It's also time to start planting my Spring and Summer gardens so it was a good time to visit this place that I have heard about for years but never been to. Fort Worth is off my beaten path, but it sounded like it was going to be worth the trip, and it was. There is an ambiance about the place that puts you right at home. It's an old school vibe that takes you back to 1934 when Archie Sr. founded the place. They have a nursery and also a landscape division, so if you are not a do-it-yourself person, they can take care of things for you. When you park and enter in, the first thing that hits you sit he size of the place, it's huge! They have an amazing selection and it is accompanied by fantastic customer service. And these are just nice friendly folks, they are extremely knowledgeable and can pretty much help you with any horticultural or landscaping need.

At no time did the nursery staff say that the plants may have been treated with pesticides. I thought nurseries had stopped using pesticides on milkweed because it is the only host plant for critically endangered Monarch's butterfly. Lesson learned. Sadly, the plants from Calloway's are treated with pesticides. They are not butterfly safe. I lost 30 Monarch caterpillars in one day. They do have a good return policy. I was able to return all of the poisoned plants.

This is a note regarding my experience with the owner of the location when she sent a private…read moremessage and invited us to come back in spring when their inventory is larger as well as to request that I remove a photo that I had placed on the original review. The photo wasn't of anything bad or wrong, it was not misleading or a misrepresentation, it was a legitimate photo of the outside area of the location that she says is shared with a landscaping company, tho what landscape company I do not know. The reasoning stated to me was that the landscaping company didn't want the photo of their area published. The photo was of the locations surroundings just as any Google maps search would provide, so it's not anything that can't be seen anyway. It showed their "shared space" which being "shared" still makes it part of this businesses space which serves as sort of a parking area. The rating on this review is based on the point of contact by the owner to manipulate the initial review by requesting removal of a photo that is a true representation of what is surrounding the business, part of their "shared space", this removes what is also a visual to allow others to find this out of the way place that is not on any main road. I don't feel it is appropriate for a business to private message a Yelp member for the sole purpose of manipulating what is on the review.

Staff is super nice and helpful. We've been here a few times, always looking for more Desert Rose plants, this trip they had a lot, some blooming, but the cost has gotten crazy. Inside the main building they sale a lot of Mexican style pots and tiles and other lawn deco. All are very bright and vibrant colored.

I looked around but couldn't find so I asked the lady there if they had one by chance. The lady didn't even look at me and just said "we don't have it if you don't see it"... I mean, I am asking because I see too many plants and maybe I am not looking the right section ? What kind of customer service is that? I left quickly after. There is another big nursery just down the street and there everyone was so nice and I felt more welcoming. And I was able to find the flower there!
