When I tried Lumberjacks, I went to their Lake in the Hills site and got a small amount of wood. No reason to spend money if the wood sucks. I have to say, that wood consistently burned hot was easy to light and burned to ash. I used their wood to burn off the crappy wood I had accumulated. I highly recommend them. Only Con: they only take checks or cash, at least at the LITH location. I would encourage Lumberjacks to invest in Square or Paypal and step into the 21st century.

The guy dumps it on my driveway and presents me with a bill for about 2x what was quoted. I told him that's not what I was quoted and he says he is just the delivery man, call the office. I called and talked to the owner, the same guy that gave me the quote. He insists the bill is for what he quoted. I told him I don't know what he's trying to pull but he has a choice of either taking payment as he quoted, or come get the chips. He says he will come get them but then he will bill me for that. I told him I would not pay it and he said then he would sue me. I consulted with a lawyer friend who told me to send the guy a letter with a check for the quoted amount, and tell him to either accept the check as full and final mayment, or come get the chips within 48 hrs. He cashed the check, then sued me for the difference. I went to court and it was tossed out because the guy accepted the check. There were about 6 other people there, all being sued by Best Wood Judge (BWJ). One said he got a quote to take out a row of bushes, but hired someone else for the job. Then BWJ sent him a bill for coming out to quote. The customer said he was never told there was a charge to get a quote. BWJ said his time isn't free, and if he doesn't get hired then he has to get paid for his time to quote. That suit was tossed also. Another guy said BWJ gave him a quote to do some yard work and he accepted it. But the bill was twice as much as the quote. BWJ said that's because he quoted based on 2 men and when he started the job he decided he needed 4 men. The customer said that's his problem, he came out and inspected the job before quoting. But BWJ sued him. That one was tossed out as well. I think you get the idea what type of operation this is.

The service and quality of their work has always been exceptional. The prices are good for what they do. I highly recommend them. I tried to get limbs cut off my tree that were over my garage and near power lines. I called WE energies 4x's since I have lived here and I always got the run around from them and the limbs near the pole and over the garage had gotten out of hand. Affordable tree came out and they told me that they could do most of the work but leave the limb touching the wires. They just finished the job and as usual it was excellent work and what I was looking for them to do, they were able to do. Once again, I highly recommend them. Great people and excellent service.
