I chose Houlihan's for my birthday lunch since our last visit was so delicious. The minute we walked in we were greeted by the sweetest waitress in the whole wide world. She seated us by a window and was attentive and engaging the entire time. We were going to order the calamari as an appetizer again because it left such an impression on our first visit, but it was no longer listed on the menu, which made us sad until we saw the fancy fried cheese and ordered that instead. The hubby also wanted the jumbo shrimp and fries, just like last time, and luckily for him it was still available. I almost ordered the Kansas City burger again but wanted to mix it up so I chose the Brentwood Chicken sandwich, fried, with a Caesar salad. The salad and cheese came right out and were so delicious! The pesto dipping sauce for the cheese was amazing and we practically licked the container so we didn't leave any morsels. My salad was amazing too; the lettuce was fresh, the croutons were just crunchy enough and it had the perfect amount of dressing on it. My hubby once again thoroughly enjoyed his shrimp, but I had some regrets with the chicken sandwich. It was very tough and hard to eat. I ate half and then took it home for later. Upon a reheating, it was tender and delicious! Overall, very successful second visit to Houlihan's. We will be back for the lovely servers, the delicious food and the cozy, dark booths. read more

We live near by so we've been quite a few times. Typically we sit at the bar. It's pretty nice looking inside and you're always greeted right away. The bartender is very attentive and friendly and has good drink recommendations. We had the espresso martini and the orange creamsicle cocktail. I really liked my creamsicle cocktail but wasn't a big fan of the espresso martini. We also had the prime rib egg rolls which were very good, it also came with a slaw but it was missing any type of dressing it was just shredded cabbage with a few jalapeno slices on top. Nice place to grab a drink or two and maybe a bite to eat. Will be back most likely for a happy hour. read more

I went to Houlihan's on a Sunday after church with a $15 birthday coupon. It's in a great location close to shopping and just outside of Columbus. The Kansas City Burger was pretty delicious! The brown sugar bacon and onion straws added a particular bit of flare like fireworks on my palate! The sweet potato fries had some cheese sprinkled on top, which was unusual, but it worked! Buns worse than Kroger house brand by a mile, worse than C-Store buns. Too small for burgers and the buns melted to mush. Place is dated, TVs all busted or partially not working. BUT....the service was slow and the food was not hot. The taste was mediocre at best. Did the 3 course meal and it took forever for the dessert to be brought out and after the long wait it tasted stale. This restaurant is in need of better management, servers and cooks. Service was slow. Took us 20 minutes to get drinks (iced tea and pop) and an hour to get our order placed for food. I had to order 3 different meals since they didn't have the first 2. My mom had to order a second meal since they didn't have the first and then they proceeded to bring her the wrong meal. There are so many good, local places that I hardly go to a chain restaurant these days. But I'll make an exception for Houlihan's, affectionately referred to as Hoo-Loo's. I'm a sucker for the garlic parmesean fries, they have a great flavor and come with a variety of dipping sauces that have changed over time. The stuffed chicken is really good - breaded chicken with a creamy stuffing, mashed potatoes and green beans that are perfectly cooked. The 3 course menu is always a nice choice - it's good value and there is a range of options so that most folks will find something they like on it. The menu changes and they regularly offer off menu or holiday specials - my friend and I went for the Easter 3 course menu and had a lovely meal. Every week, they have a $10 special on Monday and Tuesday that they email out if you're on their mailing list, chicken parm, stuffed chicken, meatloaf, fish tacos.... The Tremont location has also been really nice about special requests over time. I've asked for different sauces for the fries, a specialty burger made Impossible, off menu seasonal items recreated... They've generally accommodated and been really nice about it, too. I love the atmosphere - it's on the darker side, with a fireplace. The bar has counter stools, high tops, and booths. They have a small patio for when the weather is nice that we have enjoyed as well. The Happy Hour specials are good, so if you're looking for an easy patio for a glass of sangria, I'd hit up Hoo-Loos. read more

Houlihan's was a go to restaurant for many years. I can honestly say I will no longer go to one when I see it. We started strong with our server and apps. It was when the main course arrived that it crashed and burned. The accompanying burger was near blue not medium rare. The attitude flipped by the server. Was she pressured by the kitchen or manager? I don't know. By the way I had flagged the manager and he just waved! Never has that happened before when there is an issue. Issue management must be a skill learned but not here! I worked at a Houlihan's in college, so I'm excited to have one so close - good old nostalgia. After almost a decade this is still one of the best happy hours around in my opinion, with low priced drinks and appetizers. There's a decent selection of food, but I come here for the French onion soup because it's done the way French onion soup SHOULD be done, with cheese melting over the bowl. Houlihan's has a great vibe and a very comfortable patio. It's conveniently shaded in the evenings right now so you can social distance and enjoy your meal outdoors. The egg roll appetizer was a hit at our table to start off with. I opted for the chicken piccata entree because I've been on a hunt for years to find one that even compares to the dish at Coopers Hawk. This one fell a little short though, the chicken was a little too breaded, the lemon sauce a little too thick and the capers were mysteriously missing. It was served over fettuccine Alfredo which was delicious, but made the meal a little heavier and didn't really compliment the lemon sauce on the chicken. I would opt for something else on the menu, and I would definitely come back another time to try one of the other entrees that caught my eye! read more

First I have to mention the service...Stephan was incredible and patient and kind! Unfortunately I have become so used to terrible service as of late that I'm stunned when I have it. This young man was STELLAR and was definitely working with a skeleton staff. He was seating tables, serving tables, etc. all with the best attitude and service! We were there after 1pm on a Tuesday afternoon and since it is around the holidays I'm assuming it was a bit busier than a typical weekday during late afternoon (after lunch rush). It appeared he and one other girl were doing EVERYTHING! It's disheartening that the workers that do show up, have to work that much harder because so many places are understaffed. The food was good. I had the white bean salad, 1/2 French dip and fries. My parents had salads and a southwest wrap. Although the food was good, I mostly recommend this place due to the incredible service we received! To give this establishment any stars would be an understatement of how terrible the "Manager" treated my family .We went there to celebate our son going away to college and when we had so many flies landing on our food and asked if we could have an entree replaced was told NO. We ate here today, early on a Friday to beat the dinner rush. We were invited to pick whichever seats we wanted, given menus and drinks orders taken immediately. I ordered chicken and avocado egg rolls appetizer and he ordered fried calamari. They were both very good. In fact those egg rolls were so yummy, I'm going to try to make them at home. I ordered pot roast and he ordered meat loaf. They were both good and I think they both have the same gravy. It came with potatoes and green beans. I also ordered carmel butter cake but that's in my fridge since I was too full to eat it. He got potato soup to go, also in the fridge. When the chips arrived I had to ask for my wine order. The chips were rancid tasting, and our server didn't come back for a long time. When she returned we told her and she didn't really respond.
