I am disappointed with the high price I had to pay on the back end. I hoped I got my price per piece of clothes on the front end. When I went to pick up my clothes I had to pay $320.00 The reason I did not get my price on the front end is because I was dropping clothes off on my way to work and did not want to be late for work. Lesson learned. I am going back to Van's cleaners and alterations on Carrollton Ave. The same amount of clothing and my clothes were pressed and cleaned to my liking for a measly $141.00. Again lesson learned and stick to what you been doing some times change is not good when no errors are made and you are pleased. read more

I have been going to Russell's since the 1980's, lovely ladies working there, so helpful and great dry cleaning!

They ruined my rug. It was returned with two cuts straight through the rug, about 5 to 6 inches in length, and a giant dark greasy stain across the back. When I called to inform them of this, they refused to do anything about it unless I surrendered the rug to them (~$600 retail value), in which case they'd give me a refund for the ~$250 I paid for the cleaning. They were rude and completely disinterested, ZERO customer service skills, and even got an attitude with me when I explained that I'm not interested in giving them the rug. The woman I was trying to work with to find a resolution just laughed at me when I asked if this "policy" was a hustle. Also, the guy that initially came to pick up my rug asked if he could have the tarp I had it wrapped in (12x12 brand new). When I said no, he said he had to take it, then proceeded to shop around my courtyard asking if he could have different items he was seeing. Shockingly, the tarp was not returned with the rug (please note the sarcasm). And, when he dropped off the rug after "cleaning" it (that thing came back smelling strongly of farts, but no more cat pee so I guess there's that), he began looking around my home asking if he could have some of the things he was seeing. All in all, don't go to this place. They boast their long time service of the New Orleans area, but what you get is just that. I'd have faired better buying a stolen rug off the street from that shady lookin' guy in the van who may or may not get arrested mid-transaction. read more

Whew. I had Russell's clean my favorite rug and it looks beautiful. It came back to me in perfect condition...minus dog urine so Yay! (hazards of an elderly canine companion). Let me clarify this is not really the rug location; you're supposed to head out to Metairie, but because of confusion on my part and that my rug wasn't too big (about 5x5) and that I was already there, they took it. It was ready sooner than I was promised and was delivered back to the Tulane location, saving me a trip to Metry. The confusion was that I was looking for Klein's which used to be down the block (and I had used them previously, pre-K) and when I called the Klein's number (found on the internets), I just asked what time they closed. Turns out Russell's bought Klein's and that I wasn't paying attention to the name when they answered. Hilarity ensued...OK, not hilarity but y'know life isn't a sit-com. Price was reasonable and I'm a happy camper and so is my dog as she is currently lounging on the newly cleaned rug. read more

As a kid, you hardly pay attention of even think about cleaners and why people are so adamant about the ones they choose. I was that way until I got older and began to purchase more quality garments, and colors that can be difficult to maintain. That being said, I love this cleaners. They're friendly, diligent, and fair priced. I had an all white Polo shawl that had gotten blue-stained on the inner arm pits from an under shirt that bled onto it. Honestly I forgot about the stain for months until I went to wear it again and noticed it. I thought it would never come out being how long it had set in. Well one drop off to the cleaners and they made easy work of it! Looks like the day I took it from the shelf. I'm completely sold on Russell's after the last load of dry cleaning I took to them. I had a mystery stain on the seat of one of my trousers. I had no clue what it was, no clue when or where I got it, no clue how long it had been there. But the stain was 100% GONE when I came to pick them up (plus 7 other items) a few days later. The staff is always professional and efficient --- and very good at spotting mystery stains! It is conveniently located for me to stop through before or after work. Their 5:30pm close times makes it a little tight to get there, but their early opening and Saturday hours make up for that. I have yet to use any of their services other than dry cleaning, but I like being able to have it all under one roof. My comforter could use a cleaning very soon, and I will be taking it to Russell's without a doubt! read more

Now I am usually quite reticent of writing a review after only one visit, but I'm making an exception here as it is such a major factor in my day to day life. FIrstly, the staff is very pleasant and helpful. A first for the dry cleaners I have visited. Secondly, they actually differentiate between 'dry cleaning' and 'laundry', another rarity in New Orleans Dry cleaning. The prices are in line with other cleaners I have used. They accommodated my need for a speedy cleaning. They apparently offer all sorts of cleaning services. The spot is located on the corner of Jeff Davis and Tulane, lake side. I will enthusiastically return a second time with a larger number of items. I have high hopes and a certain amount of faith that they will hold up. read more

Got the stains out of a pair of pants and a skirt. Prices were as quoted (about $8 each) and ready on time. Took about 3 days. I was very impressed that everything is computerized, which indicates that things are more organized and get lost less. Most importantly, my clothes smelled clean and not like chemicals. I love this place. Super friendly, convenient, and they do an awesome job each time. There's no dedicated parking, but you can typically grab a spot on Tulane Ave (despite the construction). Entrance is on the Tulane side. You're immediately greeted by two long counters and racks to put your clothing on. The workers are very adept in spotting stains! Typically the clothes will be ready in about 2 business days, unless it's a big job or they're closed for a holiday. They have pretty good hours though! They're reasonably priced and a well established, family owned cleaner. They take care of my Trashy Diva and know my name when I stop in. So far I've made two visits to Russell's and every item has been been returned, and returned spotless. The prices are decent, considering how overpriced most are. The hours of operation are not accommodating to the 8-5 person, unless you're willing to wake up earlier and detour for the 7:30 am opening or avoid taking lunch to get off earlier to pick up before 4:30 pm. DO NOT USE! Their chemicals ruined my dry cleaning. Here is a copy of the post I wrote for The Clothes Spin, a business that outsources to Russell's: I don't understand how businesses like this even exist. I'm not a big yelper, but I've been wanting to write a review about this place just to warn women about the sexual harassment from the employees here. Now that they've ruined my dry cleaning without offering to compensate me, I figured it was about time. I dropped off a jumpsuit for dry cleaning. I went to pick it up on the day it was supposed to be ready. They told me it would be awhile longer. After I pick it up and take it home, I unwrap my suit and the material is completely ruined. Chemicals they used had eaten through the fabric. I take it back to them. They tell me it's not their responsibility because they're just a middleman and that the company they use is responsible for me. Also, they knew about it and didn't call me and just sold it back to me without a word (the company they used told me). They did not offer me a solution besides to try to return it to the store that I bought it from. When I call the company, Russell's Cleaning Services, they told me that they followed the directions on the tag and that it's not their responsibility. I go to look for the tag, and it's been cut off!! They offered for me to pay another $40 to send it to Florida for an assessment as to why it was ruined. As for the lecherous vibe here, the workers and what seems to be their friends hanging out here will just stare women down without even the respect to look away when their gaze is met. I asked some of the neighbors about this place and one person told me that he wouldn't let his wife go there alone. A lady told me that I shouldn't wear shorts or tank tops in there, that she covers her body when she goes in there to do laundry. I've used this cleaners for a couple years now. But the past year I feel like they have just gotten too comfortable. I'm a weekly cleaner because I'm a busy person! Here lately I have gotten bleach stains on pants, missing drawstrings out of sweat pants (Louis Vuitton & several other name brands) and the list goes on! The staff at Russell's are very kind and professional. The service is prompt and the dry-cleaning is top quality. Parking can be cumbersome, but if you can figure out the non peak times, it is worth it. Ask the staff they can tell you the non peak times. The alterations are beautifully done. I had a really bad, expensive experience, and you should stay away from Russell's for carpet cleaning. I paid $900 to have a rug cleaned and deodorized. It was wasted money, and the rug is no longer useable. After the first cleaning was unsuccessful, had them come pick the rug up and try again. When I got it back the 2nd time, there was no improvement. In addition there were rug handling machine gouges in several places on the rug, making the rug totally useless. Been a long time customer and have always been satisfied with Russell's service. Russell's did a great job removing a very bad spill I had on a favorite dress. I did pay an extra fee for stain removal but it was well worth it.....stains came out and dress looks great again! I've found my cleaners! I have used this cleaners several times now and my clothes have been returned looking clean, never dingy, every time. They have gotten spots out too. I first began taking my white dress shirts here due to convenience-- being just two blocks and walking distance from where I live. However, word on the street says that they're the best at what they do. After several visits, I must say that I agree! When I enter a dry cleaner's, I like to experience that vintage aura, like someone's grandmother is in the back starching the tuxedo pants. At Russel's, that feeling radiates within. I dropped off several miscellaneous items: my older black pea coat and a beautiful vintage kimono I bought from an antique shop that I worked at in Virginia. I was incredibly impressed with the service. My pea coat returned looking brand-new and my kimono was luxurious looking! It's quite obvious that lots of pride goes into the work done here at Russel's. As long as I live in Mid-city, they will continue to be my primary choice for a dry cleaners. read more

Russell's is my neighborhood cleaners, located about 4 blocks from where I live. That's pertinent because when I moved into the 'hood 3 years ago, I didn't have to travel far to find a reliable operation that could handle my clothes, mostly my shirts, which they clean and press perfectly. So it's been a regular stop for me every 2 weeks or so. My clothes are always ready on time, they've done next day rush on a suit for me when I had a funeral pop up one time. My only complaint is their hours; it's difficult for me to get there before 5:30 on weekdays but they are open until 12:30 on Saturdays. read more

Based on YELP reviews I took a favorite woolen sweater in last April before storing it during the hot and humid months. Looked beautiful and a reasonable price. Returned in November when the weather turned cold to have them clean a small boiled wool cloche hat. Was in a hurry, so they may have given me a price at the time and I don't remember. But when I picked it up, I went into sticker shock: $18.00 ! More than the hat had originally cost. Recommendation - always get the price when dropping items off. It may be that the work done on my hat justified the expense, but I'll be more selective about what I take to them in the future. read more

I can't say enough about how wonderful my first experience was! I brought in a king-sized comforter that my dog had "marked" on (thanks a lot, Elroy!) and a down jacket that hadn't been cleaned since I bought it. I expected a bit of a wait, since I dropped the items off the Wednesday before thanksgiving and both items needed significant attention. I've used this place for over a year & was previously happy. However, the last few months have been awful & the prices astronomical ($18 for 1 plain sweater & 1 white blouse). They returned them in the same condition I had left them but with a few extra stains (I don't think they even cleaned them) and were very reluctant to re-wash them free of charge. I finally went back to pick them up today and the blouse was so strongly starched (despite my account saying "no starch") that my previously once-worn, super-soft, Equipment blouse now feels like parchment paper. Furthermore, the black dress pants I had them wash and press were pressed with a crease parallel to their normal crease....so my suit pants now have this cool double crease look. How many times can I say WOW!!! Fantastic! Wonderful! A million times WOW!!! I took in my Mother's VINTAGE, AUTHENIC WWII NAVY W.A.V.E.S. Uniform which included a lined jacket and a lined skirt both made out of wool. It looked brand new when I picked it up a few days later. At the same time, her WWII NAVY W.A.V.E.S. hat for enlisted women was also brought in. The hat has two parts - a white top which covers your head and the navy blue brim, plus a ribbon that had the orginial wording of "U.S. NAVY' wrapped around where the two parts are attached. When I brought it in, the top part was dark brown with stains. The bottom brim part was flithy. And, the ribbon was tattered. It looked like 70 years had past, plus Katrina. They were honest and told me to leave the hat for a few weeks and they would do the best they could. Well, when I picked it up, they had put this special WWII hat inside a hat box that they furnished and stuffed it with tissue paper to keep its shape. WOW!!! I opened the box and it looked brand new. There are no other words to say THANK YOU for the time and effort and TLC that RUSSELL'S CLEANERS chose to do such an OUTSTANDING and LOVELY job. THANK YOU seems so inadequate, but it comes from my heart. What a remarkable job RUSSELL'S CLEANERS did for an historical piece of clothing!!! Russell's has come through again for me! I brought a formal in to be cleaned and we noticed when I dropped it off that there were drink spills all over. When I picked it up all the stains had been successfully removed and the dress looked great! There was an additional charge for stain removal but it was well worth it. I couldn't even convince myself to give Russell's Dry Cleaners 1 Star but postings aren't allowed with ZERO STARS. Well, I switched over to Russell's from my normal dry cleaners who was burning the buttons on my dress shirts. Used Russell's for about 2 Months and found a $140.00 dress shirt that was only worn once with a whole burned in the sleeve and random black spots all over the shirt. Called to complain to the owner and never got a call back. Within the next 30 days I found 2 other dress shirt that were FITTED valued at $60.00 each that were over-pressed/over-heated (according to the manufacturer) to the point that they were no longer FITTED and looked 2 sizes too big - ruined! Called to speak with the manager AGAIN, took him 1 Week to call back and all he did was try to blame me. He finally swallowed his pride and agreed to credit my "auto-billed" credit card which after 3 Weeks still never happened but somehow my next bill was increased by 25% over the normal bill for the same quantity of clothing - go figure - Yes, we all see how this works!?!?!?!? Well, low and behold, 6/1/18, I slide on another nice FITTED dress shirt valued $70.00 that was purchase just 3 Weeks ago and worn twice and once again over-pressed/over-heated (according to the manufacturer) and fits like a sack of potatoes. Call Russell's Dry Cleaners for the manager to inquire about the lack / failure to reimbursement me from the first 3 shirts and to complain about the 4th shirt being damaged and to my surprise, the owner is not there again so here we are leaving another message in hopes of a call back. At this point, I'm out 4 shirts valued at $372.13 inc. Tax with no action taken from Russell's Dry Cleaning's management or ownership after weeks upon weeks of waiting for them to stand behind their word and reimburse me the value of the shirts. In short, if you want your clothes tortured by a Dry Cleaner with Absentee Management / Supervision, bad Quality Control and terrible customer service, Russell's is your shop.
