I'd been having recurring cylinder misfires for months. I'm no stranger to mechanical work and did…read moreeverything I could think of to resolve but needed another eye on it. We're 40+ mins away from the nearest BMW garage so I found Mike's Auto which is within 10 minutes. They specialize in import repair according to their site so I brought it in for a diagnostic. I just needed to know what they thought caused it and could probably do the repair myself. I'd already done turbos, O2 sensors, ECU, throttle body, Vanos, etc. The guys were very accommodating but communication was poor, I had to call for any updates or to find out they needed me to authorize a repair. Three weeks and $1800 later I pick up the car and don't even make it a mile before all the misfires come right back. This, despite their assurances that it was test driven multiple times. Right back I go. A week later I'm now told a catalytic converter was plugged and causing faulty readings for air/fuel mix, creating misfires. It made sense, the tech even sent me a video showing his gauge reading. He was confident. Cats were about the only thing I hadn't changed. They estimated 8-9 hours book rate so I took it home and installed some brand new cats myself (3 hours real time.) Car made it several miles this time before the same error messages appeared. So, the diagnosis was still incorrect. I won't be bringing it back. The guys tried hard but it's clear they don't possess any specific import knowledge or experience that will help me out. I've wasted $1800 to get back where I was a month ago, but with a pair of shiny new cats now. They're probably fine doing standard work like suspension or oil leaks but anything more complex seems beyond them.

She said to bring the car back if the light comes on again. To make the visit even more special, Lauren told me there would be "no charge". Holy Lucky Day, Batman. I was ecstatic. I admit, I cried when I drove away. I'm not usually that fortunate. Veteran's is a treasure. They were honest, fair and professional. From the moment I arrived, Jonathan greeted me warmly and made me feel confident that my vehicle was in good hands. He and his team are not only knowledgeable but also friendly and hospitable. They worked on several major issues with my truck and took the time to explain every detail along the way. Here's a quick breakdown of what was done: He replaced the rear brakes, rotors, brake hoses, and calipers. I had initially requested a brake fluid flush and fill, and to have my rear brakes and rotors changed, but the rear brakes weren't purging fluid. J and his team quickly got to work troubleshooting, inspecting the brake hoses, and discovering that they were clogged and that the caliper was seized. He sourced the parts and fixed the issue, all while showing me everything step by step to ensure I understood the problem and knew he wasn't making it up or anything like that. (He literally showed it to me) He also flushed and filled the fluids in both the front/rear differentials/transfer case. The engine coolant was flushed and replaced, and he even changed the spark plugs, showing me the worn condition of the old ones. He checked all the hoses and clips to ensure nothing else needed to be replaced and changed the serpentine belt, which was long overdue. Jonathan also took extra time to address the growing rust issue underneath my truck, showing me how bad it was and explaining a plan of action we could take to treat it and prevent further corrosion in the future, should I opt to bring it back to him. (I'm definitely going to come back for this) I was especially impressed with how honest and upfront he was about every repair. He explained everything clearly, showed me the worn-out parts, and never once tried to upsell me or cut corners. His prices are incredibly fair, and the quality of work is top-notch. Overall, Jonathan and his team provided excellent service in a timely manner, and I really appreciated his dedication to getting my truck maintenance up to date and ensuring it's safe for the road. The fact that he accepts all forms of payment.... Debit Card/Credit Card/Cash/Zelle was just an added convenience. If you're looking for an honest, skilled, and friendly mechanic who goes above and beyond, I highly recommend Jonathan and his shop. You know that feeling when your cars about to take a poop or you fear the worst- I call him up right away or message and he'll get back to me as soon as he can to give me his professional opinion without seeing the car. Sure I've went to other places that were more convenient and reputable, but always end up leaving unsatisfied and poor I've also been to the shop stressed out about how much a fix could cost where he tells me honestly that I don't need to do it right now instead of fixing something that ain't broke. Same happens to teens needing a first car and inexperienced or unsuspecting females being misled. For me, I offered their advertised price for a car (a law in Illinois), and they refuse to abide by the state statutes. The are giving us the silent treatment now.

I purchased a vehicle in cash from Ford of Lake Geneva on March 26, 2025. Living in IL, they said I…read morehad to wait 30 days before I would see my title since it had to go from WI to IL, then to me. On January 27, 2026, the IL Dept of Revenue sent me a late notice saying that they received my sales tax money late and there was a late fee. I called the IL Dept of Revenue and they said Ford of Lake Geneva was supposed to have the money in IL hands by April, 25, 2025 and they kept reaching out to them until June 5, 2025 when they finally received my taxes that I paid Ford of Lake Geneva back in March. At that point, a late charge incurred a penalty. The state of IL then followed up with Ford of Lake Geneva for the money only to be ghosted. IL Dept of Revenue reached out to me saying that I owed the money since the dealer has failed to pay them. I called the dealer and spoke to Cherie - the Partner/COO/Controller of Ford of Lake Geneva. She said that if I paid the state the money, she would send me a reimbursement check right away via a phone call. I then followed it up with an email. This is her response: From: Ford LG Tue, Feb 3 Hi. Thank you for your email. Please send the payment in and I will work on a check for you this week. The address on the letter is your current address correct? Cherie -- Thank you Ford Of Lake Geneva I followed up and was ghosted so I figured I better look into this company since I'm now out extra money for their issue. Looking at their BBB.org listing, someone had the exact same issue when they paid cash for a vehicle (not financed). Their title was sent very late to the state. This led me to look at the WI Circuit Court Access website in Walworth county for the business of Ford of Lake Geneva and all the management team (seen on their website). I'm in a very long list of people that they have had money issues with so I knew I had to move to making my request more official if I ever plan to be whole again. I got a follow up email after I opened the BBB.org complaint From: Ford LG Mon, Feb 9 Thank you for your email. A check has been issued to the address you enclosed in the previous email. I'm sorry for my delayed response, I was out last week with an illness. Look for the check in the mail sometime this week. Have a great day!! Cherie Still no check has been delivered from Ford of Lake Geneva and the state of Illinois has already cashed my check.
