Great option for breakfast and lots of fun choice. Stuffed French toast, breakfast burrito, clever desserts. They even have candy & fudge for purchase. An old barn with loads of character. Food was average but big servings and friendly service. Skip the biscuits & gravy- very bland. Were accommodating of vegetarian options no problem. read more

Long wait. I don't mind waiting but it was longer than they said. Then people who were seated after us had their food and check well before we did. Cute place though. Good food. Couple of guys that work there with long hair really had their act together. They definitely knew what they were doing! Would come back for that super cute store alone. The rusty tractor is a darling, unique, family run cafe in a cute red barn. They serve really good, genuinely homemade breakfast dishes. The breakfast menu doesn't offer many options, but that's not a problem since everything they make looks very yummy. Portions are enormous and prices very affordable. Staff is friendly and the service is great. The John Deere and the scrambled #3 are loaded with tasty cheese and fresh hash browns. On a side note, their black coffee is also good. The rusty tractor is highly suggested for a filling, traditional breakfast stop. read more

We are still in shock over the service we received at this restaurant. If you choose to go, be prepared to be ignored and openly disrespected. We ordered our food and my wife asked for extra lemon for her tea and water for both of us - not an unreasonable request. The waitress brought one thin slice of lemon and no water. She then proceeded to sit with people she seemed to know at the next booth and have a lovely conversation. This was a busy Saturday morning over Fourth of July weekend and she sat and chatted with her friends making herself unavailable to her customers. We finally asked another waitress for the additional lemon. Our waitress eventually got up from visiting with her friends and brought us our food, which must have been ready for a while, since it was barely warm, at best. We then realized we had never gotten any water. We asked her for water. Then we asked for extra napkins. Each request seemed like a burden to her. After we had gotten the bill and we ere finishing the last sips of our coffee and tea, our waitress circled by the table and dropped off a small bowl containing two thin slices of lemon and said "better late than never". We did not demand anything above and beyond what should have been normally expected service and were treated rudely. There are plenty of wonderful eating places in Door County. This place is cute and unique and the food seemed like it would have been good, had it been hot, but do yourself a favor and drive a little further down the road. My family and I stopped here for lunch on a Sunday afternoon. The food was good and the atmosphere was unique. The service was not the door county experience I expected. The server was nothing to write home about and when inquiring if a fried egg could be put on a burger, they said "no, the kitchens closed for breakfast". Yet, we were able to order a Monte Cristo sandwich that was on french toast. Also, employees kept using a side entrance and cold air blew in each time they went in and out. It seems like the entrance was for an emergency exit, so it was peculiar it was being used. read more

My boyfriend and I were looking for a unique place to eat breakfast after camping the night before. We stumbled upon the RUSTY TRACTOR CAFE. It was so cute. It is nestled inside a barn. The breakfast was amazing, and the service was even better. We had a younger man with dark brown hair, tattoos, and mentioned that he had lived in CO. He had about 8 tables going at once but not once did he loose momentum, and I felt that he was super attentive. After a very long wait the three of us (senior citizens) were seated and looking at our menus ready to order. Then the manager came by and asked us to move. We were escorted to the back of the restaurant and seated there. We noticed that our booth was located near a window and given to someone that the manager obviously knew well. Realizing the rudeness of what had just happened we decided to leave. We had been there on other occasions and were not impressed by the food but the rude customer service will keep us away from this place forever. read more

I have to disagree withe the Lady with the dry pork story. My family and I are owners at the Harbour Village campground, roughly 1/2 mile south of the tractor on Hwy 42. We have visited the Rusty Tractor close to a dozen times this past summer. We have never had a bad meal there, from their generous breakfast portions to the Lunch, dinner and ice cream, everything was great. If you visit the Tractor I highly suggest the thick cut bacon and pancakes for breakfast and the meatloaf dinner. The meatloaf is some of the best I have ever had, truely home made. The pizza is also tasty with generous portions, the crust seemed store bought but from the taste, you can tell they assemble the pizza's on premises. Highly recomended, try it and see for yourself. read more

This place was such a surprise and the BEST place we ate at during our 5 day stay in Door County. My husband had the lunch special for the day - the chicken zucchini wrap. It was full of crisp tender vegetables with a subtle seasoning. I had "The Combine" - a ton of grilled vegetables on warm flat bread with cucumber sauce. It was delicious! The prices were more than reasonable. I will recommend this to anyone who asks where to eat in Door County. read more
