Beautiful new space for a great theatre company! There is substantially more space than in the old…read more31Studios theater - and a real box office. There are seats for 60 now, versus 40 formerly. At the time of my visit the performance space was fully built but some of the other spaces (restrooms) were still being finished. RI Spirits is on the lower level of the building, and they've graciously sponsored the concession stand, meaning that during intermission you can get Rhodium vodka or gin (with a mixer) along with soft drinks, or sweet and salty snacks. The Burbage Theatre Company is already an important contributor to the Pawtucket arts scene, with free Shakespeare (and the hysterical Complete Works, which still counts) in the city spaces like the Guild over the past two summers. We saw the very funny The School for Lies today, and the rest of the line-up for this 9th season looks equally exciting. I'm looking forward to a fabulous season from an energetic and engaging company.

The seats are super comfortable and recline. The staff are quick to check you in and tell you what theater to go to. The theaters aren't littered with popcorn and the concession area is clean too. That kid ruined my family's viewing of Spider-Man this weekend and I got no apologies, only excuses from the woman at the desk who obviously couldn't care less. I didn't expect a refund when I chose to stay for the full movie. But some empathy and a statement that they'd try to do better next time would have been nice. Better yet, they could have been actually patrolling the movie regularly. When I used to work at a theater we did it every 30 minutes and removed disruptive guests, including those with small children. If you attend a movie here and have disruptive people in your show, do yourself a favor and get a refund, leave, and try another day. You'll get no help, or even understanding, from the staff.

Nice street festival in Cranston…read more Rolfe Square was closed for about 10 blocks and there was a large number of arts and crafts, food trucks, face painting, moonwalk for the kids, etc. There were booths from the Police and the Coast Guard to educate festival goers about their profession and also to give information to those who wanted some. There was a good size Beer Garden in front of the food truck area and it was well attended. The majority of the crafts were homemade stuff like candles, paintings, clothing, etc. I really enjoyed walking around and seeing the locals partake on a nice Spring festival.

They have so much land it's crazy ! The scenes are a great idea , and they have a good amount of actors they just need a little more for each set. Some sets were well put together and some were a little cliche. BUT I really did enjoy the scenes they did have , you got lots of time with nothing ( anticipation is great but I also don't want time to drag). I just think this place needs more scenery , or a few actors just randomly sitting on the trailer or randomly popping out even for a second. My other idea is to make sure in the beginning to tell children to stay seated , I saw plenty of children running around while we were moving such a safety hazard. ( parents should know this ). I'm trying not to say much so I don't spoil anything , the concession stand stuff is super pricey , but I mean hey you need candy right ? I liked this place very much though. I was scared a few times, and it was my sisters first time and she had a great time.

We managed to catch the opening night showing of Once while we were in town and really enjoyed ourselves. I believe it's first-come-first-served seating, so I do recommend coming early if you want a specific seat. We were a little bit late and arrived about 15 minutes before the show and somehow managed to get the last 3 seats together. The show was great - it felt like very intimate, which was a completely different experience to my first time seeing Once, which was on Broadway in a huge theater.

A very Rhode island…read morefestival Johnny Cakes have been around for a while, in fact most historians say they have been around in one form or another for centuries. Even though many places on the east coast have Johnny Cakes, Rhode island is traditionally given as the place where they originated or at least became popular. So what better place than Rhode Island to have a Johnny Cake Festival Just fried corn meal with some salt, hot water and perhaps some sugar, it is amazing how many different types have showed up. Lots of subtle differences and of course everyone claims theirs are the best. Actually the festival was a lot more than just Johnny Cakes and in the whole festival I only saw one vendor actually selling Johnny Cakes. The lines were so long that we didn't even bother and stuck with the lobster rolls, clam chowdah, clam cakes and kettle corn. So much food around that there was no way you were going hungry even without the Johnny Cakes. Some cool critters like sheep, goats and alpacas were around and lots of skillful artists spinning, carving, wefting, blacksmithing, weaving, and painting. A whole bunch of very talented and fascinating folks still knowledgeable about some anachronistic arts. Some great music and several environmental groups were around to entertain and of course lots of traditional and cool food and crafts. The location was lovely with a pleasant pond and several canals and waterfalls. The parking wasn't bad because they wasn't any. Everyone parked at the old fairground three miles away and were shuttled in by old school buses. Actually made it less chaotic. A cool festival and place to learn about New England arts, crafts, history and of course food. It was kind of curious that there weren't more Johnny Cakes. As a non-native Rhode Islander I was definitely impressed with this past weekend's Johnny Cake…read moreFestival. It was great to sample some food & wares that aren't available in my part of RI. Lots of cool & eclectic vendors mostly skewered towards the uniquness of the Ocean State. Lots of food & Johnny Cakes too but I didn't have any. Two of my local favorites had a presence there: Grey Sail & Dave's Coffee. There was also live music. I got to sample some pumpkin flavored whiskey from Sons of Libtery that made me want more. I'd drink whiskey but my wife says I turn into a different person so I'll wait for them to release their Dave's Coffee syrup flavored vodka! The only drawback is that transportation to get to the actual festival. Even though you have to take a cramped school bus to get there it's definitely worth & I'll be taking my family for years to come.
