My experiences with management were absolutely horrendous and the living conditions themselves weren't much better. After ignoring 1 email and insulting me in response to another, the leasing manager leased my apartment to someone else after I clearly communicated my intention to renew. There was no indication of this until I went to renew myself, at which point she acted like nothing happened. There was no apology for not getting back to me in the previous conversation, no accountability for this "mistake" on her end (because it wasn't one). And the reason for all of it? The fact that I had questions. Read the other reviews. Take a look at "Victims of Rush" on Facebook. It doesn't look like things have improved since my time living there. I have each correspondence with management documented and timestamped if they would like to challenge me on any of this. There were also other things that haven't been mentioned that I will gladly share. The place is unsafe, both professionally and physically. read more

Was so glad when my lease ended here. After leasing with them for almost 3 years things kept getting worse. There is no privacy, maintenance and front always comes into your unit for "inspections and other random things", fire alarms go off constantly and the parking deck doesn't have enough room for residents let alone visitors. I've had to have guest park in other apartment complex near by because Rush doesn't offer enough visitor spots. It's awful. It's even worse on the weekends and the stairwells and halls are covered in throw up, feces and other things that don't get cleaned. The roach problem is INSANE. I kept my unit super clean but they are infested in the hallways and once one comes into your unit they multiple so fast, taking pest control days to come by and not even resolve the issue. They will charge you for absolutely anything and everything, but guess they need extra money for all these poor renovations they are doing just to be able to charge more to call it "luxury" which it's far from that. There's better options than living here, trust the other reviews. This place isn't worth the money, I paid more living at Rush "student living" than an actual luxury apartment in Uptown. The place needs new management and professional staff both in management and the leasing office. read more

My son lived at Rush for 2 years. In that time, he reported some issues, which were never fixed. When he moved out, they tried to charge us for repairs for those pre-existing issues. After providing proof, they reluctantly removed those charges. They are still trying to get me to pay $75 for cleaning the carpets. 1. The carpets were fine when he moved out. 2. They literally have to clean the carpets before the next tenant moves in. Their MO seems to be to drum up ridiculous charges and hope parents/students will get frustrated and just pay them. If you don't want to deal with made up move out charges, I would avoid this place like the plague. read more

My car was unlawfully accessed and numerous items were stolen from it. It is disappointing to find out that the supposedly secure garage failed to provide the expected safety.. hey have cameras but maybe they off. I filled a complaint and received no help, im still at rush and waiting! read more

Our son lived here for the 2022-2023 school year. He recently returned to his room after an outing and found a hole in his wall with a bullet on his floor...someone literally shot a gun through his bedroom. Rush's response was to place a work order and patch the hole as quickly as possible. No other action or apology was issued. This residence is NOT safe. Had our son been in his room he could have been injured...critically or life ending. Please do not entrust Rush with your child or student's life. read more

I'll start off this review letting you know if you take a tour, go to the upper floors if you want to see the true condition of the building, floors etc, and take a trip down the stairs to the dumpster... yikes! (You'll smell it before you see it). The second thing I'll mention right off the bat is your car is not safe so don't leave ANYTHING valuable in it. I had a bike stolen and a tackle box stolen out of my trunk (two separate occasions) and my girlfriend has had her car broken into a few times. It is section 8 housing re-branded as "luxury student living" since its right next to a school. I wouldn't live there again if they PAID me. Probably the worst thing for me was the roaches and the mold, you WILL encounter roaches if you live here the whole building is infested. I tried everything and still saw them here and there weekly, and even saw them downstairs throughout multiple floors. I can only imagine how bad some other apartments are. The apartment above me leaked water and there was mold and soaking wet drywall in my utility closet for months and I didn't even know until one day it leaked into my breaker and killed power to the room and kitchen. My girlfriend was in my room at the time and overheard the contractors that came to fix it saying "I can't believe people have been living in here." So glad to be out of there the community sucks and all the 18 year olds that live there trash the place. Oh and by the way I hope you like industrial fire alarms going off 24/7 if so you'll love it at Rush. RUSH away as fast as you can you're better off renting a townhouse for half the price and commuting to UNCC. The staff do their best the review is nothing against the staff, it's a giant corporation that owns probably hundreds of buildings like this and they could care less about the quality of life of their residents, management is just following orders. Oh and by the way all the extra fees are a total scam I paid $20 extra a month for a pool view but my room is facing a wall and I had 0 view and horrible natural lighting. If I could give them a zero, I would, but I can't, so I given them a one. Although at first I though it was great and I felt a great privilege to live here, I realized shortly after the community is horrendous, and I do not think anyone with a sense of dignity or self respect should live here. So where to start, overpriced FOR SURE. Hall way carpets = DISGUSTING. WEED SKUNS in every corner, GROSS. Hallways full of TRASH, community= TRASH. Pool... seems incredible and so worth the rent, until you realize how UNCOMFORTABLE, AWKWARD and just fucking off it is to have alcoholics sucking all good vibes away, and people just creeping from the guy and every other window around it. They gym, seems fine but not stair climber ?? and at night people can just creep through the windows. Place is lousy, trashy, ghetto and really not worth your money. The people living here are just as bad. The parking lot is constructed by mentally slow individuals who cannot measure dimensions and are not from planet earth. I DO NOT RECCOMEND. Reason N1= THE PARKING LOT IS MADE FROM HELL. I had an ant infestation, and like it is neither safe nor pleasing to live here. There is puddles of dried out vomit in nearly every corner of this building and the staff does not think that it is probably good common sense to its residents to clean VOMIT from the ground. I mean it is in your face, you can be coming home from work ready to relax, wanting a nice smelling shower and have food/drink in your had... and BAM FRESH VOMIT on the ground.. for days... weeks, and then moths. HOW D I S G U S T I N G is this place??? same goes for trash all over the stairs, hallways, parking lot, etc. It really is too much for someone to put up with, and people just don't deserve to live under these conditions for a thousand dollars a month. really. The area itself is just really dumb, and so is this community. read more

Writing this review at 2:57 am just so I don't forget. Just another typical night at Rush that your scared out of your sleep to the sound of the fire alarm going off for the millionth time this month. This alarm will be going off for a minimum of 20 minutes. If you ever want to have company over prepare for them not to have any visitor parking. Their is only one lower level and an outside sidewalk of parking. I moved in to Rush August 2022 and the same car has been parked outside up until today and has been using a spot someone else could be using daily. This car has clearly been left and not driven flat tire etc, and Rush still has not moved it. If you love the smell of smoke coming through the apartment vents 24/7 this is your place as well. They send emails saying they will fine people, guess what..??? they never do. But they will fine you for leaving your trash out past pickup time. This leads me to my next note, someone's dog left poop all over my hallway and door Matt and it took them a week to clean it. Residents are so lazy and let their animals poop and pee in the hallways. The amenities are beautiful and nice don't get me wrong but I've stayed at multiple student livings apartments in Charlotte that were not near as fancy but I still had a much better living experience. During your tour they will only show you the pretty camera ready areas, request to look at other floors. read more

Rush is a terrible place to live. From cockroaches, gunshots heard outside terrible visitor parking, awful staff, and racist security guards that use the hard "er" when describing another staff member. I would not recommend anyone to live here. I constantly feel unsafe while living here and the staff treat residents like absolute dirt. Also, half of the utilities are constantly out of service. This is not the worst place to live but it is far from the best. The parking deck is a hassle because people drive so crazy in it, the hallways are always either dirty or something is damaged, and there is never any visitor parking. It's close to campus which is one of the only pluses. The app to open the front and garage doors only ever half work and it took me a week to get wifi when I first moved in. This place is like if a hotel was converted into a frat house. Oh, and if you have a pet, do yourself a favor and find somewhere else to live. This place has a fire alarm go off about once a week and my dog is traumatized. read more

This place is my personal nightmare and I mean that. It is of my opinion that if I had stayed here any longer I would not have made it out. Where do I even start? When I moved in the apartment was filled to the brim with gnats. Yes, fruit flies as plentiful as the air itself. The smell of this apartment was unlike anything I've ever smelled and no amount of cleaning helped and I promise you we tried everything. It was there until the day I moved out. Not mention the toxic mold that fills the air so much that it began to line the walls of my complex and when I moved out completely covered the back of and destroyed a mirror that was on the wall. It also doesn't help that the vents on the ceiling blow air directly on your face at night when you're trying to sleep. Speaking of trying to sleep you won't with gunshots in the area, car theft, cars being towed, noisy traffic, leaf blowers at 6am. People trample around the hallways having parties and that I don't really mind. But the walls here are thinner than cardboard. We could constantly hear every word of conversations in the neighbors complexes. To reach my complex I had to walk what felt like a mile to get to it from the parking deck. Everything about this place is so absurd please do not live here if you have a single brain cell and want to have any happiness in your life. Oh and I forgot to mention that the WiFi barely functioned. A lot of times amenities would be close arbitrarily too. It's so bad that there's a Facebook page called "victims of rush" that has been around since the beginning of this complex being open. Oh and the provided couches in the living room area are visually appealing but ive never wanted to not sit on something so much in my life. It was the most uncomfortable thing ever. I promise you my experience is the tip of the iceberg. Ask any real person who has lived here. read more

The fire alarm is beyond annoying. The staff do not fix issues that are brought to their attention. There are about 30 visitor parking spaces for over 600 residents and they have towing signs in spaces near the property where visitors would be able to park. The only good thing about Rush is the furniture and the utilities being included. Also, the security do nothing. Persons steal doormats, door hangings and break in cars weekly. Stay here if you want something cheap! Overall, the management is terrible and everyone should report them to the BBB. read more

By far a better experience living at Rush over M1. I feel safer in the apartment complex and never have to worry about the gates being broked for the parking garage. The maitance people are very nice and quick to fixing things. Not to mention the 4 bedroom layout has decently sized bedrooms. read more

This is my first year at college, and living at rush made the whole process so nice for me. Living in my own space and having my own room and bathroom made it so adjustable! The perks of rush are amazing, and the staff is so friendly! I currently have not had any issues with rush what so ever!! Second year living at rush and I am already signed for another. You can not beat the distance to campus, friendly staff, and amenities. Maintenance is very friendly and requests are usually resolved within a week. However the hallways and staircases tend to be dirty and are not cleaned often. In addition the guest parking is often completely full which can become a hassle for anyone trying to visit me. read more

I was excited to move here and while there are many pros, there are also many cons. They claim to have great security, but multiple cars get stolen out of the parking garage without the security guards noticing--my car included. The fire alarm for the entire property is SO sensitive and goes off almost weekly at the worst times. One time it went off due to the weather? Not to mention that that alarm is way too loud. On the maintenance side of things, they are hit or miss. The guys are always super nice, prompt, and efficient, but sometimes they do not do the most quality work. I needed a door handle replaced and when I got back home it was only half-way fixed. If you get home in the evening, count on taking a hike back to your room because you'll probably have to park on the 4th or 5th floor, which is inconvenient for people who live on the first floor. Do not even get me started on visitor parking. This is a very large complex with multiple residents living in most rooms. It does not make sense to only have a hand full of visitor parking spots. On the positive side, I enjoy my room, closet space, having my own bathroom, study room, fitness center, pool, amazon hub, valet trash, and vending machines. It is too bad that since security has been slack, I haven't felt safe here. read more

Not a good time. Unprofessional and petty manager. Dirty, Noisy, a party hub, and everything about rush is absolutely fake and an illusion to pull kids here. It's so overpriced for the experience you are getting and prices are literally raising constantly!! The parking garage is a mess because of the demographics these kids are zooming and turning sharp corners it's dangerous. Not to mention the amount of trash and puke all over the place. The fire alarms go off ALL THE TIME. "Security" just sits in the lobby and doesn't monitor anything just watches me when I use the amazon hub lol. A friend has had their car broken into to and nothing can be done of course. The maintenance staff is good and the amazon hub is a nice feature. There is more wrong than right though be cautious! And If an office worker replies to this, just remember, they are spewing absolute trash because that is their job but they are ok with doing it as well. read more

The staff is barely helpful and ultimately they've made it their mission to make living here as inconvenient as possible... there are only certain times where you can pick up packages and then as Danielle mentioned. I've lived here for two years, take it from me DO NOT LIVE HERE. Rush Student Living does not care about you. The whole place is such a facade of luxury and safety. You think that pool looks nice? I think so too:) I love looking at it from outside the gates around it where it's all chained up. Since Rush deleted my bad review and I feel so strongly about this place I'm writing my review again. There are 20 parking spots for visitors for the ENTIRE building. Then they decided to get rid of 3 spots to make it future resident parking. Visitors are not even allowed to park there at night when NO future resident would be there or else you get towed and have to pay $250. Not to mention my friend got held at gunpoint and got her car stolen in the same parking garage. This place is disgusting. The floors are all stained with god knows what. The front office is rude and unhelpful. They've had to change management twice this school year. I've never met anyone who has said something good about this place. They also have a fire alarm routine check that goes on for over an hour at 8am when students have classes. This is the last apartment you or your child should be at if you're concerned about safety, cleanliness, staff, parking, or overall comfortable living. read more
