Our Story... Our central air wasn't working so we called Rusk hoping to get a technician out to fix our issue.  Judy scheduled our appointment for the next day but called us back and advised that she could get us in that day if we were available.  We welcomed the earlier appointment.   They sent Brock (we think that was his name). He was very professional and pleasantly explained that we likely needed a new unit.  He was empathetic and set the tone for a positive experience.  Enter Steve Morrison.. Steve was extremely knowledgeable, personable, and went the extra mile in surveying our entire home (how many windows, how tall the ceilings are, etc.) to determine the best system for us.  His quote arrived shortly after our interaction and when we posed questions, he responded almost immediately.  We landed on agreeable terms and Steve advised that he'd get our equipment ordered and someone would call us to schedule. Three days later we got a call to begin our installation on the next day.  We were in the midst of a string of hot humid days so we were pleased that they worked us in so quickly during a time of peak demand.  Steve #2 arrived at 7:30 on Friday morning.  He worked quickly and methodically.  He ran into road blocks, and worked his way through.  He provided helpful updates, and answered questions with ease.  Steve went above and beyond to care for our home in a way that we admired. Shoe covers, tarps, all without prompting. We really appreciated his diligence in this area. When it was apparent that he might not complete the job by the end of day, Steve pushed through to make sure our weekend would not be miserably hot and sticky.  As he prepared to leave he provided instructions for the operation of the unit until Monday, outlined the tasks he planned to complete on Monday, and asked if 7:30 was a good start time.  We expected to see him on Monday at 7:30.  We had a great weekend in our newly cooled home.  We prepared to welcome Steve at 7:30 on Monday... our workdays began to ramp up and we lost track of time.  We got a call just after 1:00pm and the scheduler asked if he could send someone over at that time.  I explained that we were expecting Steve that morning and he advised that Steve likely didn't know his schedule... this was the first interaction that was contrary to our expectations. Nick arrived shortly after.  Like everyone we'd interacted with, Nick was very pleasant.  My husband asked questions about the tasks Steve identified on Friday.  Nick was eager to continue the installation to our satisfaction, but there were a couple of notes missing in the transition.  He didn't know to secure the unit to the brackets, which was pretty important in our opinion and left fewer filters than previously expressed. We called the office to inquire about the transition and Steve Morrison came back out to ensure that everything was done correctly, and according to Rusk standard. We really appreciated the reassurance. Nobody likes to pay handsomely for unexpected replacement costs, but we feel good about our experience, and the new relationship we've formed with Rusk. read more

my furnace died in December during a major cold snap. Rusk sent a service tech out on a Saturday morning to diagnose the issue, and unfortunately it was not worth repairing. Within 2 hours there was a representative here to help me order a new furnace. The price was great, the service was great, everyone I worked with was a credit to the business. I had a yearly agreement for them to come out to service my system. When about a year into C19, they came out for the service, the technician stopped at the front door and let me know I had to put on a mask. I let him know I didn't wear masks when I went out, and I surely wasn't going to wear a mask in my own home, I would make sure I kept at least 6 feet from him at all times, but I wasn't going to be dictated to in my own home. I had a cracked drain pan on my evaporator coil. While I can concede that this seemed easy it was labor intensive but the cost was ridiculous. The technician consistently tried to add cost to the job by recommending unneeded replacement and then suggesting there was a leak in the system when there clearly wasn't. $89 for an A/C service call in which the technician did nothing. I knew I likely had a refrigerant leak, but the man did no diagnostic testing or anything else, just took my word for it. He was, however, very eager to get a sales guy out the very next morning to talk about replacing my system. The costs I was quoted for various items related to repair were also much higher than other places I spoke with. I'm not sure why I should pay for a service call when there is no service even provided. Feel like I was rip off. read more

So I live in one of those old but beautiful historic homes with plaster walls (cold in winter and hot in summer ok y'all) and when the heat suddenly stops working, I panic. I call and they take my information and promise that I'm next on the service list for the afternoon. Now imagine this, I see the thermostat dropping, 67, 65, 63, I add on a headband and a fleece vest and bring a space heater into the living room for my overly spoiled canine. One hour after placing my phone call, a technician, Brock, shows up at my door. Praise Jesus. He immediately inspects the system, checks that fancy red blinking light and well, he has a solution -- yes! No more than 30 minutes later, problem solved, heat restored, faith renewed. Service was quick, efficient, friendly, courteous and very reasonably priced ($89 for the service call + services rendered). Brock is an all-star y'all, no doubt! I purchased a social coupon for a Rusk furnace inspection and tune-up after the unit at my shop began to rattle badly. The service was excellent, the guy they sent out even waited patiently for 40 minutes while I finished up another appointment (I had double booked.) My furnace turned out to be a complete disaster, with many components not functioning properly and some not functioning at all. There were shingles from the roof in all wrong places and a pipe responsible for sending the "exhaust" up and out the roof vent wasn't even hooked up. I told him I had been getting headaches while at the store and he explained they were likely due to carbon monoxide. He seemed genuinely concerned for my safety and very knowledgeable about my furnace. When he was done it looked like a new unit, with no audible rattles and his assurance that emissions from the furnace were being vented properly. I can only imagine how long I have been sitting in the same room with a dangerous unit like that! Thank you Rusk! read more

We weren't expecting the boiler to our radiator system to go out, and when it did, we actually called someone else first. After determining that it had to be replaced (cracked tank on a 30+ year old system), we nearly died when we heard the cost. So, we called and emailed around to several other places to get quotes. Steve, the owner, emailed me back within 30 minutes on a Saturday evening, and after sending him pictures, gave us a quote right over email. He came over personally after church the next day to verify the quote, and got us on the schedule in a week. When it came time for the actual job, everyone worked incredibly hard. They were on time, kept their workspace clean (and even swept the floor and corners where I didn't have time to get the cobwebs out!), and they went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect with our new system. These guys are not only professionals, but they are honest and will answer all of your questions in detail. For us, he didn't try to upswell us because the upsell would've caused our old radiators to get too hot, which is something the other companies neglected to tell us. AC was barely functional during last week's 95+ heat wave. I had been "rebooting" the computer controlled zoned heat/cool system with increasing frequency, and expected that I was going to need a replacement motherboard. Dave (tech) spent over an hour determining source of problem, and finally contacted supplier of computer control system. We were looking at 2 expensive options ($1400 -- 2000). As he was packing up to leave, he noticed a blinking red light that had "drain" printed next to it. Clogged drain turned out to be the culprit, causing the system to shut down when the condensation tray tripped the moisture indicator. In the 5 days since, system has been purring right along. Extended service call cost less than $300. I was so thrilled, I signed up for an annual service contract when I called owner/pres Steve Morrison to praise Dave's work. This is a 4th generation operation, and the expertise and loyalty of people like Dave are what make that make that longevity possible. read more

We received very poor service. Our repairman made an emergency service call and charged 150.00 because the furnace was on when initially it was off. We were advised that since the furnace was now working he was unable to ascertain the cause of non working condition. It went out again and we called another furnace repair service after it did the same thing (off then coming back on). He advised us of the memory board going out as well as other things, We are now just going to purchase a new furnace but feel that Repairman could have done more than switch the furnace on and off for several times and say that nothing was wrong and left. If 24 hour service was not available in our area I feel we should have been advised. I thought Dr. Rusk was based on christian values not rip off values. I can remember many years ago seeing Dr. Rusk advertisements on tv. We are seniors who are paying our bills for services rendered and feel we have been done a great unjustice. Mrs. Bonner read more
