Finally on 9/20 I received a call it was ready. This is after multiple calls from me every 2 wks checking in and being told every time, it would be ready "the following Tuesday". They simply ruined my bracelet. Instead of replacing one small diamond, they replaced THREE. And instead of the 3 new diamonds being flush with the bracelet in accordance with the others, they are raised. AND they used gold which does not match the gold in the bracelet. I called them when I got home after looking at the "repair" and they simply said they were sorry I wasn't happy. I do not recommend this jewler. They ruined this very sentimental and dear bracelet. read more

They give you a free estimate, and can fix your item in a timely manner depending on the material of the jewelry. We brought my engagement ring in a few days ago to get it resized and I am so glad we brought it here. When we came in they were friendly and warm and helped me find the right size for my finger. Their pricing is very fair and when inspecting the ring for a quote he noticed some high prongs that he could level out, which would help reduce the risk of me getting my ring stuck in things like clothes. The fact that he offered that as an option was amazing because I was getting it stuck in EVERYTHING. We just got the ring back and I'm so happy with it that I cried a little when I put it on. Not only is the ring a perfect fit (snug but not too tight), I can tell that he tapered the band so that it fits on my finger more comfortably than it did before, and the prongs are so beautifully even and smooth that I keep running my hands over them just because it feels so nice. The ring looks more beautiful than it did when it went in and it's like he made it more balanced and sleek. If you want quality work done by very nice people, I would seriously recommend A&J Jewelry. Not only that, but they have some great pieces for sale in the cases up front. We started going to A & J about 6 years ago. I had a custom wedding ring designed by a well known jeweler here in the area that lost the center diamond. After getting a recommendation from a friend I took it into Bill. First off he showed me how there were not enough prongs in place to hold the stone and that is why it fell out. My wedding ring is yellow gold and so was the prongs. He took the time to show me how the yellow prongs were not enhancing the diamond and showed me some of hhis work so I could see how it would look with platinum prongs. Wow, it was startling. This is a jeweler that not only knows his craft but is passionate about what he does and if that is not enough he is one of the nicest people to work with. He genuinely cared about what I thought instead of justing thinking about a sale. Bill mainly designs and sells his own custom jewelry. He also makes over your old jewelry into something that you would love. Bill sold me a beautiful 1+ carat diamond, changed all the prongs to platinum (ended up adding 3 more prongs) and suggested I get it reappraised. The ring tripled in value and we are both very happy. The work Bill does is excellent and his prices are really low compared to anything in the area. We have no problem recommending A & J Jewelry to our family and friends. My wedding ring and my engagement ring needed to be sized up, another ring needed a lost diamond replaced, and the last ring was a family heirloom that needed the stone tightened and the ring and cleaned and polished. I broke a chain on a piece of jewelry that I have worn every day for over 40 years. Not being familiar with jewelry repair, I selected A and J Jewelry somewhat at random, although some good web reviews made me more comfortable. Having a recent knee replacement, I was not able to go myself and somewhat tentatively sent my daughter to A and J for the repair. When she returned, she not only had the repaired item, she told me that Bill the owner had repaired it for free. Bill told my daughter it was simple and he was happy to help. Wow! I guess I shouldn't have been surprised as the web reviews spoke to the "neighborhood" feel and "highly skilled professional work" that A and J provided. Still, businesses today have lost what A and J provides; local and personal service with a smile. I can't thank Bill enough for not only assisting me, but also for showing my daughter the value of seeking out our local professionals. She was very much impressed and had never run into a situation like this. I related to her that when I grew up we most often dealt with local persons and businesses who actually cared that we had come to them. Timely and honest. I purchased my ring through a department store online & I'm impatient enough to not want to wait 2+ weeks to get it sized. (FYI...Most repair shops do NOT do same day or even 3 day sizings anymore). After using star rating system online, I went to Rand's Jewelers. Gentleman inside frowned & told me it shouldn't be done, but If I wanted to try it would be $150? Really debated to return the ring but I remembered A&J Jewelers and popped in. I somehow knew it could be done. Bill took a look at it and said no problem give me a few days. I asked a couple of questions since the other jeweler said essentially no way. Bill looked up over his jewelers visor and said "The difference between me and them is, 50 years experience". Done, end of story. What both jewelers did not know was that I was in the fine jewelry industry for over 25 years from custom design mountings, to managing large chain jewelry stores and my former husband and I owned a jewelry repair shop many moons ago. Bill has created several beautiful white gold rings for me and recently added SuperFit shanks for rings I had been unable to wear due to enlarged finger joints due to arthritis. The service is great, they know our name when we come in the shop, they understand my style and are very helpful. Bev has restrung my pearl bracelets and cleaned my rings. I am so shocked by the rudeness of the owner or the main jeweler. I just got off the phone with them with a very clear description of what a I need done ( I have the stones, the dimensions with exact measurements, the mountings with exact measurements and photos). All I needed was a "rough" price for them to mount the stones in the earrings. He was very unpleasant and told me he would not quote even a rough estimate over the phone even after I told him I understand if the price would change a bit once he had them and he still said no. I told him I was wanting to call several jewelers to get a fair price and figure out who was the most affordable. That way I am not driving all over town trying to get help... When you have only so much time in a day sometimes calling is really helpful. He was so rude. His response "I don't want to work with you" and he hung up on me. I see he has a lot of good reviews, so I am thinking I'm a rare case. But seriously, who treats someone like that? read more
