There are not enough words in the world to fully express the gratitude I feel for Dr. Amini. From…read morethe very first appointment to my recovery, this extraordinary human being demonstrated the highest level of skill, compassion, and dedication I have ever witnessed in any medical professional. I came to him in one of the scariest, most uncertain times of my life. My condition was complex and I was filled with fear. From the moment I met Dr. Amini I felt something I hadn't felt in a long time -- hope. His calm, confident demeanor was matched by an incredible ability to explain what was going on, what needed to happen, and how we would tackle it together. I immediately knew I was in the best hands possible. The surgery (a Whipple procedure) itself was nothing short of miraculous. What others saw as a high-risk, complicated case, he approached with meticulous precision and unwavering confidence. He not only performed the operation flawlessly, but he did so with a level of care and foresight that I truly believe made all the difference in my outcome. The post-operative care I received was equally exceptional. Although, I weeks in the hospital Dr. Amini checked in constantly, listened to my concerns, and always made me feel heard and respected. This isn't just a surgeon who performs procedures -- this is someone who sees the whole person, who fights for their patients with everything he's got, and who genuinely cares. It's rare and remarkable. I will never forget it Thanks to Dr. Amini, I am here and alive. I get to work, achieve my goals, and live my life again. all because of his expertise, heart, and l unwavering commitment to his patients. If you are looking for a surgeon who specializes in pancreatic issues Dr. Amini is the best and someone who combines world-class medical excellence with amazing bedside manner. He is the absolute best -- a true hero in every sense of the word. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. Dr. Amini gave me my life back. In addition, his staff is incredible! From the moment you walk in the doors you feel welcomed. All staff members treat you with respect which rare to find in the medical profession!

At my last visit to the hospital for a small blocked bowel, the attending surgeon told me he needed to see me in 10 days and that we needed to find out what keeps causing the problem. I googled him and read the Doctor's Yelp review, it was only 3 and a half stars. I'm sure he's a good Doctor, but I wanted a great and out of this world Doctor. So, I punched "small blocked bowel" into google; only one Doctor's name came up, Dr. Ghazanfari. Then I read his Yelp reviews; they were outstanding. I gave his office a call and the rest is history. He lived up to his reviews. When I showed up to his office, he had already studied my visits to the ER, and came up with a plan for me. I was to go to get a diagnostic laparoscopy. Before, I went for my laparoscopy on July 12th, Dr. Ghazanfari prepared me for the upcoming laparoscopy. He told me of the best that could happen (quick fix) or the worst outcome (tumor/taking out a section of intestine). Thankfully, it was an easy fix! I've learned that bedside manner is a good thing, but not always necessary. One of the most important things for a Doctor to have is genius or maybe intuition? I'm happy to say that Dr. Ghazanfari has both! Not only that, he has an excellent bedside manner! Sorry, I took so long. But, I'm a very sickly person with bizarre illnesses. I'm sure there are many like me out there. So I wanted to put a great, big, flashing arrow towards Dr. Ghazanfari if you have a small blocked bowel or any problem internally.

I was unsuccessful in reaching my person I needed, so I called her back to let her know that if she tells patients they are directing their calls to the wrong, area she should also provide them with a solution ex: tell them where to dial and that she was extremely rude. She then said, "your agent is ready do you want me to transfer you now?" I said "I'd like you to not be rude and then transfer me nicely!" She then said "oh, sweetie, I hope you have an amazing day!" I filled out the pre surgery paperwork, noting that I was allergic to OxyContin, Percocet and any other opioid. Not because I have an addiction issue, but because I am actually allergic to them. Like deathly allergic. I am also allergic to penicillin. I appreciate that they were also very transparent about the co-pay costs ahead of time. When I got there first thing in the morning the they quickly ran through the paperwork with me and I advised them that they didn't have my allergies listed. They corrected that and gave me a wristband noting them. A very nice girl then whisked me back to pre-op noting my wrist band and asking me to verify what my allergies were. When she put me on a gurney and gave me a warm blanket I noticed it had some gummy residue substance on it which caused me to raise my eyebrows. After that the anesthesiologist came in and gave me a rundown on what he was going to do which was reassuring. Then I met Dr Damore who barely looked at me while he gave me a rundown on what he was going to do during the procedure, and then in front of the nurse told me that he would make sure to prescribe me a minor opioid (I forget the specific brand) afterward to help with the pain. I told him that was a hard negative, holding up my wristband and saying I had already advised them at least twice that I couldn't take them. He finally looked up at me and said "Oh, well then alternate ibuprofen and acetaminophen every few hours for it." At that point I almost walked out but I was there so I said screw it, let's do this. The surgery went well. The day after my surgery I got a call from my pharmacy advising me that my (I'm deathly allergic to it) pain medication was all ready to be picked up. To say this troubles me is an understatement.

Everything looked new and maintained well, so I can see why they transitioned to this office. Upon check in, you will be directed to take a urine sample typically and then take a seat in the lobby as you await to be taken to a room. The bathroom is on the right hand side after the desk. It is much farther back than you realize, and don't want you entering the wrong room! Especially since there is a room labeled L and M, which I initially thought could be Ladies and Men. Oops! The lobby is spacious and seats 20+ people. The chairs are spacious if you wanted to spread out as Covid is still prevalent at times, plus any nasty bugs going around. I personally like to social distance though this is a normal practice to come in sick sick. Overall, it was pretty comfortable while you wait and I did enjoy the third level views from the windows that bring in natural light. As for the type of care and care quality, I must say they have some exceptional staff!!! Donna Bouley N.P. was absolutely amazing this visit! Extremely thorough in reviewing family history, my chart, and tailoring prescription to exactly what I need. She also advocated for me to be able to schedule and see a surgeon for a consult for something I've been trying to advocate for myself for over a decade. Truly appreciative of the care received at this office this week, and all the past visits as they diagnosed a tumor and have been great monitoring it. I cannot recommend them enough!

Her last chemo was over three weeks ago. She saw Dr Mario Pineda on May 21. He canceled her current chemo as her cancer had spread. We went over my wife's next course of action and decided which drug she would be using for her chemo. She went the following week for an echocardiogram the Dr ordered. On May 28 a nurse from Ironwood called me to make sure I had received the Rxs they had sent in and we went over them. Nothing else was discussed. We went for her pre chemo labs on June 2. On June 3, less than 34 hours before her chemo treatment, a lady called me and said, "this is just a reminder of her appointment tomorrow and that her copay $2500. Less than a day away. This is the third time that Ironwood has done this to us. They had over two weeks to find these things out but did nothing. The lady that called me had obviously been selected as the gopher. She told me they were way behind and she was told to call me. I told her I didn't care and her problem wasn't my problem. I was beyond pissed. This wasn't about the money, no other options were discussed and I know if I were to pay $2500 I would never get my money back after patient assistance paid. This is a perfect reason why I always wanted to be the contact person because I didn't want my wife to have to go through more. I can tell you this isn't the first time and I'm sure it won't be the last. I got in my car and drive to the Chandler office. I told the lady at the front desk I was there to sign papers for patient assistance for this drug. After waiting fifteen minutes the lady said there were papers and asked me if I had a POA. I told her that I had brought the POA there at least three times. I asked her what did they do with them? I told her that all Ironwood is concerned with is $$$$. They never call to see how my wife is doing they only call to tell us how much money to bring to her appointments. I have had Simone, an office manager, help me with several issues recently. She is one of the few bright spots at Ironwood. I took another copy of a POA and signed the Patient Assistance form last Thursday. I haven't heard anything yet, just waiting and the clock is ticking. It will be at least 4 weeks between treatments. They called Friday that the Dr had ordered another echocardiogram test? She just had one two weeks ago. She went last week for labs that were never needed. That will have to be rescheduled too. Trust me when is say, I've thought many times about changing from Ironwood but when you read the reviews it doesn't get much better. My wife even got a call from a nurse that told her, "maybe you'd be better off going somewhere else." Who says that to a patient with terminal cancer? I'm done but I hope if you're concerned for your loved one that you seriously consider your choices first. Thanks Simone for all you help, you're the best!

I figured I would just walk in and make an appointment since it's literally right across the street from my neighborhood. There was a lady outside who I asked what time they opened and she said 8:00. So I came in and the lady from outside was now behind the counter. I believe her name was Cece. I asked if I could make an appointment for a surgery evaluation, and she said, "oh we don't make appointments in person, you have to call" I feel like she was either having a bad morning and I thought she was kinda rude so I just left. I went and got in my car and contemplated calling for an appointment or just finding a different spot because of the treatment I received. But all of a sudden, there she was standing at my passenger door telling me she could get me an appointment. Her entire attitude had changed and she became much more pleasant. She said the person that normally sets appointments was not there yet but she wanted to get me taken care of anyway. I don't know if the correct person wasn't there or if Cece WAS the correct person, and quite honestly, I didn't and I don't care. The fact that she did a course correction and changed up her entire demeanor to be very nice and friendly was amazing in my opinion and I appreciated it. She took what could have been a bad day and turned it into a great one. When I asked my physician what approaches typically help patients with my condition improve their sleep, I was immediately told to "see a psychiatrist," which felt dismissive and unrelated to my actual question. I shared this concern with the director of neurology, hoping for a more thoughtful response. At my next visit, I felt reprimanded rather than supported. The physician emphasized that they do not prescribe sleep medication, despite the fact that I had not requested any. I was simply seeking guidance on evidence‑based strategies that might help patients with my specific neurological disorder. I also asked further questions about determining my progression of the condition and other topics a 'specialist' should know of, not in this case. They told me I can go online to a company that can test my markers, but they cannot. I was baffled. This experience did not reflect the level of care I expect or need.
