We ended up canceling our sunset cruise and still waited another 20 min to get ours to go. When we asked to speak to a manager, the manager was more than rude. I recently had dinner at Steamers Steak & Seafood. The food and service were great. However, it was so cold inside the restaurant that everyone in the restaurant was wearing their winter jackets and beanies. I had on a wool base layer, a fleece, and a coat and I was cold. The heat had allegedly been turned on 30 minutes prior to the 5 pm opening. We arrived around 5:15 and because it was unseasonably warm for McCall, I left my beanie and gloves in the truck. That was a mistake! If I invited people to my home for dinner, I would make sure that when guests arrived that my home would be warm enough that they could remove their outerwear. When we were seated, I mentioned to the hostess that it was very cold inside. She assured me that the heat was on. Twenty minutes later, it still felt like a refrigerator inside. I then asked the server about the temperature and she told me that the building is old and the heating system is not the best. She said that she had turned up the thermostat when she arrived at 4:30 (it was now close to 5:30 pm). She said she would check to make sure that the heat was on. Well apparently it wasn't on, because maybe 15 minutes later I could start to feel a little bit of warm air - or maybe the heat was coming from my food. It wasn't so cold in the restaurant that the butter was rock hard and impossible to spread. I wished that I had brought a cushion to sit on like I would while attending a football game in an outdoor stadium. I don't understand why you just don't turn up the heat well before you open?!?! And if you know that there is a problem with the heating system, why don't you address that? And just so you're aware, I'm a local and I'm well acquainted with dressing appropriately for cold weather, but I don't think I should have to dress for cold weather to eat inside a restaurant. read more

Wow. Food was AMAZING! Staff was friendly, attentive. We were seated right away at 6:00 on a Saturday night, without a reservation. I could not believe how quickly plates were coming out of the kitchen! Every seat was filled, and there was a 42 top seated just before us. FORTY TWO!!!! It was definitely a bit tight in there, but the staff ROCKED! Blown away. The mushroom bisque was excellent, the sourdough soft and warm, and I had the Baked Scallops in garlic butter and parm. The service was good, always made sure our drinks were full and brought us lots of bread. The salads were also good. Other than that it was terrible. All of our steaks were over cooked and dry. We all ordered medium rare and they were basically well done and extremely tough and chewy - felt like we were sawing through jerky. One of our friends got the scallops and they were also over cooked. It was very small and the atmosphere was chaotic with cheap trifold dividers separating tables. Overall the steaks were not worth the price. Would not recommend getting a steak here at all. read more

I really wanted to like this place more and while the food was pretty good just way too many mishaps. We made a reservation for our anniversary and based on some of the mixed reviews hoping it would be better. Walking in I am not sure what kind of atmosphere they are trying to accomplish, but what we did see is weird "for sale" items in the lobby and inside is super outdated. We got sat in a corner booth and waited for some service. After about 10 mins a friendly you lady said I will bring you wanter. After a few more minutes she came back out with the water and we ordered a couple glasses of wine to start. This is a positive not only are their by the glass prices really good, but so are the bottles compared to most any places. We both had the Conundrum which is a great red blend and for $9 a glass is a super great deal. For appetizer we had the baked Brie with walnuts and huckleberry glaze served with freshly baked bread. This was pretty good and good way to start. For dinner I had the rack of lamb with mashed potatoes and fresh veggies. The lamb was cooked perfect, but lacked some seasoning and the sauce was a little overwhelming. My wife had the lemon chicken in a white wine sauce with capers. She absolutely loved her dish. The food for the most part was the high point of the experience. However what took away some stars was just how outdated the place was and didn't appear to be super clean. Plus the service while our waitress was friendly and constantly apologized to our table and the others around for forgetting things etc...you can only apologize so many times when you just want to get it right. After walking out of a restaurant across the street due to horrendous service, we walked into Steamers with no reservations and a party of 7. They actually apologized for the previous restaurant's poor service and said they would do everything to take care of us. It was obvious they truly cared about their customers. They rearranged some reservations and sat us right away. They saw the kids were about to melt down with hunger and brought bread and butter out for them. The ambiance was beautiful and the service was fast and attentive. All of our food was great. I got the special and devoured it. Left like a 50% tip since they went out of their way to provide great service. read more

I to Steamers went with a group of four on a tour of Idaho and this was the best meal we had over six days. We tried for starters the Brie and scallops. They were excellent. For mains NY steak, scallops, trout and halibut. Everyone was happy with the quality and we appreciated the generous servings and great sides. This place isn't always easy to get into so calling ahead for a reservation is highly recommended. Salad was outstanding with lots of fresh greens, candied nuts and dried pears. Entree was rack of lamb and it was cooked perfectly. Very tender, and fall of the bone goodness, creamy mashed potatoes and a nice veggie medley. For dessert we were recommended the Crème brûlée. I however would not recommend it. It was just thick flavorless pudding, not much flavor and the sugar shell on top looked as it should but was not crisp. Ambiance wasn't great, but it was probably where we were sitting. The servers station ( where they scrape the plates off and put the silverware in a bucket after they clear the tables) was right near us so it was a bit noise and distracting. Our server was nice and attentive. Overall good experience. But ask for a seat near the front window. read more

I ate at Steamers on Saturday May 10th. I ordered the rack of lamb and only received 3 chop with 2 rib bones. Later I found out that a full rack should have been 4 chops with 2 ribs. Although the lamb was very good I feel that for the $45 I paid that I should have gotten a full rack of lamb as it stated in the menu. read more

The scallops were way too wet(the highlight of my last visit), the steak was bland, the rice flavorless, and the potatoes tasted/felt like instant. Even the bread was overly charred/rock hard, and very difficult to eat. The service was friendly, but spotty. For $45+ a person, I would go elsewhere. read more

We Just had an amazing steak meal. Don't let the very unassuming exterior and interior sway you away from trying this place. It was sooooo good! The service was fantastic from start to finish. We skipped the appetizer and glad we did. I had no room to finish my NY strip and had to take 1/2 of it home. We started with a hearty caesar salad and bread and a glass of wine. Delicious! The NY strip steak was on point! Cooked perfectly with some yummy fresh vegetables and the very best mashed potatoes. My hubby got the cajun ribeye and was equally impressed.
