I stopped by the Rusty Bucket with some friends on a recent game day in Columbus. It was crowded, but not to the point of a long wait for a table. They have a variety of TVs so it's a good spot to do some sports viewing while you eat (they even have audio). Service was good and we got our drinks quickly and the food came out in a reasonable time frame. We got a starter of wings and they were really good, definitely a notch above typical pub grub. My main of beef stroganoff was also very good...perfect comfort food for a cold day. Overall if you want some sports viewing combined with food and drink, this is a good option a couple of miles from the stadium. read more

My family ate at the Rusty Bucket in Upper Arlington on 2/28/26 for dinner after a long day of traveling and had a great experience. We ordered the Caesar Salad, el Cubano sandwich, fries, and a couple salad and sandwich combos. Our entire meal was excellent as the food quality was great. I also want to give a shout out to our server, Chris P, as he gave us excellent customer service and his enthusiasm was awesome. Perfect spot to bring friends and family visiting. We just barely made it before happy hour ended and boy were we glad. If you've never been, as long as you go during happy hour the appetizers are half off. We tried the spinach con queso and wings as well. While spinach and artichoke dip usually isn't my favorite, this spinach con queso was probably my favorite dish of the night. The burger was pretty good. I asked for medium and it was overcooked but it still was good nonetheless. Our server was very helpful as well constantly joking and coming by with a smile on his face. Have been there so many times late night with exceptional service until tn. Kitchen open until 11 and walked in at 10:43 and still asked as a courtesy if we could order. Told we had 15 min, were thrown menus while bartender tapped his fingers and said he was ready when we were. Walked out and went somewhere else. I went to the Rusty Bucket for a meeting with a prospective client. It was a recommended place to meet as it was close to his home. The area looked to be rebuilding with business and construction. Inside the restaurant is your bar setting with booths and tables. The patio looked like the place to be with enjoying the weather. I got the buffalo chicken sandwich with fries. The sandwich was pretty good as it was hot, fresh, and seasoned well. I would have liked more blue cheese crumbles on the side to cool the heat down. The fries were fine. We waited to be seated with the team and was advised by the manager that we would have to wait for an hour before seating would be available. He continued to seat others while disregarding my family. I've gotta say...Rusty Bucket has to be one of my fave casual sit down restaurants in all of Columbus. I have been going to them since I was in undergrad because there was one very close to Capital's campus in Bexley (hard to think that was 10+ years ago!). I tend to always stick to two tried and true items: 1.) the chicken fingers app, which comes served on a bed of fries and has 4 fried chicken tenders served with your choice of sauce. I always get a big side of BBQ sauce for dipping. I am picky with my sauces, but I find their BBQ sauce to be the perfect combination of sweet and tangy! It's easily the perfect size for a meal, so it's a bonus that it's on the appetizer menu. 2.) The Burger. I love burgers and this is one of the better ones in Columbus. I've gotten it with all the fixins and then sometimes just get cheese, ketchup and mustard. It's good no matter how you get it! Their fries are also soooo good! The perfect amount of seasoning on top. Again, these are some of the best in Cbus! All in all, I really enjoy coming here and have dined at this location a few times. However, on my last visit here, the chicken wasn't as good (I didn't finish it all, but did take it home and ate as leftovers). And also, I find the bathroom situation to be rough at times, depending on when you go. There are only two stalls here which is not enough for busy evenings. I put vinegar on it and tartar sauce just to give some type of flavor but I was highly disappointed. I'm not one to waste food but I couldn't even take my leftovers home. I did replace my fries with onion rings which were great! I'm giving four stars because as said rusty bucket usually does not disappoint. We enjoy the ambiance and food at the Rusty Bucket. The patio is great - very relaxing and a nice place to enjoy a casual meal and drinks. The inside has the feel of a sports bar, with lots of TVs, making it a great place to catch a game. I've visited this location at a couple of different times and days, and there is a distinct difference in experience. While the service I have received is always friendly and attentive, and the food good, the biggest issue I notice is the amount of time it takes for the food to arrive after ordering. I won't go during a lunch hour any more, as it consistently has taken much too long for the food to arrive. That said, the one time when a group of us literally had to request the food to be boxed the moment it appeared on the table, the manager personally came over and apologized and gave us all of our meals free. That was much appreciated. On the other hand, we've had very good experiences with reasonable timing going in at different times, whether in a large group or just my husband and I. Now, as to the food specifically - my husband particularly enjoys the burgers and the buffalo chicken sandwich, and the generous portion of fries that comes with these dishes. I've sampled several items off of the gluten-free menu, all of which have been tasty, but my favorite is the Grilled BBQ Chicken plate. It comes with a large juicy piece of chicken slathered in a very tasty version of BBQ sauce, some creamy and completely sinful cheddar mashed potatoes, and skillet beans. Now, the first time I ordered this, I was not sure what to expect with "skillet beans." I LOVE them. They are crisp tender green beans with slivers of onion and red pepper and piece of bacon. Just had an amazing long lunch. Service and food was amazing. We sat on the patio and enjoyed the warm sunny weather while enjoying starters of Brussels sprouts and queso dip. A little warning here the queso is more of a spicy cheddar spinach dip though still good not what was expected. The brussel sprouts were a little underdone for our tastes but also great. Our main dishes were fantastic. The fish and chips was done well and my friend enjoyed it. I had the el cubano which was amazing and huge I brought half of it home. The dries were nothing special but there was nothing wrong with them. Our server was super sweet and attentive but not overly slow and though we sat for hours we were never rushed. We actually sat so long we needed up ordering their amazing bread pudding for dessert which can be made sans nuts. It was also great. We had a wonderful afternoon with great food and service. I previously gave the Rusty Bucket a 2 star review based on an especially bad outing I had there. Since then I've returned multiple times since my wife continues to believe that they have the best buffalo chicken sandwich in the Universe. And I agree, their buffalo chicken sandwich is pretty amazing. Given my copious amount of experience dining here now, I figured it would be appropriate to give an updated review of The Rusty Bucket. They continue to have ridiculous wait times from time to time, which we've learned to avoid by going in the middle of the week usually. Everything I've ever ordered here has been tasty and reasonably priced. Point of caution however: their portion sizes are on the smaller side. Recommend ordering appetizers if you're super hungry. Their kids meals are excellent too, for those of you with kids. The interior is comfortable and cozy, and the outdoor dining space is really nice when the weather is nice. The service is usually good, although we've had 2 notably bad experiences, most recently when they completely forgot to give us our appetizer order. Their drink selection is pretty good as far as an average restaurant goes, but not that great for a place categorized as "tavern/pub/sports bar." Specifically, as a beer snob, it bothers me that their draft beer list has never changed in the 3 years that I've been dining here. You'd think they could rotate some beers in and out. Kudos to them for having a specialty beer brewed just for them by the local Four Strings Brewery however! So yeah, some really bright points with ongoing room for improvement. 3 stars seems appropriate at this particular time. read more

The bartender tended to be very busy but, I sat at the bar since there was no host (probably because they weren't too busy) and I was alone anyways. At the bar, there were some older folk and a young guy working on his laptop. Place wasn't too loud and I enjoyed that. I sat for a few minutes and ordered the Philly Cheesesteak which comes with fries. I added tomatoes. The sandwich was packed. Lots of meat and veggies. You get a good ant of fries as well. The food was hot and fresh. The sandwich was juicy and the sauce (on the side) was different and pleasurable. Drinks are always overpriced so I don't order them anywhere I go so... I had water lol. When the food came out, the bartender didn't ask how it was and didn't refill my water. However, again, they were fairly busy at the bar. So, I'll give them 4 stars for good food. the menu is fairly limited in things I actually eat but that's not their fault. Customer service could use some work like... possibly having more people on shift. For example, one guy walked up to the bar to ask for a soda refill. Not cool. read more

My husband, grandson, and I ate at the Rusty Bucket on Lane Avenue this evening. Never again. The service was very poor. The restaurant was not busy but it took 20-30 minutes for the food to come. The fries were cold as well as the noodles. My grandson only ate the noodles with his parm dinner. He did not like the chicken at all. My husband and I had club sandwiches that were not good. The prices are way too high for the quality of food. Worst of all was our server never came back one time to see how the food was or to refill drinks. We had to finally ask for our check. Went to an early lunch with my wife and one of her friends from work. Food was very good and the service was as well. She had the chicken finger BLT and fries. Her friend had the short rib hash. Rusty Bucket was the definition of a three-star dining experience. It wasn't great, but it wasn't bad. It was...ok. I'll add, it could just be us. There were very obviously a number of regulars seated around us at the bar, so maybe they know something we don't. We got the salmon salad and the beer cheese burger, and each was acceptable. The salmon was cooked appropriately, and the salad was fine. The greens etc. didn't really stand out, and were slightly above what you'd get at say Wendys or perhaps Panera. We at first glace mistook the vinaigrette for a cream-based dressing, but it appeared to just be opaque in color. The burger was better than I've had at some bars/restaurants. I seemed to be a fresh, hand-formed patty. That's always a plus, as all too many places these days seem to serve up a frozen mass-produced one. The beer cheese was ok, nondescript if a bit bland. Onion rings were good, but not noteworthy. I did feel that they would be better off pairing this burger with something other than mayo--BBQ sauce perhaps? We had a bit of a snafu with our order, but that did not affect my impressions/review. If anything, it gave a better feel for the establishment. The service/response to the issue was spot on. In fact, I'd say that they went above and beyond to address it. They provided fresh fries while they re-made the correct dish, comped that dish, and offered to comp us dessert.
