I went back today with a friend and today ordered a completely new item. The garlic Parmesan chicken wings. Absolutely the best I've had in a long time ( including Roosters)! Very meaty flapper's and drumsticks . I split fried clams and hush puppies with my friend and she also thought they were delicious and she also ordered the fish sandwich and enjoyed it too. Quick, tasty and always hot and fresh. I love the Fish and Shrimp basket. Everything is cooked well and does not end up overly greasy. The servers are always friendly and quick. Plenty of seating which is appropriately decorated in a sea theme. Definitely give it a try if you like fish. read more

The hubby was interested in some seafood while we were running around and I found Rusty's Wharf on the map. They have plenty of parking, but finding the front door is a little confusing. We parked out front (they are located in a strip mall) but ended up having to walk all the way around to the back before finding the entrance. We were a little disappointed to see that it is more like a fast food restaurant than a regular dine-in with a counter and overhead menu behind, as well as a drive thru, but we were vested at that point and stepped up to the counter to place our order with the friendly cashier. We ordered two fish and chicken baskets and a side of clams and calamari. We paid at the counter and then were given a number and told to have a seat where our food would be brought out to us, which was a pleasant surprise. The dining room is inviting and bright and appropriately seafood themed with fish and nets hanging on the walls. It's a good sized dining area with at least 20 tables or more. Our food came out in a decent amount of time, but wow, it was so fresh. They definitely cook their food to order. And there was so much food that we could have easily shared a basket, that also comes with hushpuppies and fries as well. So delicious!!!! They include many sauces for dipping in handy carryout ready containers. We took most of our food home with us and gobbled it down later that night. We will definitely be revisiting this restaurant next time we are in Pataskala!! read more

Okay it's in a strip mall. Not a very glamorous one at that. No matter. Never judge a book by its cover. Tuesday is fishalicious Tuesday. That's a two piece fish basket and drink for only $7.50. It's a family run...counter (if you will), but, they embrace you into their family from that point on. Go sit down. They'll bring lunch to you! My fish and shrimp came with two hush puppies and chips. For the table we had an assortment ranging from Mac n cheese to Cole slaw to baked beans. I love the bread crumbs on top of the Mac. They also use two cheeses and it turned out super creamy and delish! My very favourite is the smelt basket. I'm not a fan of the chili. Too spicy. Decent tasting other than that. My friend Roger ordered a chili dog that looked like the dog was out in the sun for a decade. Cost wise this is the best family deal for fish baskets in our area. It's a friendly, family atmosphere and very clean. We spoke with Kate (I believe) and learned much more about their practices and how much is home made and how. Been meaning to come here, but it is far from my usual routes. Had time today. Got there right when they opened on a weekday, and there were several people walking toward it, so I thought "wow, people are lining up!" But no, they were all going to the quilt shop next door. Big menu, lots of stuff I wanted to try. Lady at the counter was great- patient and perky. They were out of chili, which I really wanted to try. I ended up with the sampler: fish, chicken, shrimp, clams, hushpuppies and fries. I got a side of baked beans to make up for the chili. Made fresh, came out 10-15 minutes later. Huge pile of food. Smelled so good. Crispy and hot. The chicken was pretty good, as was the fish. The shrimp were my favorite part, and I'm only a moderate shrimp fan. The clams were crispy and tender. Hushpuppies were good. The fries were thick but crispy outside. I had to leave half the fries- it was just too much food. The baked beans were pretty darn good. Was it a meal good enough to drive half an hour for? Nah. But pretty good. If I lived nearby I'd come once in awhile. Prices are excellent, $18 for a ton of good food. Plenty of parking. Decided that I would check out Rusty's Wharf in Pataskala today. It's in a small strip mall. You are greeted at the counter and place your order and go in and sit down at a table. When your order is ready it is brought to your table. I ordered the Fish/shrimp that came with chips and 2 hush puppies. Also had coleslaw, baked beans and Mac and cheese. The Mac and cheese is made with two types of cheese with bread crumbs on top. Very smooth taste to it. The baked beans had the slightest cinnamon added to them which most places make the mistake of adding too much much to it. The coleslaw was made up with finely chopped vegetables with a nice smooth tasting sauce. Almost comparable to KFC's, really delicious. The chips were fried perfectly. The fish was a nice flaky piece. Very nice. The shrimp had the perfect texture and crunch to it. The star of show was the Hush Puppies, made homemade. They the perfect texture and crunch to them. What a perfect flavor. Next time I will order more. Yes there will be a next time. As I was leaving I got to take a few minutes to talk with Katie who I believe is the manager. Added bonus talked with the cook. They both were really informative talking about the business. You could tell that they were super excited about the customer experience. I have been reading great things for weeks now about Rusty's Wharf on Columbus Foodies. I mentioned it today to my husband & we made an impromptu trip to Pataskala. It was so worth it! We are a family of 4. Three of us got the large fish baskets & my youngest got the chicken tender basket. Plus we added a side of slaw and a side of mac & cheese. Everything was delicious. The fish & chicken were hand battered. They were fried perfectly. The amount of crunch was perfect. The fries were crispy. The sides were both delicious. The tarter sauce was very tasty & very plentiful The highlight of the meal for me was the hush puppies! I could seriously make a meal of the them. They were crispy on the outside. The inside was tender & moist with just a hint of green onion. Our bill was around $50 plus we have leftovers for days. Pretty good for a family of 4. We almost always get the same thing: a Large Ole Fish Basket (3 pcs of fish fries, and hush puppies) as well as Cole slaw; it is always exactly the same: GREAT. Rusty's Cole Slaw is the best anywhere! Servers are always helpful and friendly, and there is rarely a wait; the fish is prepared AFTER you order it. I called and ordered the fish basket which was described as two pieces of fish chips(fries) and hush puppies. I arrived at the location, and went in the rear entrance. I was greeted by the friendly staff and my order was ready and waiting. The inside is much larger than I anticipated, a large dining area to the left of the kitchen. I returned to the office and dug in. The fish was light and fluffy, the breading was wonderful with a great crunch! The fries were what appeared to be large hand cut steak style fries. The hush puppies were sweet and had kernels of corn in them. Their tarter sauce had a great tang that cut through the breading in the fish, gave it a great balance. Stopped in for our first time while out shopping. We ordered our food and seated ourselves at a table while we waited for it to be made. It came out hot, fresh, and it was really good. Have been a customer for years, and yeah I'm going to continue patronizing them. OCCASIONALLY. Over the recent years, I've thought their Fish-n-chips were one of the best around. Not any more. Within the last year, they've seriously lessened the actual amount of real FiSH tucked inside the batter, which has become way too thick. More batter. Less actual fish. See my photo from the last meal. The "chips" (actually just fries... not real thicker chips as they should be) are crispy, all right. And that's acceptable still. Tartar sauce is integral to my fish dining, and theirs is still good, but now served up in tiny little cups. Additional ones are 50-cents. However the girls are usually willing to just give me one more. ADDITIONAL seafood items are good and there's a wide selection. Always plentiful seating and pleasant attentive staff. Pricing appears to be within reasonable ranges. If you're outside Pataskala, it's worth the drive. Coming from Col's; I'd suggest you take the 70 out to the 310 exit and head north. read more

I'll tell you what - we only got one item from Rusty's Wharf, but it was the best order of hush puppies I have ever had! This single prompted us to schedule dinner here tomorrow night - so stay tuned for an updated review and photos! We were out taking Gandalf for a jeep ride out in the area of the restaurant. I wanted a quick snack and have longed to stop here for a long time. Luckily the drive through window was open and the take out was available. I gave them a quick call since the sign on the door said closed and our hush puppies were ready in a matter of minutes. You get 12 good sized puppies for $2.50! They were nice and sweet, the breading on the outside was super crisp and the inside was super soft. I have been everywhere in this country and sampled some of the freshest seafood items on each coast, I can confidently tell you that these are going to be the best you have ever had! I am super pumped about coming back here to try everything! Update: Dinner Time Just as expected everything was super fresh and crisp. We drove home about 13 minutes and everything was still really crisp and delicious. We got the fish basket, 3 chicken baskets, clam strips, calamari, bbq wings, and garlic Parmesan wings.
