This place brings on pure nostalgia and will always be a fun and exciting experience. My husband and I came a few weeks back to watch The Santa Clause, another classic, and left content and smiling. The drive-in was easy and affordable and we had free range on choosing our parking spot. We ate dinner in our car while watching two movies back to back! I definitely recommend this place for a family/date night. Be careful while choosing a parking spot though because the pavement is extremely old and rugged.

Our view we waited 2 hours for

My fiancé has been coming to this drive in since she was little and she decided to show me for the first time and I can't even begin to explain what a disappointment this was. Went to see inside out 2 tonight and arrived two hours early so we could get the best seats... as we drove in we were told if we were putting our trunk up we could not park in the first two rows. We followed these rules and picked our spot. Ten minutes before the movie started multiple suvs parked in the first and second row with their trunks up and blocking our view. And the car in front of us had their high beams in our eyes until our neighbours asked them to turn it off because the staff wouldn't. We couldn't see the bottom half of the screen because people who showed up ten minutes early got to break the rules. I went to the guy who was directing traffic, mind you the whole staff was kids so it's not like I could have escalated to a "manager", the kid assured me that they would do a walk through before the movie started to make the suvs move to the back rows. I watched the kid do the walkthrough and not say a word to any of the suvs with their trunks up. I literally could not see the whole time. So now that I know your business doesn't enforce the rules, next time I will just park my jeep front row with the trunk up.

I was super psyched when planning our trip to RI, that we would come here one night, and we decided to experience our first drive in on day 1 of our mini vacation! We mapped it out, since we were staying in Chepachet, RI we ate dinner at the Beef Barn, and headed over for the 8:30 showtime. Despite what people mentioned, they did have new movies playing, and offer free double features (although my car couldn't even make it through the first movie) In driving from N. Smithfield (where the Beef Barn is located) to the movies, google maps showed a 7 minute arrival time. Somehow it took us totally out of the way, behind houses and a dead end. I am not sure how that happened as we used the yelp app to guide us but needless to say, kind pedestrians guided us and we made it with a few minutes to spare. I was uncertain as to how these drive in movies work... I get it you keep your radio on but I don't know how the battery doesn't die. I asked the guy who took our $27 and he just said we have a battery jumper if needed. I realized that nowadays everyone sits outside of the car, in lawn chairs with a portable radio. Who knew. Anyway you drive to your screen and pick and spot and park, it is kind of a free for all, but on a Wednesday night, there are maybe like 25 cars per movie so choices are endless. Tune your radio to the proper channel and shut your car motor off. The concession stand is neat and clean but i was hoping to see an overflowing popcorn machine. They had pre-filled popcorn tubs which was not as appealing, but we got it anyway (my husband barely ate his stating he thought it tasted stale). The display for the rest of the items for sale was pretty minimal. Although I had a great time, and the young kids working there were very nice, I am giving this rating for a few reasons. My new car (only 9 months old) shut off about 8 times during the movie. We had to restart it that many times which was probably bothersome to the other patrons. This was one concern of mine that was not addressed when I asked or tried going to the website to see what people normally do. As some mentioned in their reviews, even though we were in the car the whole time, I did get a few bug bites just from opening the window a few times. I can not even imagine how buggy it must be sitting out there in that field. The road is bumpy and uneven as other people mentioned, and being an out of towner, i just felt like it was difficult to find using the phone maps.

I wish I loved this drive in, but the light pollution is terrible and ruins the experience.

Such a better experience than a traditional movie theater-not to mention you get to see 2 movies for less than the price of what one movie ticket at a regular cinema would cost you! If you don't know what a drive in movie is but you've ever seen the movie Grease, the scene where they go to the drive in -that's the feel of this place. And the concession stand is amazing: fresh, hot, delicious, a ton of choices including a new option to turn any soda into a float (who wouldn't want to do that ?!) And absolutely 10/10 customer service!!!! Becky (the manager) was so helpful and friendly and patient when taking my large order yesterday evening (and when I requested extra cheese on my curly fries , she layered it in between the fries-if you know, you know)-it's the attention to detail that really leaves a lasting impression and would gladly have me pay for quality food here rather than basic movie theater food. Both she and the associate (who was tidying up the already spotless kitchen area) were some of the most personable funny people ever. When you stop in to grab a snack (or 2) make sure to grab some of the new custom $1 stickers they have for sale made from that associate's own art work ! All around, I can't say enough (and can't tell enough people) about how they NEED make Mansfield Drive In their top choice for all their movie night needs. Thank y'all again for being a summer staple and keeping the classic vintage vibes alive and well in this modern world !

The people who run and work there are always super nice and helpful. The only thing that kinda sucks is screen 3 radio tends to always have white noise background static no matter where you're parked, never had an issue with the other screens and stations. It's not bad enough to make me not want to see a movie but to some It may be distracting or annoying other then that it's still all around a great time

The auditoriums are tiny, the layout is awkward, and the overall vibe still screams early-2000s multiplex that never fully recovered from the mall-cinema apocalypse. There are no true luxury levels here. No upscale feel. No spacious seating pods. No immersive screens. Just cramped little rooms with recliners stuffed into them like an afterthought. It's the cinematic equivalent of putting leather seats in a 1998 Corolla and calling it a luxury car. The lobby still feels dated, the flow is clunky, and nothing about the experience feels elevated. It's functional -- barely -- but that's the nicest thing I can say. If you're expecting a modern theater experience, this isn't it. It's a patch job, not a transformation, and it shows in every corner of the building. Bottom line: reclining seats alone do not equal an upgrade. This place needed a full teardown and rebuild, not a cosmetic facelift.

We've been coming to the Topsfield Drive-in for the past couple of weeks now, and it's been a great option for going out. There are concession stands set up, masks are required when you are outside your vehicle. It's been nice to go out for a movie. This week was Beetlejuice. For some reason I'm watching it now, and it's a really weird plot line for a movie, but I remember not questioning it as a kid. I remember the gags and the running jokes with Delia's sculptures, Barbara having a literal zipper on her mouth. Holy crap that is young Alec Baldwin and I didn't recognize him. Beetlejuice needs to marry Lydia, an adolescent for whatever reason? It just struck me last night that this movie probably wouldn't be made in today's day and age. I still love it though, however I'm starting to notice that I question more things as I get older. So, last week was actually Jumanji: The Next Level. So it's nice because there is a nice spread of movies to watch. The concession stand is fairgrounds prices, which is okay but who can be mad over $7 deep fried oreos, they're delicious and where else you gonna get this? They do offer radios for rent at $5 a pop, or to jump your car for $5 if your car dies while listening to the radio for the movie. We've run off the battery for a movie and have been fine. I would caution not to rely on your battery unless it was replaced recently, and just buy a cheap radio to watch the film.

We did treat ourselves to concessions - I don't know the price, as I didn't buy. I said it didn't taste like movie popcorn and my friend said "it tastes like what movie popcorn USED to taste like..." Which is sort of true! We couldn't get our car radio working, but luckily, the people behind us had theirs pretty loud. It was quieter than I would have liked and than what I am used to, but the sound was still fine and the picture quality was great. We didn't stay for the 2nd one, as it was getting late and we were getting cold. But 2 movies for $20/car?! We had 4 people, which means we saw 1 first-run movie for $5 each and could have seen a 2nd for no extra money? Can't beat that!! A few pieces of advice if you go: - Bring bug spray!! My friend did and we used it, but I still have some bites! - Bring chairs, sweatshirts and blankets/sleeping bags. We were there on a nice, warm day and it got pretty chilly. The pickup truck behind us had backed into the space and thrown pillows, blankets and sleeping bags into the bed of the truck. The kids were in PJs. I was jealous! - You can also bring dinner (we ate out first) and your own snacks. - If you're bringing kids, make sure you know the rating of the movie and make sure you go to the right screen!
