We found the Rusty Pelican on yelp and decided to give it a try; I'm glad we did, it was amazing. We had some of everything and it was all great. They have a bunch of different sauces, and those were all good too. Service was very friendly and helpful too. We will have to stop by on our next trip through LA!! read more

I believe I had one of the most better tasting burgers in Mandeville. Located in the quant neighborhood of old Mandeville this restaurant doesn't fall behind taste. The burger I had was chargrilled to my taste. I ordered the basic Pelican Burger with grilled onions, tomatoes and lettuce and they did not skip a beat. It came with fries and boy was it good and filling. When I'm graving a burger, this will be one of my first option and might be one of my favorite burger joint. Only time will tell. There are daily specials that look very interesting. I will definitely try some of them. read more

Best burgers and best service. They take pride in their food and customer service. We go here several times a month for this reason. The only one time they messed up my order, it was fixed promptly (during a rush) with apologies and they made up for it as well. The outside tables can get crowded and noisy with people letting their kids run around and climb on the wall, but can't really do much about that. read more

D. and I went there last night - be prepared for a lot of food. The basket of cheese fries was enormous, enough to split between 4 people easily. We both got the grilled Rusty Bird (chicken sandwich), and it was a good size piece of chicken seasoned well. Fries, both sweet potato and shoestring, are not greasy. I added a crab cake on to my dinner to try one, since everyone recommends them - and I was not disappointed. Real crunchy on the outside, and the inside is loaded with flaky crab and not smothered in mayo. The remoulade sauce they paired it with was good. Prices are excellent, and it's a great casual dinner place for under $25 for two (we spent a little more this time). read more

WOW! Love me some Rusty Pelican. Had my usual this time around..yes, a shrimp poboy, but this time I got crazy and went 1/2 shrimp, 1/2 oyster. Fooled ya, didn't I! Shrimp were falling off the bread, seasoned well, nice and crisp. Fries were hot and yummy. Ive had the burger before. Can't go wrong with that either. Salads are huge. Omg....I just cannot believe how freakin amazing the potato salad is! Growing up in south Louisiana, I have seen wars waged over potato salad. The omission of an ingredient or the addition of a new ingredient (such as olives,say) could cause family or lifelong friends to give each other "the stank eye". Yes...we are passionate partisans to our family recipes. Deviation from the sacrosanct recipe could cost you friends, break up your marriage, or make you spend many hours and a fortune in therapy. The potato salad at the Rusty Pelican is a little like that ring from those Hobbit books and movies. I will now refer to it as "My Preciousssssss" or "one potato salad to rule them all". And while I am pretty sure that crack cocaine is not an actual ingredient in said potato salad, prepare to have some serious withdrawal symptoms after your first taste. I'm also pretty sure that I read an article in last month's "Vogue" about sour cream being the new crack. Anyhow, suffice it to say that if I were not such a proper Southern lady, I would have licked that plate clean in the middle of that restaurant in front of God and everyone. I'm giving three stars because I absolutely love the food at Rusty Pelican. The food is delicious and the atmosphere is casual and laid back, however, I have to say I am wary of returning to the new Covington location due to the employees' complete disregard to the worldwide pandemic. When my husband and I went to the Covington location in November, the only employee wearing a mask was the young girl who brought our food out to us. She only wore her mask when she delivered our food. None of the employees preparing food or taking our order were wearing masks, and a few of the employees were eating and drinking in the same place that our food was being prepared. We ordered to go on two other occasions, and we didn't feel safe ordering that way either due to how incredibly packed the restaurant was with unmasked employees and customers. Again, we love the Rusty Pelican, but we are very disappointed in the actions of the employees and the disregard to the safety of others. read more

Amazing, amazing, amazing! Three times for added emphasis. Quite possibly best sandwich ever, the roast beef poboy. The tenderness, juicy Ness and temperature of the roast beef is indescribable. I will at least make an attempt. The sandwich is delivered hot, not warmed over but genuinely piping hot. The drippings only add to the flavor experience. There is no way to eat this sandwich neatly as the drippings flow out of the sandwich with reckless abandon,have plenty of napkins ready. The key here is to allow the drippings to land on the fries, creating double nirvana. The roast beef is so tender and flavorful, melting in your mouth. So so good, slap your mama good. Well worth traveling outside of NOLA for this fabulous establishment. The service and friendly atmosphere is to be praised. read more

My sister, aunt and I went to this restaurant for lunch. We ordered fried artichoke hearts for an appetizer, which was very good. We ordered a Mahi sandwich, a Mahi salad and a seafood platter, extra oysters, no fish. The food came out and immediately we could see the Mahi was overcooked. It had been cooked under a grill press it seemed and all the juice was drained from it. We sent the salad and sandwich back, they brought back another Mahi sandwich, and chicken (by request) for the salad in lieu of fish. The second Mahi was overcooked as well, and dry and under seasoned. The chicken was dry and under seasoned. My shrimp on the seafood platter was overcooked and inedible and seemed like they got the oysters and shrimp backwards. I had a huge piece of shell in my second oyster. The potato salad tasted like it had been scooped out of a bucket of mayo and was under seasoned. When the girl brought out the second fish and chicken she was brusque. I was not impressed and not once did anyone say "we're sorry". I went up front and asked the girl to speak to a manager. She said "I am a manager". I told her we were unhappy with our meal and outlined what was wrong with it. She asked if I had my receipt, which I did. I was puzzled but brought it back to her. Without a word, she started digging in the register and suddenly handed my money back! All of it! I was dumfounded and just stared for a second then said thank you, I did not expect a refund. I went back to the table, which was cleared. Apparently a staff member had come to the table willy nilly, started taking baskets away and said, "she's getting a refund, you don't need this food anymore". Not once did they try to retain our business by saying "sorry, what can we do to make it better". I have had 20+ years in the food/beverage industry and never have a seen such a bad attitude from management. Needless to say, no one will return to this restaurant. read more

Y'all...this place is amazing. I haven't had anything I didn't like or didn't make my stomach feel happy. We keep coming back because of the food (obviously), but the atmosphere makes the experience so much better. The staff is attentive and they always have a smile. Good music is always playing. Giant TVs to watch games, but not a sports bar atmosphere. Great to bring the kids and when the weather is good you can sit outside. I highly recommend the Rusty Pelican. It is easily one of our top favorite restaurants in Mandeville. read more
