My only complaint is that each signature bowl comes with very few fruit toppings (if any) compared with other acai bowls I've had. To add beyond one topping is $0.75+, which i think is kind of steep for chopped blueberries or something... I love my regular restaurants and sometimes I'm a bit slow to try new things but recently I have learned about Açaí bowls. The place where we normally get açaí bowls was closed on Monday. We were bummed because it was so hot outside. 80+ in Berkeley is not that common. So we went to Yelp to find a backup. And I'm so glad we did! We were pleasantly surprised with Rush. It's in downtown Berkeley on Addison Street. I actually parked a few blocks away thinking that I wouldn't be able to find parking, but there was parking right out in front of the store. It's got a cute storefront vibe. Cool art on the walls. They seem to get quite a few online orders so it took a while for our bowls to be made. While we waited , I went and got my car and brought it back to a nearby street spot. I ordered the Mai Tai bowl with gluten-free granola and my daughter got the Beach bowl. There was lots of fresh fruit and on a hot day It was really refreshing. I thought they were delicious! I started eating mine while we were on our way home. My only complaint would be the time that it took. We probably waited for 15 to 20 minutes after ordering. There was only one person in there doing all the work (and I don't blame her) and like I said it looked like they were online orders also. In our favorite spot that we went to that was closed on Monday, we usually get our bowl within minutes after ordering. And they usually have two people working there. So maybe that's what made the difference. I thought Rush was really good. I took off one star for the time that it took for the order to be made. My daughter still thinks the other place, which I will not name, is better. I have to say so far I have not met an Acai bowl that I have not liked. They have a special for Berkeley high students between 11 AM and 1 PM so students get discounted bowls and smoothies. I thought that was really nice because it's a local business and would attract students. Nice community spot! read more

Today, Thursday at 2:40pm I decided to try the Berkeley location, and unfortunately, the experience was disappointing. The girl who handed me my bowl was incredibly rude. It seemed like she was having a bad day, and it definitely showed. When I asked for a bag for one of the bowls (while planning to carry the other), she didn't say a word. She handed me one bowl, tossed the bag on the counter, and walked away without a single word. It felt unnecessarily rude and unprofessional. Excuse the atrocious picture as it does not do the pb n j bowl enough justice! Compared to vitality bowls or nektar, they LOAD up on the toppings. In fact, you can clearly see the heaping amount of freshly made peanut butter they slathered onto my bowl. In retrospect, their pb n j bowl might be one of the best smoothie bowls I think I've ever had. The employees are also incredibly nice, and the establishment is super clean. It is on Addison street, down the road past Revival. It is kind of hidden. I would never have guessed it wasn't just part of the apartments on that street. Its a tiny adorable little shop. The customer service was gracious and helpful. They have bowls and smoothies. The bowls are basically a super thick smoothie consistency with granola and various fruit toppings. They're all around $10 to start. This seems a little pricy but i'm sure its because they use such great ingredients. We got the paradise bowl. It was flavorful, light and delicious. I've been feeling a bit under the weather lately, so I figured some super food would help. I ordered the most popular menu item, the beach bowl, which is an açaí base with granola on the top. You can choose one topping and honey as well. I went with blueberries and honey. The bowls are quite stunning! It will run you about $12. I don't often order acai bowls, so I don't have a price point to compare with if that's pretty standard or not. I loved my bowl. The acai tasted fresh as did the blueberries. The crunch from the granola is probably my favorite part. I did feel a boost of energy afterward, probably from the sugar though lol. Service was friendly and quick. So I actually LOVE rush bowl....... The downtown Oakland location. I recently started working next to the Berkeley location so I thought I would go. The bowl itself was put together very lazily. The açaí base was already melting when he gave it to me so it wasn't made right for 1 the consistency was there at all. Then I asked for EXTRA strawberries for toppings... in what universe is this extra strawberry's if this is extra what's the standard amount of strawberries I went back to ask him and he was nonchalant saying yes that's extra. I looked at him so dumbfounded and just walked away. His answer let me know never to come here again. UPDATE!! I went back to tell them that the bowl was nasty and for some reason their "system dont do refunds" I emailed the manager and I hope to get a response and a refund. read more

Randomly walked into Rush Bowl with a friend after a hike was greeted by the owner who was extremely friendly and took time to explain the menu to us. The establishment was very clean and inviting. For example, the Beach Bowl's banana, mango, guava juice were all blended into the açaí, instead of acting also as default toppings. Orders: - Beach Bowl: not bad. so so sad to be giving this location 3 stars. i used to get rush bowls EVERY SINGLE DAY, whether it be from this location or the oakland one. not sure if they hired new people or if their workers stopped caring, but every time I order a bowl here, it's wrong. I get double almond butter + strawberries every time -- I've been getting a tiny teaspoon (not exaggerating) of almond butter + a mountain load of strawberries (can't even close the lid). OR the almond butter has been beyond salty. Like inedible, someone accidentally dropped a salt bucket in there & said oh well. I am a loyal customer & this location is much closer to me. I really hope they resolve these issues because I can't be going to Oakland everyday but that location has never disappointed me. read more

Upon entering the store, we were greeted by the worker (there seemed to be just one girl working) who was finishing up another couples order. Despite handling the entire restaurant by herself, she worked very efficiently while still providing excellent customer service! We ordered two beach bowls, one with strawberry and one with almond butter. Rush Bowls doesn't offer as many toppings as other acai bowl places, but I honestly prefer that to having an overload of fruits on my bowl. However, if you like to have a variety of toppings, Rush Bowls is not the place to go as each additional toppings will quickly rack up the price of your bowl. The base was nice and thick, there was a generous portion of granola, and the bowls were filled all the way! The overall total was $10.75, which is very reasonable compared to the majority of acai bowls these days. Perfect sweet treat for the summer in AC-less Berkeley! The smoothie bowls are huge and have a slushy-like texture, perfect for hot sunny days. I keep getting the paradise bowl with fruit on top. I don't think the smoothie bowls here are healthy given that many of them use fruit juice and froyo as the base, but they sure are delicious! The staff has always been very friendly. Once or twice they've been understaffed and I've had to wait 30+ minutes for my order. I hope they sort that out, because there isn't much seating nearby so I wandered around downtown for a long time to wait for my food.
